Back by popular demand

Due to complaints over uncomfortable questions asked about actions at city hall, this site now returns to its original programming: stupid Kook photos.

Sweet sentiment. Cardiff has that effect on people. And these folks sound like they'll be missed too.

Lets see- Weiss was 54 and will likely be 55 in December.

How old is Sad Sac? I bet we hear about his plans to retire shortly, so he doesn't get sh&*t canned and he can say it was his idea.

This whole strategic planning fiasco is all about buying Sad Sac more time until his retirement. The community has been discussing its values and vision over the last 3 years with the General Plan update. If he wants to plan something, bring to council has plan for finishing the general plan and lets see the 7 year financial plan with realistic projections for revenue and expenditures including huge increases in Pension and healthcare costs, and huge increase in Parks costs due to water increases and the huge regional sports park about to go online.

Come on Sad Sac, do your job. Bring Council a plan that is useful and will help the citizens. Not a fluff program that just gets you to your retirement and wastes all the citizens time.

My prediction is within 1.5 years, Sad Sac will be gone and our City will be in the exact position we are in today with a the regional sports park on line, and trying to figure out how to pay for our deteriorating roads and parks, and climbing pension costs.

Gus will be on his retirement pay of over $180,000 per year and sipping mai-tais in Hawaii.

  4. Should the city buy pacific view school and make it a regional sports park complete with 90 foot lights and loud speakers?

  6. I think that the perception of City staff among the public is at its lowest point ever since Gus Vina has taken the helm. I have heard complaints for years, but now they have escalated in their seriousness and their numbers have spread.

Can we afford the staff that we have?

The city spent about $1.5 million recently doing much of the work that gus and the city are doing AGAIN.
Gus was not here when this was done and now is leading the was to do much of the same thing and throw away all the work the community did and being asked to do much od it again.
Look at the city website of the general plan update.
Why are we paying to redo so much and ignore all the input of the community?

    1. "Why are we paying"... Because you pay taxes to keep govt yahoos busy and rich. If you're not happy hit city hall with flaming torches and pitchforks.

  11. I'll give you something to ponder W.c. You mentioned at one point in the Filner debacle that you had no dog in this fight. Well, folks, we all have a dog in this fight. Marco Gonzales, a once respected attorney, at least by me, has managed, with the help of a few others attorneys, get San Diego Mayor Filner out of office without ever going to court. Pretty cool feat, huh? I could care less what what anyone thinks about Filner, but remember Marco is the man behind Desert Rose, and the Hospitality Committee. Be careful out there. It would appear that Marco has changed his tune from an environmental attorney to I am not sure what. Perhaps power, fame and money? Don't know, but you investigators out there may want to find out.

    1. Marcos sister will run for governor in 2018 and name Marco to the Coastal commission where he will have real power. Be ready( to leave the state), be prepared( start packing now).

  13. ArtWalk was cool. Anyone got pix of this event?

  14. Family enjoyed the art walk too. Disappointed the Magic Bus wasn't a double decker, but we didn't let that spoil the good time and good vibe. Thanks to everyone who put on the event.

  15. My family, too, enjoyed LeucadiArt. I understood the the double decker was unavailable because of the 1,000,000th race in Del Mar had all the double deckers reserved.
Is was great seeing all the locals with their families and dogs enjoying themselves and walking the Walk.
A good vibe, good art and good music.
It was as L101 promised, ALL GOOD.
    Thanks.
