Seattle negligence looks suspiciously like Santa Fe Drive bike lane fiasco

 Facebook:

The city of Seattle will pay $9.25 million to settle a lawsuit filed by a bicyclist who slammed into a car and suffered a traumatic brain injury while riding in a “protected bike lane” near Green Lake, according to attorneys for the injured man.

The settlement came after King County Superior Court Judge Kent Liu found the city was negligent, violated its own standard of care and breached its duty to the bicycle-riding public in designing the bicycle lane, according to court documents.

  1. Yep, sounds just like Encinitas.

You can thank Bruce Ehlers for hiring experience gal Arizona Jenny

🌵Jenny Implemented these disasters and her and her uneducated snake chase are keeping them in place.

Absolutely horrendous and the taxpayers will pay, and the citizens will pay in grieving and losing family members.

Children die moms are dying and yet, Bruce keeps 🌵Jenny and snake Jace and their bike traps in place. 🤮

RIP - Emily, Emery and all the others.

    2. Yup.

Bruce Ehlers has proved to be a failure.

His most important responsibility and task as Mayor is to hire a good city manager.

What does he do? He hires Blakespear’s, gal, pal, who is a proven insider failure, w no experience as a priority manager, and has a PE background. She’s completely lacking in fiscal stewardship. WTF Ehlers?

We know you love to talk, and bang on the gravel, but you really need to return to the planning commission.

My Lord, when will the City of Encinitas finally get their 💩 together?

      This town needs an enema!

They kept voting in leftists, who possess zero logic and now the place is a dump. Everything the left does it ruins.

  3. Encinitas is running Encinitas like a shit show and completely wasteful.

So much revenue coming in from the gigantic property taxes on our homes and yet the city continues to flounder and waste all of this money. Ehlers and 🌵Jenny are pathetic.

Same team, same perspective, same plans. Same failure for the community.

More pollution reduction is accomplished from stay at home and electric vehicle vehicles. The city shouldn’t be wasting our tax dollars on stupid shit like that.

Fix Leucadia Boulevard it’s gonna kill someone. you only paved a portion of it. Fix Encinitas Boulevard. It looks like shit, coast highways crap, and Vulcan Avenue is crap m, and my residential street and all of the others look like shit.

Get some sheriff deputies on the street giving tickets to all the drunks and distracted drivers. Everybody’s on their freaking phone. The sheriffs need to start giving tickets..

Quit hiring more employees to sit behind monitors and do nothing all day. The last thing we need is more freaking lifeguards doing nothing. And no more fire princesses, please.

  11. There’s some serious payouts going on, and the city will have to raise taxes in order to pay for all of these lost lawsuits and huge settlements . It’s all because of the poor City of Encinitas incompetent leadership.

    https://thecoastnews.com/city-of-encinitas-agrees-to-11-million-settlement-in-walker-lawsuit/

This settlement to Dr. Worley’s family is so high. The city won’t even talk about it.

    https://thecoastnews.com/settlement-talks-begin-in-lawsuit-over-cyclists-death-in-encinitas/

if we get out of the next three or four under $10 million each consider ourselves lucky.

I’m sure the four seasons aren’t done yet. That was a big-time loss considering those delineators and curbs had no reflector tape on them and they were not visible at night. The hazardous conditions were documented and Encinitas will lose that one for sure.

Negligence and liability are real, especially when the hazards are known and the city is noticed and chooses to ignores them.

    1. * I’m sure the four C’s attorneys aren’t done yet. That will be a big-time loss considering those delineators and curbs had no functional reflector tape on them and they were not visible at night. The original reflector tape was all beat up and worn off And the Ballard color was no longer green. It was black, matching darkness. The hazardous conditions were documented and Encinitas will lose that one for sure.

    2. The city has insurance, same insurance they used in the Walker case, which wasn't their fault....

    3. Yeah, right wasn’t their fault that’s why they paid out $11 million. I’m sure Dr. Worley’s was higher.

He was a great man and was killed because of the city negligence.

Same as the four C dad. They should’ve been functional reflector tape at minimum on those bike traps. Lack of maintenance and faulty design caused a hazard. Open and shut case.

City of Encinitas is the worst. RIP.

Their premiums for the insurance. JPA must be scott high considering how many 10 millions of dollars they continually lose.

Pretty much like self insurance. The JPA is probably like, “hey Encinitas you suck and your payouts and premiums are 10 times higher than everybody else else’s.
