A subcommittee tasked with updating Encinitas agriculture rules is no longer in favor of relaxing residential livestock buffers, which would have made it easier to raise chickens or goats without special permitting.See earlier: "Encinitas Goat Buster" Facebook campaign backfires
The subcommittee at its Nov. 12 meeting voiced support for maintaining current city livestock setbacks — the distance chicken coops and goat pens must be kept from neighboring homes.

The chickens have come home to roost for the three nincompoop councilmembers.
ReplyDeleteGreen Acres isn't going to happen?!
DeleteGood. I'm tired of neighbors like this:

This is a town full of idiots....
ReplyDeletena na na. It takes one to know one and we do have our share.
ReplyDeleteIf on the other hand, you are referring to residents having a say about our council establishing their own set of regs without public input as we have and continue to see them do, then we need all of them we can muster, in order to hold those responsible for ignoring the welfare of this community's character and kowtowing to every developer who wants to get around our current zoning whenever they please.
The citizenry that speaks up are our local heroes. They bring out info that was intended to remain hidden from what the city hopes is a gullible public to achieve their goals of turning this community into an urban setting that does not belong here.
If you want this type of city sponsored urbanization here, you may need to move elsewhere.
We will fight this every way we can. The truth is out there and it is not coming from council or planning or staff. They have been caught repeatedly attempting to get around this community's wishes to preserve what we all came here for in the first place.
Follow the money. An intensive audit, if ever allowed, would speak volumes. In the meantime, these selfless citizens are all we have to defend this community.
So, to be clear, you are stating that the public, actually wants to raise 25 chickens, 4 goats and 2 bee hives in the backyards of Village Park?
ReplyDeleteAnd if yes, your documented proof is what?
And, what exactly will you fight anyway you can?
And just how much raw animal waste rolling down the gutters of Wandering Road is too much for you?
I like turtles.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to EU, Jonathan!

I hear they're raising weasels at city hall.
ReplyDeleteThe Rotary Club has an infestation...
DeleteComment of the month on the blog.
DeleteWhat about earthworms? Am I allowed to raise earth worms in my back yard without govt interference??
ReplyDeleteI think earthworms, snails, caterpillars, ants, and cockroaches are exempt.
ReplyDeleteForget the urban farming ordinance unless you can provide beer and wine for your farm to table dinners.
ReplyDeleteOn the Planning Commission agenda for Thursday are 5 agenda items to approve expanding alcohol service at the bier garden, or new alcohol licenses for other businesses.
The Union is trying to expand into an outdoor patio area. The patrons can woop it up and holler to their heart's content. Ironically, a religious temple is next door, which emphasizes silent contemplation/meditation. Talk about Ying/Yang!
DeleteThe irony with your post is the SRF promotes tolerance, acceptance and enlightenment. A true follower would smile and embrace all walks of life and see the goodness of everything. If you haven't reached this level, you need to move to monastery and train harder.
DeleteIf you find displeasure in those living life in a way they enjoy, one needs only to look into the mirror and ask themselves. "why have I become a hateful intolerant person?"
12:12 Sounds like there is a "hateful intolerant person" dwelling in you.
Delete1:24 - I have to agree! We all have a "hateful intolerant person" dwelling inside of us. That's not the important part. The important part is to first recognize it and then not act on it. I understand the irony that 10:02 wishes to point out, but like most irony, it's a generalization to make a point. 12:12 then uses an equal generality to make their point. 12:12 further adds a dose of micro-aggression by implying that 10:02 can in no way be a "true follower" since the attributes expressed are self evident. Further, 12:12 implies they are speaking on behalf of SRF but does not discuss what SRF's opinion on the Union's expansion plans!!
DeleteAhhh the Irony.......
- The Sculpin
SRF isn't a breathing entity. It doesn't have an opinion. Only the employees who may or may not reside/own in Encinitas downtown have opionions.
DeleteAlcohol license pending between Athena and Basil in Leucadia.
ReplyDeleteLook up city council resolution 1996-37. Applicant must show public convenience and necessity. City manager makes the determination unless other representative is designated.
ReplyDeleteThis is from the resolution under the section of necessity-
An applicant must provide evidence to the authorized agency that a substantial public demand for the product cannot otherwise be satisfied unless applicant's permit is approved. Information to be considered may include, but shall not be limited to:
a. Factual data showing that the applicant premises will provide an unique experience which could not otherwise be met within the City of Encinitas. Aspects of the unique experience may include ambiance, aesthetics or provisions of specialized services at the applicant premises.
b. Information from the Encinitas Substation of the San Diego County Sheriff that similar establishments within the City of Encinitas have not contributed significantly to the crime rate within the City of Encinitas.
Easily doctored data to satisfy these provisions. It'll be who has the most money/clout.
DeleteWhat's the problem with a restaurant serving beer and wine?
ReplyDeleteNone. It depends on the behavior of the patrons, which a restaurant can only marginally control.
DeleteAbout 50 alcohol-serving bars and restaurants west of the freeway in city of Encinitas between Solana Beach and Carlsbad.
Delete12:12 PM Talk about uptight! Inferring that some sort of judgment is being implied is your hang-up. It the is dichotomy of use that is being pointed out. Go have a pint and lighten up!
