Tasha triumphs

Did anyone get the license plate on that Mack truck that hit the city council?

Tasha Boerner-Hovarth came out of nowhere, spent a brief time on the planning commission, spent less than two years on city council, gerrymandered Mark Muir out of a council seat, helped kill Measure U, and got elected to the state assembly over the strenuous objection of her council colleague.

That's more in two years than any Encinitas council member we can recall has accomplished in multiple terms!

  1. Classic. She left the other in Awe and Muir with his thumb up his big fat A##. Last great thing she could do to really help Encinitas would be to convince her freindime Blakespear to fire the train wreck City Manager and hire a good one for Encinitas.

That would be a true gift to Encinitas that would keep on giving for years to come.

Tasha - Please don't leave Encinitas in this tailspin. Go out on a high note truly doing some positive change for Encinitas.

  2. Tasha was chosen and shaped by the Dem party. Behind the fast-moving success story is deceit, an easy willingness to lie, and an attitude of dismissiveness toward residents. Her "I know what's best" attitude has become the hallmark of this council and she's right in there with the rest of them.

Good luck to her filibustering style in Sacramento. They'll either eat her alive to her absolute disbelief or she'll exit headed for the White House.

Think of all the time freed up in council. Perhaps Blakespear, ever concerned that clapping is a time sink, will leave off chastising the clappers.

  3. I can't believe the citizens of Encinitas and assembly district 76 were stupid enough to elevate TBH to higher office. Guess all those PAC-funded glossy mailers worked - anyone can win an election if they sell their soul to the highest bidder. She's done no good in this town, and is deceptive and disingenuous, from claiming she's a businessowner (she has a tiny etsy shop) and trying to conceal her gerrymandering. I'm sure her young kids will appreciate her traveling to Sacramento all the time.

Who will fill her seat? Encinitas can't afford a special election, and it has to be someone from her district. Maybe some Clark Ave folks will throw their hats in the ring?

  4. Her etsy shop makes her a "businesswoman?" Please, talk about false advertising. Warren would have had a better chance suing Tasha over that than the underhanded crap Tasha pulled on Warren.

I'm sure Busby in her wisdom advised Horvath to pull out all the stops.

I'm sure Shaffer in her wisdom advised the same. After all, she pulled a similar stunt when she had Julie Graboi blackballed from the Democratic clubs by falsely claiming Julie was a tea party member. Julie was too nice in setting the record straight on the side. Me? I'd have had Shaffer up on charges for libel and slander.

  5. Hey if Gaspar is a CFO, then TBH is a businesswoman.

At least she is smart enough and has the integrity to know the piss poor plan that staff recommended was pure shit and would not put her name to it.

How about the others? Either they are dumb as hell or they support selling out the City in order to save face with some super low performing staff. Good Job TBH! Way to look out for Encinitas future and not be a sell out, because staff recommends it.

They should have demanded that staff go with the low end numbers not the pumped up numbers supported by the developers, and stripped Prop A.... Geeze!! WTF? Why would they have supported such a bad plan?

  6. TBH is all about power, ego and knowing better than everybody else. She doesn't sincerely care about Encinitas residents. She went against U only because she was pandering to get Assembly votes. Her campaign was slime.

Eliz Warren would have done a much better job in Sacramento.

  7. Tasha put a hidden message into her secret gerrymandered district maps.

District 3 was elongated so that Mark Muir’s house would be in the district, and each council person would have no incumbent competition within their home district.

But the other reason for the odd boundary is to shape district 3 into a hand with its middle finger extended.

Now that she’s been elected to higher office, it’s been revealed as a secret final message from Tasha to the voters of Encinitas.

  8. Horvath has no "integrity." Had she not gone for higher office, she would have been right there with the YES on U crew. Don't fool yourself.

  9. So why are we wasting otherwise perfectly good vitriol for someone who no longer affects Encinitas? Why not save it for the Court's response to Measure U, BIA lawsuits and Blakespear's stranglehold on city politics?

    1. Uh, last I looked, Encinitas is in Assembly District 76.

    2. Oh yea, now I remember all the tirades and indignation every time Rocky did or did not do something. How many posts were written about him? How relevant was he to this blog? Not!

    3. Rocky never lived in Encinitas, wasn't on the Planning Commission and wasn't on the City Council. THB is all three.

    4. The voters in this city need to remember this so the same mistakes aren't repeated. Hubbard announced her run for council just 4 months after starting on the planning commission. Even shorter than TBH. She'll probably go for Assembly in 2020 when TBH runs for governor.

    5. And the Busby puppet master will make all the necessary arrangements.

  10. Mark Muir being "gerrymandered out" of his council seat is just an excuse... after all, he won Cardiff in 2016. Hubbard beat him fair and square.

    1. Hubbard beat him because he sat back and thought everyone was going to come to him. He thought big signs made up for face time.

Hubbard beat him because Blakespear trotted her around to the all the meetings they attended held in private homes. You can imagine the lies they spread on a variety of topics in these little coffee klaches. They tell them in public, you can imagine what they said behind closed doors.

    2. How so since there weren't districts in '16?

    3. 3:13 Muir barely made it back on to the council in 2016. He got 3rd place in an at-large election...behind Tony K and the TBH machine. He did not "win Cardiff" - he barely squeezed by an an incumbent.

  11. 5:05 - you can get results by precinct for 2016 and compare

  12. Tasha doesn't even live in her council district. She gerrymandered district map and then moved to Kranz district.

  13. I like Tasha. Voted for her too. But have to agree about her fast career. She came out of nowhere as an old time local I never met and before ya know it is on top of the political pile at a speed that rivaled Gaspar.

  14. All but a few votes for Tasha were to get her off our council. She's worse than Shaffer. She thinks she knows better than everybody else, is all about power and imposing her will.
