Wally the Rotting Whale visits Leucadia

Press-Enterprise:
A dead humpback whale that keeps washing up on the Southern California coast after being towed out to sea is proving to be a headache for beach officials.

A construction crew in Encinitas tried cutting up the rotting carcass Sunday but work was halted when part of a forklift snapped off. They’ll try again Monday and plan to haul it to a landfill.
Here's how one Oregon town dealt with this problem:

  1. We'd better ask permission from The State because as you all know, State law trumps local law.

  2. What's the difference between a rotting whale and a housing elephant?

    1. We talk about a rotting whale when it is on topic? We copy and paste for housing elephant.

      * sigh

    2. 10:09... How about =

      Rotting whale passes and goes away; housing elephant passes and stays.

    3. hehehehe

      Lets pass a "voters right to forklift dead whales" initiative, then tell everyone it will stop density bonus projects.

  4. It is seeking out the stinkiest city, and we win with our council.

  5. The housing plan as it should now be called from here on until we vote it down in November:

    @Home Up Yours Encinitas.

    Just as much of a stinker as any dead whale on our beaches with the sharks circling just the same. May they all choke on it when we elect a new majority of citizens to take back our town from the despoilers. This goes for the Planning Dept. in mass, every sitting council member and all of those others that have declared their candidacies before today.

    Today starts the filing period and we so need a new majority to take us forward.

  6. Maybe Wally the Rotting Whale has arrived in time to run for a council seat. So far, he could be more popular than the competition.

  7. Hey, #deadwhalesmatter Where's baykeeper?? Surfrider?? Marco?? Where are all the folks that scream nature and natural erosion of the beach?? Why isn't this whale left on the shore to decompose as nature intended?? That whale carcass would pound the bluff as nature intended hastening the erosion of the bluff and adding sand to the beach. These guys are wanna be defenders of the beaches...it's all a money game to them, no dead whale can help fill their coffers with ca$h so why bother.

    1. SO TRUE, where are the Environmental Fascists that want to tell us how to live our lives like every one of those blood sucking parasites at the Coast Law Group? Just imagine how many people they have to sue and how many lives they must destroy to pay the rent on perhaps the most expensive office building in North County (retail frontage on PCH in downtown Encinitas....boocoo bucks..."start suing people...we need to pay the rent around here between surf sessions"). Marco Gonzalez, please let the whale decompose on our beaches as they have for millions of years or perhaps you can sue someone for removing it? Apparently it will cost us $80,000 to chop the whale up and then haul it to the dump.

  8. Proof that Muir is not actually on a $20,000 vacation in Europe.

  10. Why aren't we sinking the whale offshore like they did off La Jolla a few years back?

    Seems cheaper and better for the environment than putting 30 tons of rotting flesh into a landfill.

    1. Put it in Muir's council seat while he's away - nobody would notice the difference.
