If you buy an electric car today, it could last 20 years.

Now project the trends in the chart forward 20 years.

The carbon impact of running an electric car get better every year.

Sales of internal combustion engine cars peaked in 2019, and have entered a secular decline. Car companies are not going to invest R&D money in a shrinking market. Shrinking markets invite cost cutting and cutting corners. ICE vehicles are set to become shittier and shittier over the years.

There’s a beautiful lot for sale where the previous owner shot their neighbor over the hedge a while back. It was offered at $6.5 million. As mayor, I went in and made an offer at $10.5 million so we would not be out bid.

I directed the city manager to secure financing immediately for escrow.

Anthill said no problem. Encinitas has an A+++++++++++ credit rating for Mexican and Ukrainian Bonds. We can borrow as much as we want.

We will call it the “Encinitas Music Center” specializing in music from around the world from people with various skin colors, some even have different eye colors and hair colors. It would be very equity-based and inclusive…. People would play the music from around the world and we’d have various smells from around the world flood the area.

There is an active law suit and very well written article on this exact issue quoting local historian Gary Murphy of the history of the City making the drainage for Leucadia worst by not managing the valve correctly.

What does the City do? They do the exact same thing again.... again and again..... More law suit money flying out the door.

Tony knows all about it. Anthill is responsible, and you the tax payers pay for their incompetence. Again and again.

  21. How many times can Tony and Anthill fuck up without getting fired?

Another bone of contention is the city’s alleged mismanagement of the sluice-gate valve, which was installed as part of the Leucadia Storm Drain Project. Since its construction, the city has left the valve slightly open to avoid potential flooding of the Vulcan-Union intersection and nearby mobile home community.

However, the city engineer who designed the Leucadia Storm Drain Project said the sluice gate was explicitly designed to be kept closed to keep Leucadia’s inlets from being overwhelmed during a major storm event.

Phillip L. Pillsbury, who litigated the Locklin case on behalf of the plaintiffs, and land use attorney Bradford Kuhn, both told The Coast News that the city could be liable for damages caused to downstream properties when water is unnaturally diverted, even if it is accidental and within the same natural watershed.

  22. Everybody knows that in Encinitas you need to sew the City to get anything done.

Not only did the City complete screw up mismanaging the drainage in Leucadia, the City made it twice as bad and twice the runoff by converting all the pervious dirt rail rail areas along the rail rail to impervious parking pods on both N. Coast Hwy 101 and Vulcan Avenue.

City screws up again and again.
    Ruins peoples property
    City gets sewed.

  23. What is Gaspar’s enduring legacy? What is Muir’s? What is Stocks’? What is Barth’s? Or Boerner-Horvath’s?

    Not much.

But Catherine Blakespear built a machine. She recruited other candidates and mentored them. She drove the agenda. She never lost an election and got her way on hundreds of issues than came before council. She got shit done, including getting the city out of an intractable housing debacle with the state that had festered for decades. And the voters recognized and rewarded her work with a promotion. Even today a few years after she moved on, the machine she built continues to dominate and execute her favored policies. That machine has relegated the opposition to irrelevancy. They are a disorganized joke.

That’s why Blakespear is the GOAT. That’s why she’s still the number one mention on EU, EV, and EN.

And that’s why she could be a future governor GOAT.

  29. “Independent” Trumper Thunderhole pushing Voter ID.

There’s a way to do it where it’s not discriminatory against urban voters who live where public transportation is a viable option, and parking is difficult and expensive. Many of these people don’t have a driver’s license. Creating an additional step that takes several hours for them to get a state ID where suburban and rural voters generally won’t need to is a targeted burden to lower urban voter turnout.

The right way to do it is to turn the Federal Social Security Card that every American citizen gets by default into a picture ID suitable for voting. Every American already gets the SS card, and we need it to get a job. Just make it a Federal ID card with a photo. That way every citizen has the same opportunity and the same burden.

    3. 11:28,

I haven’t been carded in many years at a liquor store, grocery or bar. I’m not in school or college. I have never been asked for my ID to enter a school or doctor’s office. I haven’t cashed a check in decades.

If I lost my ID and lived in an urban area without a car and didn’t need to fly, I’m not sure I would replace it.

I’m okay with voter ID as long as the opportunity, access, and burden is the same for everyone. That’s why a federal national ID / social security card makes sense. Not everyone gets a DMV ID, and urban voters are less likely to have one. The burden is not equal. But every citizen gets a Soc Security card.

    How do I know?

Well when Julie Thunder publicly attacks Tony Kranz, it’s obvious.

    Yesterday Julie said this:

“Tony Kranz saying we were founded by people who didn't want apartments! OMG!!!! I was here during incorporation and never EVER heard an argument like that. It was all about the developers building 3-story ocean view homes with almost no setbacks, and the County allowing whatever commercial development that submitted plans to proceed.

“Maybe Tony Kranz can share where he saw the reason we incorporated, as many of us never heard this until reading this article. You are the Mayor and many are wondering where you came up with why we incorporated, as so far no one has said they heard anything like that when we did incorporate. I know I didn't. Admit you are wrong, or show us where it says the reason we incorporated is because of what you said in this article. Anyway, since I am still sick, I'll go back and read the reasons myself. That's the beauty of the Internet.” - Lorri Greene

I checked with folks who actually worked on incorporation and were there for the effort. One put in nearly 2,000 hours to the cause. One woman walked while 8-9 months pregnant in the effort to incorporate. Of your claim, both "never even heard that brought to the table." Both said that the reason was to break free of the county.

Your assertion sounds manufactured and intended to marshal public opinion against and demonize local control advocates.” - Susan Turney

      Delete
    10. “ According to things that I’ve read, to include commentary from many that local control and protection from overdevelopment were reasons why the incorporation was successful.

And that part of the concerns were the development of strip malls and large developments such as Village Park.

In fact, once incorporated, the first action taken by the council was to proclaim a no-growth ‘moratorium’ that put the breaks on a variety of developmental projects both commercial and residential.

So while there isn’t a clear statement about “apartment dwellers” the fact remains that one of the prime drivers for incorporation was to slow the pace of development in the city.

And that sentiment remains especially when the topic of housing, specifically affordable housing comes up.” - Marlon Taylor

My point was, would I be a racist, a confederate flag waiving KKK racist if my doubles partner was black? The same applies for my black tennis partner.

Finally if you think racism only affects African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, you've got a lot of growing up to do and you haven't traveled the world. There's just as much discrimination against whites, do some traveling, get out of Encinitas and you'll see.

There's plenty of areas in Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, etc, where if you're white you're gonna beat.
