  4. I’m not sure if y’all got the legal notice but I just heard from a whistleblower inside city hall, πŸœπŸœπŸ—» was trying to get a City Council to arrange a special city Council meeting for 2 AM tonight. The only agenda Item is to focus on how they can get this massive tax increase approved by the stupid voters of Encinitas.

She says her job is kind of stressful (because she needs it while looking for another gig) and she needs way more pay for dealing with town dunces and clowns.

She got Phony to agree to it because she said she’d give her four packages of Boner pills, the rest from agreed, because of some special favors promised , the only one that wouldn’t agree was Bruce.

Watch πŸœπŸœπŸ—». The Rod Stewart wanna be is up to no good.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who care about Encinitas future and do the right thing like supported prop A , and all of the excellent public speakers, we get out the council meetings. That’s the only thing that really makes a difference in this former nice surf town that’s been sold out to the developers.

  6. It was recently argued here that the risk posed by cars and airplanes in Encinitas is fundamentally different because one chooses to assume risk when they travel by car, but they make no such exercise of free will with the risk from aircraft.

    Let’s debunk that.

First, let’s agree that both cars and aircraft are metal boxes that travel at high speeds transporting humans from point A to point B. Both are regulated, and both require a license to operate. Both operate under a set of rules and regulations enforced by the government. Both represent a convenience, and not a necessity, as there are other modes of travel available, although they may not be as convenient or desirable to the operator. Also, the US grants significant freedom to choose how, where, and when we want to travel.

So cars and aircraft are very similar in most respects. The only major difference is the altitude of the metal transportation box.

As to the argument that we consciously assume risk when we travel by car, this is true only for the people inside the car. Pedestrians are receiving none of the benefits of car travel, and have not agreed to the risk. And yet, pedestrians are routinely killed in Encinitas by a mode of transport that they are not participating in. See article below.

On the other hand, zero people have been injured much less killed by aviation accidents in the history of Encinitas.

In summary, cars kill people in Encinitas. Both those who choose to drive and ride in them, and those who choose not to. Aircraft have never killed anyone in Encinitas—neither people who choose to ride or fly in one, nor people who opt not to.

The logical conclusion is that if you are going to spend your time trying to ban a metal transportation box based on its risk to people who opt out of using it, the clear focus of your efforts would logically be the automobile.

Unless of course your real motive is that you are just a selfish and jealous sky-screaming bed wetter.

  13. R Hill is angry that homeless people sleep on benches.

R Hill also opposes the city funding transition services to help the homeless get back into permanent housing.

So what’s the solution? Let me guess. Somewhere else.

Let’s spend money moving the problem somewhere else. Never mind that every somewhere else is spending money to move the problem right back.

Spend money that does nothing to solve the problem, and just moves it around.

    ReplyDelete

    1. What permanent housing? Please be specific.

      Delete
    2. 9:45,

Excellent question. You probably should do some reading to understand the spectrum of services to migrate people back into employment, sobriety, mental health, PTSD treatment for veterans, and eventually a permanent home. Sometimes permanent housing needs to be in the context of continuing supportive services, sometimes not. For some people, a rapid transition to an apartment with a subsidy for a few weeks is all they need.

One size doesn’t fit all, as the root causes can be different. What’s needed is the whole spectrum of services and emergency shelter beds while each case is assessed and a custom transition plan is made. The whole spectrum needs to be available in every town, with some services local, and others coordinated and delivered at the regional level, based on the density of need and the availability of skilled service providers.

Maybe start your learning journey here:

      https://www.kpbs.org/news/midday-edition/2018/03/01/moving-san-diego-homeless-tents-permanent-housing

But don’t be one of those assholes who refuse to do reading and just want to waste money moving the problem around.

Other pilots pickup children at Scripps Encinitas Hospital and whisk them to Rady Children’s which has special equipment for small bodies. Sometimes avoiding surface traffic is the difference between life and death.

You know how all of these pilots get their start?

By mastering ground reference maneuvers and logging hours in small, single engine aircraft rented from a small flight school under the guidance of certified flight instructors (CFI).

    1. Wow. Wikipedia.

My only wish is the FFA and feds would start restricting lead in all gas including airplanes. It’s a completely out of date technology to lubricate engines with lead, and it causes brain damage.

And planes should be use mufflers and be much quieter. there’s absolutely no reason why they should be that loud.

      Delete
    2. More importantly, what did you think of Garvin’s first date w Phony?

      Delete
    3. 7:01,

The transition away from lead has begun. Any changes to aviation happen very slowly and deliberately for safety reasons. There are many different combinations of airframe, engine, fuel pumps, fuel lines, etc that have to be considered and tested. Each aircraft has a placard installed that defines approved fuel for that specific aircraft, and all of those placards have to be changed.

The no lead fuel has now been approved for all types. But it will take time to ramp up the whole system of production, distribution, and storage.

As for mufflers, most of the sound coming from small fixed wing aircraft isn’t coming from the engine. It comes from the prop, the tips of which are moving at transsonic speeds and constantly shedding high-energy vortices. Research is ongoing into prop configurations (e.g. more blades, curved or swept blades). One of the promising ares of study is toroidal propellers:

“Rail is not going away,” Kranz said. “It’s really silly to think of the notion of getting rid of the train.”

    https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/transportation/story/2023-11-26/sandag-still-noodling-with-possible-del-mar

    Here are the facts:

The 65 mile segment of coastal train tracks running from San Diego to San Clemente are failing due to unstoppable erosion on the beach and bluffs. The proposed rerouting of the train tracks via massive tunnels in Del Mar and San Clemente could cost a staggering $20 billion for a poor performing train line with mostly empty trains.

Option 2) Convert the Tracks to a Popular Trail.

The Rail-to-Trail movement is helping cities convert abandoned and struggling rail lines into biking & walking trails that also serve as dynamic community hubs. In total, there are now over 2,000 different rail-to-trails in the U.S. , the most popular of which are New York's High Line and Atlanta's Beltline. Converting these tracks into a backbone infrastructure trail for the region (The Surf Line Trail) would likely result in one of the most popular trails in America.

There has been a tremendous number of exaggerated claims and misinformation made on behalf of the coastal train. Get the facts including:

I-5 Highway ridership 250x greater than the Coaster train

Rail makes up only 0.5% of total freight in San Diego versus 91.4% for trucks.

Coaster riders are predominantly high income earners.

Obamacare became law 14 years ago. And in the last 14 years, what happened to the death panels? Why aren’t Newsmax and OANN reporting on them? Where are Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson on this issue?

Either they are being very generous and kind to the legacy of Barack Obama by covering up the mass murder of elderly people by a Democratic bureaucracy, or they were open, blatant, shitbag dirty liars.

So that everyone understands, a private plane flying over and over and over 10's of thousands not living near an airport...
