  8. Party politics…. again? Let’s worry about the potholes and public safety. Keep it local!

  9. Sheila Cameron made excellent comments directed at Luke Shaffer. For those of us who worked on Prop A, it was insulting when he asked those applying for the D4 position to "change" Prop A. Also, so was correct that it was insulting when he said that the older citizens had "no skin in the game." Everyone of all ages has skin in the game.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sheila misquoted Luke, that is not an accurate quote, and Sheila and you know that. And Sheila was also wrong, NO applicant said they would not be open to changing Prop A.

      Delete
  10. Luke’s skin in the game? More like his wife and parents’ skin. That guy’s a lacrosse coach!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I can’t fucking believe Bruce is going to follow the prior council’s practice of burying public comment at turns of the meetings! This isn’t the change we voted for.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Skin in the game is a common term. Come on people harden a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Rachel Graves, no longer a resident of Encinitas, continues to make comments saying “our neighborhoods” and “our council”. Rachel, go address your own city council in CARLSBAD

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Her comments were researched and deserved to be shared. It doesn't matter that after growing up in Encinitas and owning property here that she current address is in Carlsbad. Rachel has as least as much "skin in the game" as developers who Marco represents.

    2. She’s annoying and she shares misinformation constantly

      Delete
    3. Rachel needs to get a life

    4. 7:13 sounds like a developer or someone who makes money from development.

      Delete
    5. 713 almost everyone connected to the last Mayor made something from the developers. Was is Allison who made money from Lemar?

    6. Untreated mental illness is always sad to see.

      Delete
    7. Does Rachel know how to read, or she just that dumb?

      Delete
    8. Amanda/Mali continue to be obsessed with where Rachel and her honorable military husband lay their heads at night. Gross.
It’s obvious why they are so obsessed considering Rachel has not one, not two, but FOUR wins we are watching tonight. 🐐

Unfortunately, these guys were handed the biggest mess in history, but nonetheless, they won, she won, we won!

      Delete
    9. Total fraud. Sham marriage included. While Rachel lives in Carlsbad, her "husband" lives in Hawaii.

      Delete
    10. If there wasn’t the Sheila’s, the Rachel’s, the Susan’s and the Scott’s, more crap would have gone unnoticed until it was too late to do anything about it.

So if they want to spend their free time at city meetings defending our city, I think their owed a debt of gratitude.

    11. Rachel is 💪👏👏👊❤️

    12. Aw thanks mom. You always stand up for me. Without all of your enabling since middle school, I wouldn't have grown up to be the toxic complainer I've become today.

      Delete
    13. You will never get Mali, Marco and the Blakespear crowd to EVER respect a military serviceperson, a soldier's sacrifice, or a military family lifestyle that allows civilians to enjoy their freedoms. Taking care of aging parents is not easy for anyone, and especially hard for a military spouse who has to travel overseas to do so.

  15. When MAGAs have an opinion on Encinitas it doesn't matter if they live here. It doesn't matter who they're friends with or which politicians they support. If they do live here it doesn't matter for how long or if they rent or own or who paid for it. It doesn't matter if they have children or not. It doesn't matter if they have a job or what that job is. It doesn't matter what skeletons are in their closet. It doesn't matter how many lies they've told or what crimes they've committed. It doesn't matter how mentally ill, how pathetic they are or if they're just terrible people. All that matters is they shit on Democrats.

For everyone else their opinions are immediately invalidated by the MAGAs for one of a hundred criteria that not one of the accusers can live up to.

It would've been set at 6 people but one person needs to hold down the admin responsibilities on EPU that day (not all heroes wear capes) and another one's Subaru is in the shop so they won't be able to drive down to the event with their bike in the back.

While Marco droned on with his well rehearsed, the HDC is the boogeyman speech, the majority of the residents appeared better prepared than the city and the planning commission that approved this impending disaster.

  63. Chevron announced today that it is pulling out of California after approximately 140 years. They will, apparently, close their refineries, which provide about one third of California’s fuel.

The company tried to speak to Gavin Newsome to see if they could find some way to remain viable in the state. He refused to take their calls and texted back instead, saying ‘go ahead, I’m good’.

Chevron is joining everyone else, in Texas.

And, the Titanic steamed ahead, as fast as it could, toward the iceberg.

Let’s take back our state and get rid of the crazy Progressive Liberals. Vote NO on Blakespear, Horvath, Bonita, Remer, etc.

