New Encinitas is the big loser in the new election districts map the Encinitas City Council adopted by a 3-2 vote on Nov. 15.
The city’s largest traditional community has been completely disempowered by blatant gerrymandering. Cardiff and Leucadia are in control of the main street that runs through our community (El Camino Real). The north end of our community has been severed and given over to control by Leucadia, the south and west have been given over to control by Cardiff, and nothing in this truncated New Encinitas can be promoted without aligning with the concerns of Olivenhain.
New Encinitas, the largest community in the city, has been made powerless. It and El Camino Real have been set up to become the dumping ground for all of Encinitas’s problems. It’s as if this had been the explicit goal in the first place, which it may well have been given the recent revelation in The Coast News that the new map is not a “citizen” map, but the personal product of a coastal council member who benefits politically from the new districts.

New Encinitas disenfranchised by council gerrymandering
Coast News:
Poor Joe Mosca; he was told to vote this way by Blakespear and Horvath. Now he'll pay the political price since he just pissed off the people who will vote him out of office in 2018. Joe doesn't really care about New Encinitas, this is obvious!
ReplyDeleteJoe is a tool and this just proves it.
DeleteTool or Stool. Both maybe.
ReplyDeleteI would say wide open candidate field. Who will step up?

ReplyDeleteSeriously unfunny. Mosca's bad news, but you're just juvenile and not funny, 6:03.
DeletePersonally, am looking forward to Mosca losing it like he did multiple times in Sierra Madrid. Then watch for a "technical issue" so there's no video record of it.
Censorship - fake news?
DeleteJoe Mosca can't think for himself!
ReplyDeleteHe buys his current seat from the majority after living in the city for a whole 2 years (against someone who's lived in the city for 50 years and ran for office "Brandenburg") AND like the city he came from - he was and is brought off by developers!!! I'm surprised he's not out there now raising money for Tasha!
He's hosting or co-hosting a fundraiser for Tasha!
DeleteAnyone going? Be sure to bring a smart phone, turn the recording app on and ask lots of questions. Then post it here.
DeleteFrom Mosca's newsletter:
Delete"So I'd like to enthusiastically invite you to a fundraiser co-hosted by Mayor Catherine Blakespear and me on Sunday, December 17 from 1-3 p.m. to support our City Council colleague, Tasha Boerner Horvath, in her run for California State Assembly District 76, an election that is just one year away."
The man with the Ivanka Trump smile.
DeleteJoe Mosa is a polished LIAR!
ReplyDeleteCheck this out!

Whoa! Joe and Catherine both use the identical 4 points extolling Tasha's virtues in their newsletter.
ReplyDeleteI guess neither could think of anything good to say about her, so Tasha ended up detailing her own super outstanding qualities.
Disgusting.
What! Joe being told what to say by Tasha! What a surprise - NOT!
ReplyDeleteHopefully, there will be a candidate next year from the New Encinitas/ Olivenhain district that will come forward to make Joe a one and done candidate.
ReplyDeleteWe could use others to come forward in some districts to finally oust a council seat or two that is long overdue to be replaced.
Some council members have shown their stripes and should be sent packing. Denying history should be a defining factor as we go forward.
Believing that a couple of favorable votes changes anything is naive. The same goes for a couple of positive votes that are obviously a ploy to bring support. Anyone who believes a tiger can change his spots is far too gullible to be believed.
Have at it. I don't believe for a second that one who has been a tool for some former disgraced council members could ever genuinely change his spots. Don't buy into it.
The limited choices we have, is no excuse to buy into one whose past behavior is defining.
I want some independent candidates who don't get their marching orders from the party kings and queens. Nobody on this council has demonstrated original or independent leadership.
DeleteI don't trust Muir, but will still take his good votes as long as I can get them. That's more than I can say for the other four: I don't trust them AND they're not giving us the votes.
DeleteSo far the four have turned out to be bigger developer tools than Muir every threatened.
Divide and conquer is at work once again.
ReplyDeleteHopefully next year we will have a choice that we don't have at the present. Hope springs eternal.
With the current seed change in allowable behavior of men toward women. slimy mikeys on going rants against a respected citizen deserves to called out for what it is. Bullying.
ReplyDeleteIt is about time for him to be sued, if he continues to disrespect someone who never posts here. You can bet that every single one of his attacks are on record and saved.
How many times will it take before he is finally made to pay his dues by legal proceedings? It appears that is what is will take for him to relent.
That day is coming slimy mikey, and it can't come soon enough.
4:03pm. You are right not to trust him. Consider his base that has not gone anywhere. They are still there. Stocks, Andreen, Gaspar, et al.
ReplyDeleteDivide and conquer. It works.
We all now this to be true. Some may be able to overlook past and current alliances, while others cannot. We all care enough to become engaged, and on that, we are all together.
The hope that next year we will have genuine choices that we don't have now, may be a pipe dream.
I'll take Muir any day over the other 3. After 8 years on the council, give me 1 example on why I can't trust him. I can give you many on why I can. Please don't use the he's friends with...
DeleteEncinitas Community Park - favored extra soccer fields and lights over community objections.
DeleteShow us the vote! Who made the motion and what was the outcome.
DeleteDon't let Encinitas and San Diego become Chicago!
