  1. What city employee will Jim insult tonight?

What word salad with Luke be shakin' up?

How many sentences will Marco start and then interrupt himself with a million ums and uhs and filler sounds?

    1. Jim has been absolutely amazing.

So thankful he is a council member.

I wish Jim was Mayor and we would have a much better city manager and staff.

We can only dream, suggest Jim makes the jump, and vote and fund his campaign accordingly during the election elections.

Bruce lost it as shown in his support for the drug addicts magnet the CRC

Thank you, Jim. It shows how great things can be when people are not asleep at the wheel and actually listen to constituents.

Why did Luke, Jim, and Marco cross the road?

      Because Rachel told them to.

      Funny cuz it's true.

  3. Jims constant uhm's and ah's would require for him to listen to himself to correct. We only wish he would listen to himself and hear what we have to hear every time he speaks on the dais.

To be clear I would have been happy to vote for him if he was in my district.

Jim, please work on your public speaking. We need you to be part of the solution and not part of the problem.

There has been too much cat herding this year. Be a team member for a change.

  4. How many people have died from all of the DUIs and no police enforcement on our streets since the last City Council meeting?

It seems like we have a DUI death, and the city won every council meeting. WTF?!
All the cops spend their time, mopping up the HDI and alcohol saturation issues in our downtown areas.

When is the last time you ever saw a cop in downtown Leucadia where all the shit show is?

The cops would have massive easy pickings on Sunday afternoon with all the straight pipe racing down HWY101. But no cops anywhere, ever.

    1. There's no S#$% show in Leucadia, lots of people going out to eat. And BTW, they have several sherrif cars assigned during the day, I see them circling late morning/afternoon on a Sunday. The problem is around 7pm at night when they all show up...

We know the bar owners are making killing by pumping out the alcohol and draining all the tourist’s wallets.

What the fuck is going on in the city and where are the cops?

  9. What is this "state of emergency" business regarding specifically a red light runner? Seriously what can any council do to fix this behavior?

On the other hand, the nearly 3 dozen Cardiff accidents, some of which sent cyclists to the hospital, demonized cyclists and no "state of emergency" declared to fix the danger that Blakespear's husband Jeremy created with his road "improvements."

Teresa Beauchamp, Brian and Suzanne Stone, Amanda Zenick, Mali Shook: WHERE WERE AND ARE YOU regarding Jeremy's road designs that have and continue to endanger cyclists and peds alike? Serious question, we'll wait.

You know, so they don't get us in trouble like Blakespear did when she told the media that Roberta Walker's accident was due to a "known issue." This "known issue" (sharrows) were championed by Walker, who was suddenly "confused." That admission of guilt cost we the taxpayers $11M. Learn your history, do better.

  13. From the National Motorists Association, things that can be implemented immediately (no thanks to Beauchamp3M who are politicizing the pants off this tragedy):

    https://ww2.motorists.org/blog/5-proven-ways-to-stop-red-light-running/#google_vignette.

    1) Increase the yellow-light time
This is an easy way to reduce red-light violations. It has been effective from Virginia to California in preventing accidents and saving lives.

A study by researchers at the Texas Transportation Institute illustrates the positive safety impact of even a modestly longer yellow light.
The Virginia Department of Transportation noted a significant decrease in violations at an intersection in Fairfax County when the yellow light was lengthened by 1.5 seconds.
Critics of longer yellow lights claim there is no long-term benefit because the public will grow accustomed to the longer lights, but research shows this is not the case.

    2) Add an all-red clearance interval
A yellow light allows drivers who cannot safely stop to pass through the intersection before the light turns red. Occasionally, even safe and attentive drivers may misjudge the time it takes to make it completely through an intersection.

Adding an all-red clearance interval (a brief period where the lights in all directions are red) after the yellow-light phase reduces unnecessary accidents. AAA of Michigan and the city of Detroit partnered to make intersections safer and they found an all-red clearance interval to be effective.

    3) Make traffic lights more visible
There are a number of reasons motorists might have difficulty seeing traffic lights at intersections. Making traffic lights more visible decreases red-light violations and intersection accidents. Here are three simple things that can be done to help all motorists see traffic lights better:

Make the lights bigger. With AAA of Michigan’s help, Detroit installed several new lights that were 50 percent larger. This small change helped to decrease both accidents and injuries at problem intersections.
Add metal backers to lights. This is especially important for lights that face either east or west and can be easily affected by glare from the sun during certain parts of the day.
Remove any other obstructions. If an intersection has above average red-light violations or accidents, transportation officials should make sure that no signs, trees, transit stops, or buildings obstruct motorists’ view of the traffic lights.

