Councilmember Joy Lyndes announced she will not seek reelection this week following the completion of her current term later this year.
Lyndes told The Coast News that the decision is an effort to “push the reset button” amid a period of mixed emotions.
“After having done a lot at City Council, I felt it was time to refocus my time on personal things,” she said.

On Wednesday, the City Council approved plans for two more buildings, one eight stories tall and the other seven stories, that will occupy the final blocks in that master plan. The mixed-use structures with 370 apartments and six live-work condominiums will go up on lots between Mission Avenue and Civic Center Drive, west of the railroad tracks and east of Myers Street.

ReplyDeleteNorth County Transit Disaster (NCTD) will not be running their death trains again this weekend. 😀
Again, Encinitas will experience a much safer and peaceful weekend. 😀❤️
Coastal rail service between San Diego and southern Orange County will be suspended again this weekend, the second time this month, for work including the construction of a 1,400-foot-long wall below a recurring landslide in San Clemente.
Also during the suspension, the latest phase of a decades-old bluff stabilization project will proceed in Del Mar. And a separate project is underway in Carlsbad to replace a 1940’s wooden trestle railroad bridge and add a second set of tracks across the Batiquitos Lagoon.
Coaster, Amtrak and freight trains will not run between San Diego and southern Orange County on Saturday or Sunday.
Wonderful and we can not wait until the crazy wasteful practices at NCTD get day lighted this year.
Not only are they wasting hundreds of millions of dollars which could be put to good use to improve public health,
They are actually harming public health, quality of life, and our Mother earth.

California’s $6-per-gallon gas is not an accident it’s the result of Gavin Newsom’s policies.

At the same time, Newsom openly attacks oil companies, threatens new penalties, and pushes policies designed to eliminate gasoline cars altogether. That hostile environment has driven refineries to shut down, scale back, or leave the state entirely. With fewer refineries and no easy way to import cheaper fuel because of California’s special gas blend, supply shrinks and prices explode.
Newsom then blames “greedy oil companies” for the very shortages his policies created. The reality is simple: California drivers are paying $6 a gallon because state leadership has made it nearly impossible and increasingly unprofitable to produce affordable gasoline here.
Keep voting for politicians like Catherine Blakespear and this is what you'll get, $6+ gas and more taxes. I'd like to know how that helps low income earners, the same one's Blakespear says she's fighting for.
