A federal judge has granted a request for a preliminary injunction prohibiting the Encinitas Union School District’s buddy program from teaching gender identity topics without first notifying parents and allowing them to withdraw their children from the lesson.
The ruling is the latest development in a lawsuit filed by local parents last year alleging that a school mentor program violated their constitutional religious rights by exposing their children to gender identity content without prior notice or the ability to opt out.

Stop teaching my kid that the left handed aren’t demon-possessed freaks. It’s against my traditional values. Let parents teach at home about how the freaks should be forced to use their right hands as the Flying Spaghetti Monster intended.

Ultimately, it’s the taxpayers that are gonna lose every time the city sued on these bad decisions by the bad city manager put in place by Blakespear and supported by Bruce.
It’s the same old Kranzinitas that is supported by Blakespear and Bruce that is sinking Encinitas.
Since the court has established a precedent, I suggest some additional actions.
ReplyDeleteI’d like advanced warning so I can withdraw my kid if the teacher is going to be wearing any garments made out of two fibers.
Also, if there’s going to be any history lesson that implies that slavery is a bad thing, I’m also going to need a heads up and ability to withdraw my child.
If the school garden is to plant two different crops next to each other, then my first amendment religious freedoms require that my kid not be exposed to such immorality.
And if ther cafeteria ever serves up a ham sandwich or pepperoni pizza, then our family requires permission to stone to death anyone that served or ate the offending pork.

I actually agree that the district shouldn’t be compelling kids to teach other kids stuff that conflicts with their religious or home teachings.

Just teach “don’t be a dick,” and “it’s never okay to bully or harass your classmates for being different.”
Put up some giant posters to make the point. David Bowie, Annie Lennox, Elton John, Mr. Brady from the Brady Bunch, Boy George, and Luke Shaffer.
No need for details. Just tell the kids: “These are all people who were different. And yet, they all became successful in their own way.”