  65. I've spent more than 60 years following local politics. Never have I witnessed newly elected officials shed supporters with the speed and scale of what's happening right now with Luke and Jim. Every meeting has been a circus and Bruce is clearly the only adult in the room. This isn't what residents thought they were voting for. Bruce summed it up perfectly when he told them "I've been doing this for over 20 years and you guys don't know what you're doing and that worries me."

    ReplyDelete

    1. Sad to say, can't argue with that.

    2. Don't pretend that they didn't have the 2-2 tie vote orchestrated before the meeting even started. Bruce certainly has been around long enough to know how these things work. Put on a show for the council meeting attendees, blame everything on the previous council--- and then vote as you've been instructed. Marco Gonzales told them exactly how it is, and after Bruce cranked his organ and his trained monkeys did their little dances-- the appeals failed as planned.

    4. That's because voters thought they were electing LukeJim. Who Encinitas really elected was non resident Crazy Rachel. Many viewers of recent meetings have now realized the talking points and attitude from LukeJim is all MAGA Rachel. She brought the same toxic, ill informed stupidity she displays on social media to the council chambers. It was laid bare for all to see last night. Rachel was seen on camera all night acting like a stage mom directing LukeJim. Not only is she prepping them before meetings, she was recorded feeding them lines, telling them how to vote, how to speak and more. We can expect more of the same from Marco San Antonio as Rachel was behind his appointment as well.

MMW it's all going to come out eventually and these scandals are going to make the awful Blakespear years look like the good old days.

  66. You're ignoring the fact that the massive upzone of QGD project was approved with 2 key individuals ( 1 on council and 1 the chair if the Planning commission) that quite literally were working for the Baldwin company. The state has b9xed in the city of Encinitas at every point into a corner not by being a transparent entity but by fraud, grift, and one party rule l. The same people that spent $24B on solving the homeless crisis caused by gayvin Newsom yet increased homeless by 40% while lining the pockets of douche canoes.

Marco is one of them and is a fraudulent corrupt grifting scumbag who needs to be eradicated in a workmanship like fashion.

  67. Developer always have a story of altruistic intent of housing those who otherwise couldn't afford to live in Encinitas. In practice, they build as many luxury, market rate units as possible and keep or sell off those scarce affordable units that often end up occupied by friends, relatives, or connections. In other words, they skim off the profit for themselves and fight every attempt to make them address the shortage of low and very-low income housing to address our RHNA numbers. They use gangster tactics to say that residents must accept what they offer regardless of safety, traffic, parking concerns. Even when fraud and malfeasance is identified in the project, they say that there is no choice but to accept ineptitude and criminal behavior. Bonta has become the example that Trump is now implementing on a national level.

    1. Builders are a business. They exist to make money. If you expected something else, you’re an idiot.

State housing law has always been a compromise. It harnesses the greed of the builders to get some affordable housing built without having to tax citizens and pay for that housing directly with public money.

None of us could identify it but he's clearly got some kinda disability or condition. Does anyone know what it is and is he alright? 😟

  69. Luke’s “One nation under god, fire is an enemy foreign or domestic” speech was the most garbled, fragmented sentence, nonsense I have ever heard. Stop trying to make some grand flowery speech and talk in plain English. You are as dumb as a burlap sack full of cement, and it’s painful to watch you try to sound eloquent.

    1. Was that the part where Luke said our state government is a domestic enemy and it's time to pickup a rifle to fight them? 🫨

      Delete
    2. Yup. He literally used the phrase “pick up a rifle,” to describe how he plans to stop builders remedy after his hack bullshit posing loses in court.

This guy is a POS domestic terrorist in waiting.

  70. OMG the wheels are coming off!!!

Another DISASTER of a council meeting followed by a flurry of damage control sessions by team LukeJim and their handlers.

Even hardcore Hatespear voters are beginning to wonder aloud if they've made a TERRIBLE MISTAKE.

The more comfortable LukeJim gets up there, the more their true personalities and beliefs are revealed, the more obvious it is how painfully stupid and twisted they are.

Encinitas voters are realizing they were duped and these two jokers DON'T represent that values of Encinitas.

We were so desperate to stop the Blakespear overdevelopment we ignored all the warning signs of what was coming!

Councilman Luke Shaffer makes motion for R80 builders remedy construction across all of Encinitas. Designs motion to assure a loss in court.

