Remember those innocent days of yesteryear when shady, unnamed political campaign supporters claiming tax deductions for campaign propaganda would at least pretend to cloak their propaganda in the guise of a generic "thank you" to unnamed, but obvious, incumbent politicians?
That was October 12, 2012.
Today?
Yes, "We Love Encinitas," which is a 501(c)(3) charity, meaning donations to it are tax-deductible, is now naming, quoting, and featuring press photos of the politicians it loves during the peak of the campaign season.
Your federal (and state) tax dollars are paying for Jerome Stocks' and Mark Muir's re-election campaign.
We have gone way beyond "Have you no shame?" and we are now well into "Is there no law or order?" territory. Doesn't anyone know an honest prosecutor or an honest reporter any more?
Don't bitch to me about trillion-dollar deficits if you're not even going to pick up the phone to call the IRS about a blatantly fraudulent use of the charitable non-profit 501(c)(3) status.
No surprise here. The only thing shocking is that they can get away with it without spending time with Bubba at the Graybar Hotel.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how residents would have answered that "We Love Encinitas" survey if there was the question "How do you feel about your tax dollars being used to fund the Stocks and Muir campaigns?"
Dump Stocks!!
ReplyDeleteFire Muir!!
Gaspar-quit, stay at home with your children. They need a full time mother not a part time council person.
Bonds- go away. 20 years of your babbling is enough.
Correction :
DeleteBonds- 20 years of your babbling is 20 years to long.
I will object to that comment about Gaspar.
DeleteWhile Gaspar's council performance leaves much to be desired, a part-time council gig does not mean she is not a wonderful mother and cannot share parenting duties with her husband. In fact, the charge raises the specter of sexism as male council members are not subject to such attacks.
WC - Gaspar may not be able to pat her head and chew gum at the same time.
ReplyDeleteWhere's Teresa Barth on the mailer? Very telling that she has been excluded. I'm very disappointed with Gus Vina when he stated that the survey would give him as City Manager valuable information. Really? He should be mortified at how this survey is being used.
ReplyDeleteGaspar has almost always voted with the council majority, which is the four on the mailer. But she has been showing signs that she may have to deal with a new council majority.
True North's office (if you call it that) is right next to Gaspars! Hmmm...
ReplyDelete“There are no coincidences in politics”
ReplyDeleteBunch of bastards these 4! They have no shame, no scruples, no integrity.
ReplyDeleteI can smell a recall if Stocks and Muir are elected.
How would a recall work if the voters are stupid enough to put them into office in the first place? You would have to collect the signatures of the same target demograhic to pull that one off. I am amazed that Kranz didn't expose the $tock$ legacy of corruption and special interest alliances - as only the more informed citizens are aware of what's been going on, and I fear that is a minority. You can play "nice" and lose -there is no particular honor in that. And these facts would be real; not the contrived slander that the $tock$/Muir/
ReplyDeleteForrester camps have slimed up.
The good thing, I think, is that much of this will hopefully begin to correct itself Tuesday evening and everyone here can be proud to have done something to have made it happen.
ReplyDeletePlease leave mrs gaspar family out of this. Her family is a great family, her husband paul is a hard working man. They both love their kids. But nobody should attack her family
ReplyDeleteNo one attacked her family, asking her to be a full time mother is NOT attacking her family.
DeleteI feel Kristin Gaspar will be much better with Stocks off of Council. Yes, it is inappropriate to suggest that someone cannot be a good mom and also serve on Council because she's a woman, while a father would not be attacked in that manner.
DeleteKristin Gaspar was the ONLY ONE to ask some good questions last July, at the Community Center, when Council unanimously voted to unfund the Open Space and Acquisition Fund, funding for chronic flooding in Leucadia and other important earmarked accounts, which were committed funds in our so-called "reserves." When she brought up her objections, including the parking gargae structure on the bluff at Moonlight Beach, which is unnecessary, Stocks derided her. She "laughed it off," and ended up going along with "her colleagues," but at LEAST she asked some hard questions . . .
I hope now that it appears Stocks is being DUMPED, that we can work to get a new city attorney. Glenn Sabine is a bigger part of the problem than most people realize. Teresa should be voted in as our next mayor, with Lisa Shaffer as Deputy Mayor.
I am amazed that Kranz didn't expose the $tock$ legacy of corruption and special interest alliances - as only the more informed citizens are aware of what's been going on, and I fear that is a minority
ReplyDeleteAgree, but not just Tony. Why doesn't ANYBODY running do this?
Re: informed citizens being a minority -- understatement of the year. Probably .001% of Encinitas residents are even aware of local issues & Stocks's wrongdoings.
Need another reason to not vote for Stocks/Muir?
ReplyDeleteReason #68:
The UT has a full page add showing the loaded questioned satisfaction survey that Stocks manuvered to have citizens pay for right before the election. He did this also last time he ran.
Stop the stranglehold of the city.
VOTE. NO ON K
VOTE
AND TELL OTHERS TO VOTE.
What will Bonds "pension" be now that his 20 years of service are over??
ReplyDelete2.7% * 20 * current council pay.
DeleteWhat's council pay now, about $18,000? So that would make a $9700 pension (per year -- Muir gets more than that per month!). Plus he may get a separate pension for SDWD because council members are also SDWD board members. Maybe some other boards and commissions too.
Back in the early 1990's Bond was pulling down $40K from serving on every commission and board he could, I'm sure he's sucking down more than $9700.
DeleteSo Muir will be sucking down more with his appointment to the council and possible re-election...that's sickening.
I don't know. More than anyone else in the city's history. He has been on council for 20 years but I am not sure how much service the city got.
ReplyDeleteThey sure got a lot of rambling...I don't know who rambled more Dalblabber or Bond?
ReplyDeleteMan, those two should be locked in a room together and see which one can outlast the other.
Stocks karma will catch up.... he'll have to live with his actions and alliance to his little bitch Andreen for years to come. Once a scum always a scum!
What is it with a newly incorporated city? The city officials are incompetent, hicks or crooks - or all three. Bond was senile from the start, Stocks a crook, and the rest various assortments. Gaspar got in by dressing as Wonder Woman and she is clueless. Shaffer should be able to tear her apart, as it is like comparing a computer to a abacus. Gaspar will have to recuse herself from the rest of her term, as she is an idiot. Muir will be in charge of take-out. Stocks is probably stealing all the city office supplies as we speak, before he is ridden out on a rail. Good riddance!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that for being such an environmentally friendly/sensitive city and having many residents who support the "Green" movement and live its lifestyle, that Green Party Presidential Candidate Jill Stein received so few votes--in fact in most precints less than Libertarian Gary Johnson. One would think that a Green Party candidate in progressive areas such as coastal Encinitas and Solana Beach, with a plastic bag ban, would garner hundreds if not thousands of votes. It's odd that for seeing so many pro environmental messages on t-shirts, cars, storefronts, etc throughout Leucadia, Cardiff, Solana Beach and reading about how many in the environmental movement are disappointed that Obama hasn't been more progressive on the environment, climate change, carbon taxes, etc, that voters along the coat didn't follow through and vote for the Green Party Candidate for President in large numbers. Could it be that most residents are flaky/phony in their support of the green movement and do it mainly for business reasons and to be popular/cool?