    4) Improve intersections for motorists
Anything about an intersection that confuses or frustrates motorists increases red-light violations. Communities can do all of the following to make intersections safer:

Repaint lane markings at intersections, especially turn lane markings. This alone had a major impact in the Detroit trial project mentioned above.
Improve signage. Signs should clearly indicate that a signal is ahead and which lane(s), if any, are for turns only.
Add traffic lights at certain intersections, especially those that rely on only one light suspended in the air to direct all traffic.
Build new turn lanes, especially on roads where development has added a significant amount of new traffic volume.
Provide advance warning lights at high-speed intersections to notify motorists of pending light changes.

    5) Retime Traffic Signals
Engineers can adjust the timing of traffic lights to reduce the number of red lights a driver encounters. This process of signal optimization reduces congestion, travel time, gas consumption, and driver frustration. It also helps to reduce red-light violations.

An informational report from the Institute for Transportation Engineers concluded that the process has a benefit to cost ratio of 40:1. Another study in Oakland County, Michigan showed that retiming the traffic signals had a benefit-cost ratio of 175:1 and 55:1 respectively for each of the two phases of the project.

  16. Y'all are right. It's absolutely disgusting how people sue anytime anything bad happens. Blaming the city and suing because your child dies in an accident is a pure money grab. Some people treat lawsuits like a hobby. Something bad happens? Sue everybody in sight. Especially heinous behavior when it's your child that actually caused the accident.

Case in point: Rachel's brother decided to cross the center line on Rancho Santa Fe Road and plow head-on into another car, which then slams into yet another. Nobody knows if he was drunk or distracted but either way, obviously it's the city's fault. Sadly young Graves died which is why his parents sued the city, sued the driver he maimed and sued the other driver too. Spoiler alert! They lost them all.

But did they blame their son? Of course not. They blamed literally everyone else, but especially immigrants, like the guy unlucky enough to be driving the car their kid demolished. That disaster basically became Rachel's origin story, setting the stage for her future as the lawsuit happy, MAGA flavored wacko we see today.

    10. Rachel herself has posted about her brother's death in comments, but changes the story to suit her needs. In one online argument, she claimed HE was hit by a drunk illegal alien driver. You don't get to have it both ways, you can't use a tragedy as a prop for you MAGA argument and twist the truth and then also cry foul when someone simply shares the truth of an event.

    11. I don't care about Rachel. I DO care that certain members of the city council can't seem to do anything without her. Why is she texting statements for them? Why is she accompanying Jim to the Carlsbad City Council meeting?

      Delete
    12. Well, Marco San Antonio has made a few comments about Rachel to citizens that indicate he's really annoyed with the feeling she's so in his business...he just wants to do his job and didn't realize what he signed up for in regards to Rachel's hovering and over involvement.

      Delete
    13. Somebody knows her well. Tweaked since high school and failed at everything she's attempted in life since then. Isn't she a veterinarian? Yes, but not one who works-- she sued her boss after he had to let her go because she quit coming to work. Oh, but now she's disabled. Didn't stop her from going into business and suing her business partner too. The suit is recorded. It doesn't matter if you are friend or foe-- her and her lawyer husband will come after you soon or late. And that guy thought he could be a Senator.

      Delete
    14. It's very telling when someone is so prominently focused upon whether she shows up or not. Like any narcissist would, she takes this as a badge of honor, like it means she's effective. She's effectively taking all of the oxygen from four members of council, including the mayor. Her toxicity has become Encinitas City Council's toxicity. If only she would take them all to Carlsbad where she lives and belongs, like she did with Jim O'Hara. As for Luke and Marco SA, if they didn't have Rachel's brain, they'd have none at all. Embrace her at your own risk-- she will turn on you.

    16. Frankly, as someone who voted for Jim, I wish he would distance himself from her. It's a distraction and I think she went off the rails the week she ranted about Encinitas BikeWalk. Jim is alienating some people who voted for him because we want local control, but we also support groups like BikeWalk. It's almost like Jim and Luke think all their supporters must think exactly like them and Rachel, but that's so rigid. We care about other things too, and I can't say right now if I would vote for Jim again.

      Delete
    17. You think Jim's different? 🤣 He's not some random guy under their influence. HE'S ONE OF THEM AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN. He barely tries to hide it. It's why they selected him and why they did everything they could to get him elected. Luke and Jim are the biggest example of voters remorse I've witnessed since incorporation.

An elderly man in his 80’s ran over a family member and killed him in their driveway so again it’s the city’s fault? None of these accidents would have been prevented by the nut job that keeps pissing stones about the traffic circles.

    3. That intersection is a known hazard and has known to be a high accident rate location.

It was known that children crossed there frequently and in a very vulnerable condition.

The city is going to lose over 20 million on this one alone.

The roads need to be made safer.

We support this amazing family and Emery’s Crossing. The future art piece or statue in the middle of the roundabout will be an awesome gateway entry from our east Encinitas location locations to the heart of the city. Thank you, family for trying to make our street safer for the rest of the families so they don’t experience something as horrific as what you are living though.

This council offers a bunch of hot air with the exception of Jim and the developer whore from Arizona. We know the developer who does anything for developer profits, and spread spreads her legs often.

