Reportedly, a developer bought the Shadow Mountain Church next to the Bobby Riggs pickleball club, and found that pickleball violates the city's noise ordinance.
The city recently shut down 2/3 of the club's courts.

at the city council meeting. The community, inclusion, charity, health,
activity and friendships Riggs fosters was very well communicated.
My wife and I were in tears as your love for the sport and riggs became apparant.
Thank you.
I would appreciate the following to show cooperation with the city and neighbors
as we work to rectify the noise situation.
1. I ordered 96 quiet play paddles which I will give out, for free, to anyone who wishes to use
one at Riggs until I get the sound barriers in place. Do not buy one, use mine as provided.
They begin to arrive very soon. Your cooperation is helpful.
2. I will receive bids in the next 30 days for sound barriers.
3. I will commence construction within 90 days.
4. Once sound barriers are in place, full compliance should allow any paddle you choose to play with.
Until then, please consider helping me out by using a quiet play paddle. I am not mandating quiet play paddles
at this time, just suggestsing that they will help me out.

A month ago I played a private game with quiet play paddles at a friends house who had the court shut down for
noise. Four of us played, and we laughed and laughed and laughed! It was super fun.
Pickleball is headed in the direction of loud paddles indoors and quiet paddles outdoors.
I prefer to be a leader instead of a follower. I predict a time when all players will have 2 paddles in their bag
depending on where they are playing. That time is not too far away according to recent rulings.

Resurfacing courts is already budgeted for this spring, and I hope to schedule sound barriers
in conjuction with resurfacing MAKING RIGGS GREAT AGAIN by turning this

ReplyDeleteSo let me get this straight. Upwards of 38% percent of Californians voted for Trump. A record. Trump won the electoral college and the popular vote nationwide. Another record.
ReplyDeleteOur 5 seat council was packed for years with white progressive democrats. The last two white progressive mayors spent us into a hole.
In November, the electorate, not social media, clearly voted for three new candidates, all no party preference. There was still one progressive Democrat on the council.
Bruce, unlike his two predecessors didn’t get his way on his D4 appointment pick. Instead we got a Republican of color, which means we now have a fairly balanced council who won’t all agree with one another.
Seems to me that democracy actually worked for a change in Encinitas.
Last night Luke really looked like the leader this city needs. He was strong, prepared and focused. Bruce may be in trouble.