  72. I have no idea what Joy Lyndes was up to this morning. However I can tell you the first thing she should've done was contact Bruce and the City Attorney to initiate a censure of Jim for his defamatory remarks last night. If Jim doesn't apologize from the dais on record, Joy should pursue civil action.

  73. Actually, it's making all realize what went down starting in 2017.

Here's what's coming, more rain and some CERF.

  75. Everybody remember during the campaign when Bruce was saying our hands are tied and that all he could do if elected was to approve projects under protest with notes attached saying he didn’t feel good about approving it?

    Me neither.

    1. He assuredly had that line prepared before he ever sat down in his chair last night, but no— that’s not anything like the 4 hero’s promised us. Not even Rachel Glad Hands Graves and her sign language communication directives could salvage a coherent response. At one time Bruce was grasping at straws with the city attorney- “What if we just do nothing? Can we just adjourn?” Problem solvers extraordinaire this new council. Big on promises, which were easy to make. Turns out the job is hard and this bunch is lacking gravitas.

    2. Bruce never expected to be in the majority. It’s far easier to be a bomb thrower from the back bench. He’s backed himself into a corner, and now he’s saying exactly the same thing the previous council were saying: our hands are tied, the only thing that can be done is changing state law.

It’s what the adults have been saying all along. But the dumb people who think like Luke won’t hear it.

  76. I love that we have a flawed, citizen run council, with varied opinions and passions. Bruce is a masterful council manager and it’s obvious Luke and Jim, though new to their seats, feel passionately about protecting citizens and doing what’s right to keep neighborhoods safe. I commend new council member Marco San Antonio for keeping quiet, observing and remaining humble.

The last council, Joy included, didn’t have to do any of the work, they knew how they would vote ahead of time, every time. Did we all get so accustomed to so little discussion that we no longer expect any from city leadership? Blakespear bullied and cowed everyone in her way in her single minded obsession to accelerate her career. Tony was just too lazy and no doubt sold us out many years ago.

This is democracy at work. It’s ugly, emotional, it questions, it pushes back and discusses important issues with the seriousness they require. It’s not perfect and doesn’t try to be.

City staff was so flat footed last night. How dare council members ask questions they should have the answers to.

I’ll take this flawed council over Blakespear and Kranz any day. This housing fiasco is on them and Bruce will get the blame.

What an uninformed, ungrateful group of people the finger pointers are. Where were you when all this started in 2018?

    2. Cool story. You should tell it to the dozens of voters who still believe Luke and Jim aren't an unmitigated disaster.

This isn't showing how the sausage gets made. This is showing how the sausage get made when only one person in the room knows how to make sausage, has ever eaten a sausage, knows what meat is or where meat comes from. The rest of the "cooks" are schizos with one hand caught in the grinder, quickly turning the crank with their other hand while yelling at imaginary monsters that exist only in their heads.

The conclusions of these meetings are precisely the same as the old council. 4 meetings, 4 mega projects approved BEACAUSE IT'S THE LAW. Only now it's with added theatrics and hysterics making the entire city look like fools.

    1. Yup.

Luke is a dummy who can’t finish a sentence, can’t even pretend to follow the law even with Bruce coaching him, and can’t understand where the populist noise stops and actual real damage to the city begins.

He’s in way over his head.

And talking about shooting construction workers is totally normal.

    2. With the exception of the city council, Encinitas Democrats won in a landslide. Most of them won by margins far beyond the winning council candidates. Encinitas voted 2:1 Harris over Trump including the most red district of D4. The anti woke, anti DEI, anti equity, anti mask, anti vax, anti trans, anti everything clowns yapping all day on social media didn't get a mandate for their far right wing views. The new council was voted in for one reason and one reason only. The promise of stopping over development. So far the new council has failed miserably at that task.

The demographics haven't really changed. What's changed is crazy people now have a platform from which to spread their insanity and lies. Trump and his brand of populism has normalized ignorance, blatant deception and hypocrisy to a degree never before seen in this city or country.

  80. Funny story.

Remember all the shithole losers crying about a conspiracy where they were the victims of private companies with terms of service robbing them of their first amendment rights to free speech, even though the first amendment only restrains government, and not private companies?

    Yeah.

Well, I wonder how those champions of free speech feel about the government physically restraining a reporter from doing his job for the crime of using the words “Gulf of Mexico.”

    Shithole losers.
