With this incompetent city manager and this Darra Lake city Council, the City Hall is always in favor of the developer over the existing residents.
In exchange, the project will receive 10 waivers from city building standards, including ones regarding lot size and building set-back requirements. It’s also being allowed to build private street within the development and that street won’t be as wide as what would be required if it was a public street, Bustamante said.

The City of Encinitas needs a real City Manager.
Back in Feb, The incompetent City Manager's team brought forward a report that shows the City has a huge DUI problem on its hands. Drunks and Druggies nearly passed out behind their wheels are crashing into roundabouts while not killing innocent children and moms which his nice for a change.
Remember this is the same team that brought the City the sharrows on high-speed highways, the Santa Fe disaster, and the team that says the existing conditions where Emery and Emily dies are just fine and nothing needs no changes. The team is led the incompetent folks that listen to other incompetent folks like Blakespear's gimp and an East Encinitas knuckle-head.
The city’s traffic engineer initially brought forward a proposal to add metal bollards to the roundabout edges in February, but several council members asked for more research, saying they wanted something prettier given the location.
On Wednesday, the city’s mayor, who had preferred the bollard option in February, said he would support the new proposal, but worried that crashing vehicles may continue to be a problem at the roundabout. If so, the new wooden-sleeved posts may sustain a great deal of damage and need to be regularly replaced, he said.
“I’ll go for this because it’s an inexpensive approach,” Mayor Bruce Ehlers said, adding that he’ll be checking back in a year or two and deciding then whether it’s worth it to keep the wooden sleeves.
The City never addressed the core problem - The problem is the extremely high DUI problem in the oversaturated Encinitas down town PB-style bar scene.
The roundabout is working great for non-wasted legal drivers and the surrounding community who use it like children and mothers walking to farmers market, the local stores and the beach.
This whole project is un-needed, a waste of tax-dollars, will make the area function worse with more road noise. To top is off - it will be ugly as sin.
The City really needs to get a real City Manager and replace the Blakespear City Hall. Otherwise, the current developer friendly / resident hating City Hall employees continue their destruction of Encinitas.

The City of Encinitas needs a real City Manager.
Back in Feb, The incompetent City Manager's team brought forward a report that shows the City has a huge DUI problem on its hands. Drunks and Druggies nearly passed out behind their wheels are crashing into roundabouts while not killing innocent children and moms which his nice for a change.
Remember this is the same team that brought the City the sharrows on high-speed highways, the Santa Fe disaster, and the team that says the existing conditions where Emery and Emily dies are just fine and nothing needs no changes. The team is led the incompetent folks that listen to other incompetent folks like Blakespear's gimp and an East Encinitas knuckle-head.
The city’s traffic engineer initially brought forward a proposal to add metal bollards to the roundabout edges in February, but several council members asked for more research, saying they wanted something prettier given the location.
On Wednesday, the city’s mayor, who had preferred the bollard option in February, said he would support the new proposal, but worried that crashing vehicles may continue to be a problem at the roundabout. If so, the new wooden-sleeved posts may sustain a great deal of damage and need to be regularly replaced, he said.
“I’ll go for this because it’s an inexpensive approach,” Mayor Bruce Ehlers said, adding that he’ll be checking back in a year or two and deciding then whether it’s worth it to keep the wooden sleeves.

The City never addressed the core problem - The problem is the extremely high DUI problem in the oversaturated Encinitas down town PB-style bar scene.
The roundabout is working great for non-wasted legal drivers and the surrounding community who use it like children and mothers walking to farmers market, the local stores and the beach.
This whole project is un-needed, a waste of tax-dollars, will make the area function worse with more road noise. To top is off - it will be ugly as sin.

After a national recruitment effort, finalists for the CEO job were Major, Orso and Patti Boekamp, a former director of engineering and capital projects for San Diego.