When is the City going to act to make the city street safe safer?

Supposedly there was two cop positions opened in this year‘s budget yet I still see zero enforcement on our streets.

When is the status report showing the current use at the second senior center at Pacific view coming back to city Council? This report needs to show what the total expenditure was what the ongoing operations and maintenance costs are and the current use and projected use. The second senior center is totally a low use very expensive waste of city money that could be used for police enforcement.

The city council needs to get it shit in order and hire a real city manager.

  24. Not one mention of the poor soul that lost their life from the drunk who is partying in downtown Encinitas all night getting blasted out of his mind from the over serving bars.

Reports are indicating he was drinking massively, smoking all the weed he got from the Leucadia city endorsed drug huts and then on his way back home to Oceanside when he killed an innocent resident.

Where is the outrage? That said, the City paid for and has numerous license plate readers throughout town and could show where this PB/ Encinitas partier was driving in downtown Encinitas before the accident. The sheriffs are not doing their job and is not telling a true story.

The City of Encinitas roads are very dangerous within the city. The City continues promoting heavy bar activity similar to Pacific Beach.. It’s unfortunate that kids that living a block away school or from the beach cannot walk safely to either. And then you wonder why the streets are so damn gridlock. You need basically a tank to roll around Encinitas to keep from getting killed.

I support our families that have lost mothers and children to these hazardous conditions, and I support Emery’s Crossing.

Let’s make it very safe and let’s make the artwork/memorial amazing. ✅

In thinking of Emery, the community is with you and your family, and your death will not be in vain. 💪😥❤️. Positive change will come from the horrific actions in this known hazard and you will make condition safer for the rest of the family living here.

    1. How many monuments do you want the city to build for deaths that were due to reckless drivers? A monument for Brodee on ECR and SFD? A monument for Dr. Worley on Leucadia Blvd? A monument for the 4C’s dad on South 101 at the Cardiff death trap? A monument for the young man that was killed while crossing 101 and Enc Blvd on New Years Eve? A monument for Emily on North 101? The list goes on and on for deaths on the entire stretch of 101. A monument for Emery at the Trader Joe’s intersection is inappropriate, since a traffic circle there would make that extremely busy in a very tight road space more dangerous than what it is now! Better traffic lights, more pedestrian safety measures, cameras everywhere so the coke, meth addicts speed freaks can be arrested. The failure of the city’s $58million dollar staff to complete infrastructure that has been on the books for years, and the biggest failure of the sheriff not policing those known heavy traffic areas have to be addressed. The city has $1.31Billion dollar deficit on their to do project list. This is 113 project that only include projects that are above $100,000 dollars. There were over 300 projects presented to the ITD. The 5 year project list that does not touch the $1.31 Billion project list is $65Million. The small priority list of the $1.31Billion backlog projects cost with some being in different stages of completion and funding is $200-300 Million! That is $200-300 Million that the city does not have to pay for these handful of projects in the priority list! The top priorities of the List A, C, K is to make traffic flow safer with KOI, pedestrian crossings upgrades, the protected intersection where Brodee was killed. The shit in engineering put the lower speed limit sign after the SFD intersection instead of before to slow the speeding cars traveling north on ECR before they reach the SFD intersection! When is Abe , Campbell, Roy going to be fired? They could do more that is cost effective, but they have to find the money and move that option ahead of the 113 CIP current list! The inefficient staff and city manager have to be fired and replaced with staff and a city manager that will make sure these steps are not just put in a pile in nana land to not be seen for 5 years but that they are 100% completed.

    2. In legal terms, a state of emergency is a formal declaration by a government entity (federal, state, or local) that an extraordinary situation exists, posing a significant threat to public safety, health, or welfare. This declaration often results in the temporary suspension of certain normal governmental functions and civil liberties, and the authorization of emergency powers to address the crisis.

      Delete
    3. Why call a state of emergency?

Because a state of emergency is how the city alerts citizens that they need to change their normal behavior and allows the city to quickly create and implement solutions. It's a shame the city council has not done this.

Tony Kranz did it when Brodie Champlain Kingman was struck on an e-bike.

During this state of emergency, the city coordinated with the Sheriff’s North Coastal Station Traffic Division to increase enforcement and sheriff’s deputies were granted the ability to wave first-time violator’s penalties if they agree to take an approved bike safety course (that started on July 28, 2023)

During the state of emergency, they also updated ordinance makes it illegal for a person to ride on a bicycle in any manner not designed for passenger riding.

The local emergency allows the city quicker access to resources necessary for education and enforcement, if needed. Some actions that the city council hopes to accomplish include the rental of 10 messages boards that will be placed in high-visibility areas reminding both riders and drivers to share the road, 300 yard signs urging safety, additional work with schools to educate students on-campus and a bike safety video made in unison with the San Diego Sheriff’s Department that can be played at assemblies and meetings.
