Let me be the devil's advocate and propose a different perspective to the " cut and paste" theory Encinitas Undercover proposes. I see the approach Graham takes as simple, clear-cut and easy to read and understand. The message received from my perspective is one of a campaign for the "Everyman". He isn't trying to impress anyone with jargon or any impressive rhetoric.
Phil has a propagandist, like Hillary Clinton and George Soros it seems paid trolls also work at local levels to read blogs and post favorable candidate comments. What do Phil, Muir and Gaspar have in common with Hillary? Cronyism. Insiders get paid citizens get screwed. Misinformation is rewarded.
Phil has been trying to impress everyone as his policies benefit no one - except his campaign donors. Who are his donors? Developers, developers, developers.
The developer dream ticket- Gaspar , Muir Graham. Clear cut, easy to understand,
Remember when he was going to run for assembly? When Chavez dropped out of the Assembly race, this bumped out Graham. Now we get to have a guy who's never been involved locally run for city council..
Remember that Phil Graham thinks that Encinitas is his rightfully deserved consolation prize after he had to suspend his other campaign for State Assembly earlier this year. With his "step-son of Pete Wilson" pedigree and a "professional campaign manager" helping him out, why would he need much more than a boilerplate campaign?
Oh... and I for one welcome his strong stance on protecting our many bays. Someone needs to save these precious natural resources for all of us to enjoy.
I think Phil sent away for a mail order do-it-yourself campaign kit (So you're running for city council...). Or he downloaded it from the Internet. He dutifully put the name "Encinitas" in all the right blanks (city name here) but forgot to edit some of the text to give it local flavor. Understandable mistake.
The sheriff wanted extra personnel, but agreed to consider placement priorities. Sheriffs should not be on the beach - why have lifeguards then? This is probably used to reward deputies, as this is complete slack duty. It seems Encinitas is over-staffed with support personnel or they are deployed wrong.
The overpriced, overbuilt, life guard tower bid should not be awarded. The admin duties of life guards should be handled at City Hall, less distractions. The "life guarding" duties are and should be staged in the portable towers used up and down the coast line.
Sheriffs should not have a room in the tower. they should only be called to the beach when their is a problem. Maybe on forth of July, they could consider periodic patrols of the beach. There are way more violators on the roads than on the beaches. City Council and the City Manager need to direct the Sheriffs in a more effective manner. The sheriffs operations are wasteful of taxpayer money.
Keep the sheriffs on the streets issuing tickets for violators, not staring at bikinis on the beaches.
You should be ashamed of yourself. This guy is the furtherest thing from a local and he is a total tool for developers to profit at the expense of the character of, and quality of life, in Encinitas.
He has a better fit better running for Huntington Beach City Council..... and whens the last time Phil was in the water surfing? 1992 at his 3rd surf lesson? Come on!!!

ReplyDeleteA lot of generic fluff in his campaign promises. "I'll vote for balanced budgets" is like saying "I open my eyes in the morning" - what's the alternative - "I'll over-spend"? Protecting the ocean resources is mainly State and Federal. Protecting you from crime - zzzzzzz - another cliché. What about pension reform? The infrastructural repair delays? What specifically does he recommend to keep the area from being environmentally pillaged by developers? His one plus is that the candidate pool represents our national choices too - minimal.

This mailer shows how lazy and ill informed Graham really is. I'll vote for him when he leads a tour of the world famous Encinitas Bay. So pathetic.
