Houbeck was trying to convey that a lot has changed in the last 300 years with regard to the way African Americans were treated, nothing wrong with that. Houbeck immediately described why he said what he said and clarified his statement, even apologizing if some misread or misunderstood what he said.
Where was Mali and Marlon and their out of town speakers when Blakespear said, "lets all try to be a little less white." That was a completely racist remark. What if she said, "lets all try to be a little less Black"?
Steve Houbeck has fought as an attorney for the underpriveleged and has fought against ICE court matters defending the latin community. His record reflects that.
Even a well known African American organization's director stated, that this should be a learning experience for all of us and there's no reason to remove Steve Houbeck because a few politically divided people were misinterpreting what he said.
Further more, Mali said Steve has history of statement like this, but no evidence of that was presented to council.
This is pure political theatre by some bad apples who want to divide our community in hopes of taking the stage and gaining power. Just like Mali did at her BLM rally with Blakespear where they called all white people inherently racist and "lets all try to be a little less white."
Shame on you Mali, Marlon and Joy Lyndes. What have you done for the good of this community except point your fingers and scream "racist".

I think you're missing the point about E4E. That was more an effort to create an org she could lead and maybe get paid from. I recognize his name but I was not familiar with his donations, comments, positions, etc. I did see his post when it first went up by coincidence. In my opinion it was clearly racist. Not just an ignorant mistake, but mocking people. Multiple people asked him to take it down and asked the admin to remove it. Neither were willing to.

He went on about that's why he'd never do something stupid like jazz hands to limit how people participate. Now he's threatening to eject people for standing silently at their seats?

I've watched just about every council meeting for the last couple decades and I've never seen such blatant and intentional suppression. Hopefully people are already on the FOI requests. It was awesome for Luke to prove again what everyone already knows. Luke, Jim, Bruce and Marco see residents who don't agree with them and want to hold them accountable as enemies. Who knows if Luke is so fucking dumb that he doesn't realize that his description fit perfectly to describe his puppetmasters and donors for the past 6 years. Since he had no political involvement until his election he genuinely may not know.....or he's just as clueless and lacking in self awareness as they are. Most importantly though, Luke made it loud and clear that he regrets nothing about his road rage attack, believes he did nothing wrong and its the residents to blame.
Then there's Jim. Watchdork Jim. WHATEVER bullshit he was even referring to...THAT was the most vile thing you've seen???? After all those Watchdork years and the absolutely despicable and often times frightening garbage directed at the previous councils and anyone who supported them. Luke nailed, "every time there's a divisive moment we see the same people coming in, the same faces." "Did anyone even reach out to Steve Houbeck to understand his thought process and why he said what he said?" No.

Houbeck was trying to convey that a lot has changed in the last 300 years with regard to the way African Americans were treated, nothing wrong with that. Houbeck immediately described why he said what he said and clarified his statement, even apologizing if some misread or misunderstood what he said.
Where was Mali and Marlon and their out of town speakers when Blakespear said, "lets all try to be a little less white." That was a completely racist remark. What if she said, "lets all try to be a little less Black"?
Steve Houbeck has fought as an attorney for the underpriveleged and has fought against ICE court matters defending the latin community. His record reflects that.
Even a well known African American organization's director stated, that this should be a learning experience for all of us and there's no reason to remove Steve Houbeck because a few politically divided people were misinterpreting what he said.
Further more, Mali said Steve has history of statement like this, but no evidence of that was presented to council.
This is pure political theatre by some bad apples who want to divide our community in hopes of taking the stage and gaining power. Just like Mali did at her BLM rally with Blakespear where they called all white people inherently racist and "lets all try to be a little less white."
Shame on you Mali, Marlon and Joy Lyndes. What have you done for the good of this community except point your fingers and scream "racist".

Then the agitators continue verbally berate, yell, scream and interrupt any and all speakers or council members who trying to discuss what took place. Bob Ayers yelling at council from inside the chambers while council is speaking, that democracy Bob.
Finally these people were removed. They were given ample warning and didn't care. They demand respect when they speak but refuse to give it back when other speak. That's not democracy that's spoiled adult children that don't understand basic civil behavior.
Those darn townspeople object to being the subject of racist/sexist/whatever attacks from the boy's donors.
