Leichtag has long planned to get around "agricultural in perpetuity" zoning

This is making the rounds in the fight over the Leichtag Foundation's plan to get zoning changes to allow a parking lot for homeless families.

In 2018, the Urban Land Institute prepared a report for Leichtag on Leichtag's history and future development opportunities:
In 1994, the Ecke’s got approval to develop their 950-acre poinsettia ranch into shopping centers and housing developments. The City carved out the 67.5 acres to remain agricultural.

The Leichtag Foundation purchased the property in 2012, known today at Leichtag Commons.
In 2014, Leichtag got the city council to change the definition of agricultural zoning to allow non-agricultural office buildings. And according to the report, that's only the beginning.
• The city of Encinitas is not compliant with the state mandated housing element. The Foundation is in a unique position to work with the city of Encinitas to address local housing affordability on a portion of the Coastal Roots property.

• The TAP recommends preserving a portion of the property for agriculture, food production and the greenhouse program. The site has an agricultural legacy. The Foundation can establish a farmer apprentice program, which offers a new opportunity to deliver the mission. The greenhouse program can become a center for innovation in food production and research.

• Finally, the TAP recommends the expansion of the Hive to become a more public and high profile programmatic element. It can grow to include a retreat or conference center, expansion of the non-profit hub, and an educational / cultural destination linked to the mission.
I guess we should have seen this coming. Founder Lee Leichtag's granddaughter, Heather Greene:
My grandfather always had the attitude of, "if you can't get in through the front door, you go around and you go in the back door."

  1. BINGO! The real motive has now been exposed - rezoning by a phony charity approach. This should kill the parking lot proposal - it is a contrived farce! And the City Council is part of the scheme.

  2. None Profit/Not for Profit...the biggest scam under the sun.
It's used in many ways to profit. Change the name to:
    Leach-tag.
    To quote Dr. Michael Savage
"watch out for do gooders, because they'll do you good"

    1. HAHAHA. You are quoting Michael Savage. The same guy that said nearly early every child with autism is “a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out." Wow, I didn't think people this dumb lived in Encinitas.

    2. 2:53...for your information Savage is brilliant. Yes a tad bit odd at times but brilliant. If you don't get the mans humor, you do not have the ability to understand. You probably think Larry David isn't funny either.
I suspect you, are a do gooder.

  3. Better watch out, if you make a play on the Leichtag name, like Roachtag or Leach-tag, the anti-semitism squad will be knocking at your door. They are playing that card now to combat all the residents' questions that they don't have any answers for.

  4. They and the local media have been telling "A" story.

The local media, the council, mayor and the landowners will only tell "A" story to fit their virtue signaling narrative.

EU comes up with another piece of the puzzle (thank you EU) that tells "THE" story.

    Don"t fall for the BS.

  5. The nerve of these fucking charities. Spending their time and money trying to help the community with parking lots and agriculture rooted affordable housing.

I know when I bought my house near Saxony it was understood that only my neighborhood of million+ dollar homes built on previously agricultural land was allowed. These bullshit proposals may help a bunch of other people but how does any of this help me?

    2. Hey sewer fingers, charities use OTHER PEOPLES MONEY and get paid for their time with other peoples money.
Do you talk like that around your mother?
      Have some manners.

  6. How does any of this help you? Sounds like a pretty selfish view if you ask me.

    1. Yes it is selfish of a "charity" org that provides serious personal profit that makes the organizers millionaires, when that money could be going to house people in need.

    2. 3:40 It reminds me of the most selfish people of all, American Farmers. They are bloodsuckers. Farm subsidies in 2019 jumped to their highest level in 14 years, most paid out without any action by Congress.

  8. So let’s see Tony Kranz gets a paid trip to Israel and Peachtag (hows that name?) gets free office space. Peachy.

    1. over on EV you can read kranz kranzsplaining how his trip to Israel was not a "gift," but instead "educational" (quotes his).

sorry TK, no one's buying what you're selling. you had two right choices: 1) pay for the trip yourself, or 2) recuse yourself from voting on the Leichtag upzone.

anything else is a gift - not a "gift."

    3. Instead of Peach tag try Leechtag as Leach tag truly is a parasite buying the equity property as a non-profit ear and then sending Kranz to Israel to help them boost their office space build-out by 40%. Let's don't mention them creating traffic coming around their grade a ocean view property. Leach tag and Farley are professional bilkers and they will Bilk all of us.

