  1. My objection is that the citizens are charged monies tonlisten to the mayor discuss city policy. Only the rich fat cats can afford this....

  2. A purposeful night it is and has always been.

Charging for attending a city event that our taxes ultimately pay for, one way or another, stinks.

What a free for all for developers and real estate interests this is. Charging an entrance fee eliminates most of the public and the publics interest.

This stinks. Oh well, maybe next year.

I say that every year, and when the time comes around again, I just can't believe our community cannot attend without paying.

Is this a standard operating procedure in other cities nearby?

    1. State of the City Address should be presented at City Hall. A repeat performance could take place elsewhere, within the city, as sponsored by the business associations.

  3. Yes. Its a chamber event and they can charge if they want. You can read her state of the City address anytime after the event. Whiner.

    2. The State of the City Address should not be billed as a Chamber Event." It's a City event, sponsored by business associations, which the city, in turn, sponsors, through subsidies.

  5. Should be the other way around. The PUBLIC gets to hear the speech first. Then the PRIVATE concerns can have their party and hear it on TV or video feed. I say we impeach the mayor if she is going to sell our information to the chamber or anyone else.

  6. It'll be everything is rosey - do you think the Mayor is going to be pessimistic? It would reflect back upon her management of city affairs - this is total BS - like the "sand and rocks" days of Gaspar.

  7. So what did Blakespear say that was worth $25??

Let me guess... she told us that city finances are in great shape.
How wonderful staff is and that they are the hardest working in the county.
And the city is ready to spend, spend, spend...am I close??

  8. The MC was shit this year - what happened to the bearded, funny Winfrey guy? I mean, no puppies with his hot wife on stage?! At least bring us some humor. Fail.

  9. Don't forget Gaspar also charged for the Mayoral State of the City event. Was it there where we learned about sand?
