Joy knows only the lines fed her. The rest of the time she winds meaningless noise around the lines. Women have to splain to her all the time. That's how it works when you're a willing puppet on the wrong side of virtually everything.
If staff stopped their shenanigans they would not invite what you call condescension that the rest of us called demanding accountability. They've had a good run on the gravy train, time to get to work. O'Hara shows more restraint than most knowledgeable residents would display, given the chance to call staff to account. Asking questions?? Say it ain't so! Point out when they're not answering? OMG nooooo can't have that!

I like scissors, but the selection is limited in Encinitas. The CVS in Solana has 18 different types of Scissors therefore the Encinitas CVS has to have 18 different types of scissors too! We must do whatever Solana beach does! What is wrong with this council? - The Shyndler
The reality is is their bad decision to put an inside Blakespear, incompetent employee as the city manager is having really damaging effects on resident’s lives.
Our beloved children and mothers are dying.
I love humor, but unfortunately, this is not a funny topic.
RIP to Emery and Emily and peace to their families. πͺ¦π’
Theresa your name calling is stupid and not going to get you any traction. What people are noticing is O’Hara actually reading reports and holding staff to account and *gasp* asking questions so that he can vote in an informed manner.
Contrast O’Hara with Hinze who faithfully repeated the lines written for her by Blakespear. Who offered up this gem regarding the unhoused: “Homelessness begins at home.”
So you can whisper campaign DOGE all you like, the rest of us are relieved we’ve got someone willing to put in the work and not just figureheading the position. Not someone who “has the most blank look I’ve ever seen on anyone,” as a downtown business leader observed of Hinze at a council meeting.
Jim just seems anti everything. What he doesn't understand, he dismantles. What he doesn't know, he criticizes. But he never ASKS staff with an attitude of learning, he asks in a condescending way because he's already decided he knows everything
same with Natalie. She calls for Tarquin to be fired without ever hearing his reasoning for anything. If Natalie or Rachel (or Jim) have already decided not to like you, or labeled you as the bad guy, they don't care what your perspective is. They don't want to hear anything that contradicts what they've already assumed
9:26 responding on behalf of most residents, thank god we don’t have another seat filler council member who can only praise staff. What you call anti everything the rest of us call striving to improve. He does thank them at each meeting g you are just a glass half full kinda person.
Obviously you aren't hearing the things from staff that I am. Directly. Jim is creating a toxic work environment and throwing thank-yous their way doesn't erase the condescending attitude, arrogance, unwillingness to listen, always jumping to the worst possible conclusion and a desire to dismantle things he doesn't understand.
He touts what he learned on YouTube about traffic? As if that makes him an expert? And then when Joy compliments staff dealing with HAP, he literally undermined that thank you by asking if they are "experts in homelessness", ignoring their years of work experience...so he can't respect their opinion, but we're all supposed to just go along with what he says about street safety because he watched YouTube videos? His double standards make me sick.
Staff crying about Jim means that Jim is doing something right, get a clue. Jim wants data, not opinions from unqualified hacks who were hired by Blakespear to do everything they can to give developers more density. Even our traffic studies were manipulated to heavily benefit developers while you sit in traffic wondering what the hell happened.
You do know Jim puts on huge events all over the country that literally take over the streets and impact traffic. Taking a tiny clip from a much longer conversation is tiresome. Do better.
Jim is doing a great job of dismantling the developer cartel. When reports are going straight to Dudek(a developer branch of the cartel) you know something is up. then, the new appointee points out a massive flaw with how trees are managed which gives people like developer’s tool Joy an easier path to upzoning public parks because those trees are not covered by the committee, you stop them in their tracks. What was a developer rubber stamp committee is no more, it will be the opposite and more tree will be protected from the cartel. Once again, the only people against this are the ones receiving money from a developer.
Are you saying UFAC was a "rubber stamp" committee? Where is the evidence for that. Specifics, please.
Sounds like there were some clerical issues. They should have had the minutes on Granicus, but the recordings of the meetings are all available and always have been. Sometimes a mistake is simply that, a mistake. Doesn't mean there was something nefarious.
Jim wastes so much time and the Mayor lets him. When Jim mentioned irregularities in UFAC, Ehlers should have simply directed the City Manager to make sure that all commissions and committees follow proper procedures for full transparency and ensure staff have no conflict of interests. Problem solved. No need for conspiracies, innuendo, and a waste-of-time discussion.
L7 and a bunch of other city owned open space was considered to be gifted to the cartel by the last council that was quickly sent packing as a result. People who don’t live here really need to stop commenting
2;20 gets paid by a developer. As Jim pointed out, we are short on open/park space according to every metric and any idiot with an iq above room temp knows we have more than enough McMansions. Try harder, we are not buying your developer propaganda anymore. Go find a Latina to exploit some more.
It wasn't always a bedroom community. In the 50s and 60s it was a nice small town whose teachers could afford to live here. So could the people with blue collar jobs that work to serve elite people like you and keep the community going.
The "local control" crowd wants to make sure wait staff can't afford to live here. They want the poor folk to live elsewhere and have to drive to Encinitas to clean their houses, serve them food, mow their yards and do all the things poor people should do in silence.
Anybody who thinks our housing laws support low income people is a fool. You are a complete idiot if you believe the last council gave a rats ass about providing housing to teachers and wait staff. Fact of the matter is, this council is more progressive than anything Tony or Blakespear ever came up with.
2:37 is the kind of comment a Jim supporter makes, which gives you insight into how mean they are. Jim must be the same way. He's in bed with SEN and EKIR and all the other toxic social media political operatives
Encinitas deserves respectful, informed leadership. Council Member Jim O’Hara’s repeated interruptions, condescending tone, and factually incorrect statements don’t just stall progress—they contribute to a toxic work environment that has pushed good staff out the door. Public service should be about collaboration, not grandstanding
Yep. Time to stop blaming the old councils. And time to stop calling this council “new”. They’ve been at this, what, half a year? Or more? They chose the city manager. They own the HAP now. They unanimously voted to deny the appeal for the largest development Encinitas has ever seen so far. And they unanimously gave the grant to the CRC. We have to start holding them accountable.
Bruce Ehlers is turning out to be big pussy that seems like he’s taking orders from Blakespear. What a disappointment.
Ehlers kept her city attorney and failed city management team in place that produced all of those miserable bike traps and road failures. Support CRC and gives grants to CRC and the parking lot magnets and bullshit, Along with hundreds of millions of dollars a mistakes and it failed City Hall.
Happy long weekend for all you loafers at City Hall. Besides a few cops, pulling a few people over you don’t get shit done anyway. Total waste of tax dollars
Prediction: Jim finds something to mansplain to Joy, as always, and speaks in a condescending tone to staff.
ReplyDeleteJoy knows only the lines fed her. The rest of the time she winds meaningless noise around the lines. Women have to splain to her all the time. That's how it works when you're a willing puppet on the wrong side of virtually everything.

Kranz the failure nothing as expected. Booooo
More pollution, more death, less sleep, more health issues. This is very bad for Encinitas.
I sure hope the Feds kill the funding for Amtrak considering its extremly low ridership and its death record and negative impacts to public health.
please contact your US congress reps and tell them to cancel funding for Amtrak and Coaster Program.
Both very very bad for family public health.
Thank you!
