4/27/16 City Council meeting open thread

The current city council has continued prior councils' practice of not providing written summary minutes of council discussion, but only "action minutes" which state the outcomes. Encinitas Undercover will provide a forum for observers to record what occurs at each council meeting.

Please use the comments to record your observations.

  2. the homeless in Encinitas, are not encinitas homeless - just homeless.

I don't want the City funding the homeless to stay in Encinitas. I will be voting against Tony Kranz and any other person supporting this program that will increase homeless hanging out in Encinitas.

  3. Homeless program -
Councilman Kranz welcomes the homeless from other cities. He has no worries about this program bringing in more homeless. He saw the homeless in another city and Encinitas doesn't come close to that. Doesn't he understand that other cities have also welcomed the homeless and now find they have a major problem. It may take 6 months, but there will be an increase in homeless in residential neighborhoods.
Vote these dumb ass councilmembers out.

    1. Tony Kranz lives for free with his wife's parents in Leucadia. He has never really earned a living in his life and the only reason that he is on the city council is because his handlers at Leichtag like it that way...did you notice the harris tweed blazer he sports instead his old t-shirt look. This deadbeat has come a long way but is in office for all the wrong reasons but hey who wouldn't consider an $8,000 to Israel 'on the house.' I hear they have nice beaches...that they occasionally shell!

  4. We could get five homeless off the street by each one of the council members housing a homeless person in their own home. If they are not inclined to do that, then their words and actions mean nothing.

  5. Carlsbad and Oceanside want nothing to do with the program. Encinitas is the guinea pig. Really, Encinitas residents and neighborhoods are the areas that will take the blunt of it. Gee, Blakespear, Gaspar, Shaffer, Kranz, and Muir will say we didn't know more homeless would come.
We could get at least 25 homeless off the street with 5 homeless in each council members home. Add group homes that will find a goldmine in renting out houses for this homeless program. Churches want to get involved. Perhaps turning their rectories into dormitories. Then there are the food lines.

  6. Good Gawd already....Shaffer needs to learn how to get her point across in a more concise way. She would drive me batty if I had to listen to her every day. Someone needs to get out the duct tape.

  7. The homeless sleep all day long at cottonwood creek park. Several, all day long. We are already providing for the homeless. Feed them and more will come.

  9. Feed them and provide for them and they will come.

Look at Oside and SF..... Dumbass City of Encinitas City Council. Vote out all of them and let each of them take on two homeless people into their own home. Actions speak louder than words - Dumbasses.

Your actions will hurt our City. Time for you all to go!!!

  10. Why don't you just take all the tax money and sustitize rent and booze for all these problem people.

why not let the churches and other none profits address the issue? This is not, and should not be a small City issue. I am voting against all you losers who support ruining our beach town.

    2. The misspelling and crappy grammar indicates one person repeatedly posting.

  12. I think we have just opened up a pandora's box with this homeless issue. If we don't have many here now, just wait and they will start flooding in. Who wouldn't want to live in Encinitas?

  13. This City Council is absolutely clueless about establishing priorities.

  14. One person- right. When you focus on perfect grammar on a blog, you are one of the programmed problems. You are definitely not a thinker with anything new to offer.

  15. I agree with 4:31pm. First spock week, then PV, then welcoming committee for immigrants, now lets house all the homeless.

Please can you focus on City specific high priorities. When you finish them, you can then dabble is the other stuff.

  16. The council should make PV into a homeless shelter instead of some artsy fartsy place.
