A woman died Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle while crossing El Camino Del Norte, authorities said.
The collision occurred around 7:15 p.m. in the 2700 block of El Camino Del Norte, according to Sgt. Kristy Trampus of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

That newscast didn’t highlight any information regarding whether the driver was :
Delete1. DUI- which we all know is proudly throughout Encinitas.
2. Distracted driver- From my observation anywhere between one and four and one and five drivers are on their phones.
3. Speeding- The article says that that area feels like a freeway or a raceway. Did they check the phone records to see how fast the driver was going?
They can now tell how fast people are going by their Bluetooth and their phone.
So the article didn’t mention that the sheriff strap lead to rule out or confirm the level of substances in the driver system?
This should be a must for all injury accidents. There’s so many people driving wasted today - Alcohol, THC, fentanyl, you name it there on it.
Distracted, driving, just look around when you’re driving about 1/4 of the drivers are staring at their phone not the road.
Speeding - People wanna get from A to point B as fast as possible and they speed through town. They don’t care about your Neighborhood or kid they just wanna get to where they’re going and get to their home where they then complain about speeding in their neighborhood.
How many speeding tickets, distracted, driving, and DUI pull over checks and arrest have been made in that area?
Is there any enforcement in Encinitas?

These deaths are directly attributable to the past two City Councils and their misguided and inept attempts to make roads safer for cyclists and to a lesser extent pedestrians. The current city council is determined to restore safety and has the support of legitimate cycling organizations and actual transportation experts, unlike the Blakespear and Kranz Councils. It is no secret that Catherine Blake Spear allowed her husband, a physicians assistant, strong influence in the proven dangerous road designs that to this day she insists on calling improvements. The new council is not acting out of ideology to force us out of our cars but rather out of sound and proven road design that takes every form of transportation into account for safety. No spouses involved!

Walking anywhere there's traffic, in terms of crossing a street, is super dangerous, even if you have the right of way. Encinitas is a major cut through between the 5 and inland communities. People are moving at a high rate of speed and are more distracted than ever. So are walkers. The number of people I see crossing against lights, looking down at phones etc is off the charts. Quit trying to blame people who are out of office and start working to make our roads safer....
