The new supervisor said addressing homelessness would be a top priority.
"To combat the rise of homelessness throughout the region, we have to build on a network of individuals committed to resolving this issue through collaboration, through advocacy and through the careful allocation and realignment of the resources," Gaspar said. "We have to define this goal before we ever enter the water. And we have to keep pushing, we have to keep swimming because we have to meet that goal."
She said she has discussed a partnership with San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer on solving the problem of homelessness. She conceded that it would be "a major challenge" to resolve the issue.

Gaspar highlights homelessness as top priority for county
10 News:
What! No mention of the 10,000 low income units that were demolished to make way for market rate housing. The city of San Diego continues to replace low income housing with market rate. That is the problem.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably missing a lot of points here, but I think homelessness problems stem from:
ReplyDelete* Living in an area where rents and other costs of living are high and do nothing but go up.
* Mental and/or physical illness
* Substance abuse
* Lack of work ethics
* Low self esteem
* Badly managing time and money.
* Gambling.
I'm all for helping to shelter the poor. But have to scratch my head when folks driving BMW's having a wallet pregnant with cash use an EBT card in front of me at the market. Or why union workers making $30 hr. are in line weekly at CRC loading their SUV up with free bread. A lot of abuse by some means a lot less for others who need it more.
Reminds me of David Letterman when he was visiting Las Vegas. "A guy bumped into me on the street today and said "Hey! Aren't you David Letterman?"" and I said "That's right!" "Hey, I'm from Indiana too!" and I said "That's great!" then he says "Hey, my wife needs an operation and I'm short about $2000. Do you think you could loan that to me?" and I said "Sure! Would you like some gambling money too?" and he says: "No! We got gamblin' money!""
2:08 You just took Saint Ronnie's "When the young buck ahead of you is buying a T-bone steak" to a new level.
DeleteYeah, while your painting with that broad brush, come over to my house and do some work. How do you know they're union members at CRC, which BTW, is a privately run non-profit that does great work in our community....

Delete"How do you know they're union members at CRC?"
Because one of them I helped to become a union member and was a weekly fixture there in line for years. I said nothing amiss about CRC. They don't screen the people in line to determine they're too well off for free-loading food.
Is Gaspar coaching a swim team or using vague metaphors to sound profound? Give all the homeless a voucher to Gaspar Physical Therapy!
ReplyDeleteIt's called NLP or neurolinguistic programming (or "scripting). They are specific words or gestures that are directed at a specific person or group that may have a separate meaning to them. Like when she used to repeatedly wiped her nose at CC meetings. She is a master of ridiculously lame NLP as are all CC members in Encinitas.
Delete". . . we have to build on a network of individuals committed to resolving this issue through collaboration. . ."
ReplyDeleteI put this into Google Translate. Not sure what the source language was, but this was the output in US English:
"I have no idea what to do about this, but it makes me sound nice to help people I normally wouldn't talk to on the street. Here's some more word salad written by a staffer to make me sound smart and kind."
Did you hear her reasons for voting for Trump? Same meaningless word salad.
Delete7:30 PM Hilarious! New translation - "Oh ma God!"
DeleteAttention Stepford Wife Programmers!
DeleteBarbie needs flash reprogramming - her circuitry is beginning to overload!
Empty words as usual by GASpar. She needs to invite one homeless person into her home so they can eat, sleep and take a shower.
DeleteWill GASpar accept this challenge and lead the way? Just think what a life lesson this would be for her kiddos.
Whatever they are planning to do do to "help" the homeless in SD is very likely not going to be nice. Hopefully Trump will be good for the homeless vets.
ReplyDelete3:16 You actually think Trump is charitable?
DeleteHe's a con man out for himself, his relatives and his cronies.
12:10 PM His son-in-law will be his 'advisor'. I wonder how much that pays? Yea - it is rape and pillage time for the Chump Trumps!
DeleteGaspar's rambling diatribe reminds me of a flustered beauty contestant trying to answer a question without a clue of what she is saying.
ReplyDeleteIts the popular thing to do today. Declare war on homeless. It will work out just about as good as the war on drugs and the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
ReplyDeleteKristin Gaspar was the only Supervisor who voted against their pay raise, which was just on the agenda, for the County. All of the public speakers opposed the Board's raise, there, but it went through.
ReplyDeleteGASpar may have voted NO for the raise because she knew the others would approve it and it would pass. She wanted to look good to the voters who just elected her. Give them time, they will find out what a conniver she really is.
DeleteI didn't hear her say she would forego the raise for herself. Of course NOT.
2:19 AM Looks good, but was for show only. She knew where it was going, regardless of her vote.