  9. What the fuck happened to this blog? I wonder if it's the work of Blanco Nightmare?

    ReplyDelete
  10. 8;13 - exacto!
Blanco deployed a cunning plan to make fortunate white trash in Encinitas behave like hateful, bitter, stupid, racist gomers. Blanco's zombie is that toothless "when I'm mayor" dolt that posts on this topic. He eats soup with a fork....

  11. When I am mayor, I will zero in on the America hating leftists in our community of Encinitas. I will call them out on their hate of the Republic. Their hoax and dreams of man made global warming, no new natural gas services and bikes lanes replacing transportation lanes built for internal combustion vehicles.

And most of all, make it a requirement for all city employees to view, in full, the movie Nacho Libre so that they can get an idea of what the left wants to do to California. They have already broken Federal law but to the left, it doesn't matter.
As your mayor, you will be provided the facts and not be confused by the deceit and fiction.

  12. 10:30 AM Weren't you all ready elected President?

  13. When elected mayor, I will proclaim Encinitas a Sanctuary 2nd Amendment city.
So that will be a Sanctuary 2nd Amendment city within a sanctuary (for illegal aliens) state of the America hating California government. Or, in other words, something else the America hating leftists can weep about. What is it with the left? Never happy and always wanting to change things...yet they never leave.
Beware the non for profit, they always profit. Why do you think the word "profit is placed behind non". To fool stupid people

    1. Then you can start a voter caging squad. Perhaps you can order some white nationalist group, you know, the real Americans to monitor the voting booths. I think the saddest day of the year for people like you is the anniversary of the day Jim Nabors came out of the closet.

    2. So you hate white people that are proud to be Americans??
People that believe in their Nation?
This is exactly what I have written about. The left, never happy, no humor and wake up everyday angry about anything.
Yet, they never leave. They simply want others be like them, a mess. No wonder what ever the left does fails.
      Let the gawds bless America

  14. Make every car in the homeless lot qualify as one unit in the State's mandated housing requirement. When there is a turnover of vehicles in the lot, the new cars will be added as a new unit! Then it would then contribute something significant to the city.

    1. Ohhh my gawd, what a great idea.
Dang it, when I'm mayor I want you as my idea person, brilliant. Heck, lets park a bus on the lot and call it a multi family unit. The bigger the bus, the more units.

    2. It's all in the interpretation! That's how the "law" works!

  15. Reports that a recent residential fire, that killed the homeowner, was started by a homeless person. Neighbors are reporting more car break-ins also; there may be no corrolation between incidents tho.
It definitely will bear upon Leichtag's proposal, as it may attract individuals without cars to work the periphery of the proposed site for handouts. Unintended consequences.

    1. 8:30 - really? Methinks you are a despicable person using this tradgedy in a totally lame effort to influence opinion relating to the 25 parking spots for homeless, with a fully registered, plated and emission compliant vehicle, Leightag lot person. What a transparent and evil thing to do. The homeless, hobo trail in Encinitas runs along the 101, not along Saxony. You're whining and lying about the 25 parking spots on Saxony when the 101 and west corridor has been receiving/ allowing camping by transients forever. Here, on Vulcan, the 101 and west of the 101, there have always been - and continue to be - campers. And my experience - over the past decade - is that they are not breaking into cars, threatening people, or starting fires. The cruelty of tone by you and other anti-safe-parking people is appalling. Shame on you heartless cretins. When homeless people sleep in the scrubs around here, they are left in peace.

    2. 7:39 PM Time will tell. Meanwhile, go out an administer to the shrub people to show your compassion.

  17. And why hasn't anyone mentioned Leechtag sending shill Tony Kranz on a $10,000 propaganda trio to Israel to vote for this up zoning of office space on deeded farm land? Check his 990 form out at city hall for 2017, it's all in there. Don't let these "non-profiteers" push you around as they are basically thugs with suits and ties or in former ADL (hate group) director Jim Farley's case, khakis and a button down.

  18. Thanks 9:10. You don't need to have or question "reliable sources," you can simply read the mayor calling it a done deal in her December newsletter and meet with the other council members and watch them stare then tell you why it needs to happen.

No crystal ball or source quotes, just SOP on the dais. Phony T does not get a pass on this as he changed his tune far too late to be believed.
