Note to speakers: Get to the point! Don't waste the little time you've given rambling on about irrelevant stuff. And for Pete's sake, don't thank the council for allowing you to speak. It's your right. The people you're addressing are supposed to be serving you. For the most part, they have it backwards.
City of Encinitas is the worst run City in the County if not the State by far. It makes Oceaanside look well run, efficient and with leadership looking logical.
Since its difficult for Encinitas to dissolve and to get annexed into Solana Beach or Carlsbad, I will vote against every incumbent and candidate supporting this non professional management at the City. Its embarrassing, bad for Citizens' long term quality of life and very expensive for taxpayers to have this kind of shit show behind our City Hall.
I didn't vote for any city council last time, either, and the only reason Catherine got my vote was I hated Gaspar so much. All of them running are C students and their childish attitude towards cannabis is ridiculous. 170 people die everyday from prescription drugs. Our downtown is a drunk tank. And you're worried about senior citizens trying to relieve their pain or manage their diseases? What a sorry lot we have for "leaders".
The council pandered to conservative interests and failed to place the ballot initiative on the 2018 midterm election. Now it rolls over to November 2020; meanwhile, other progressive cities are collecting the lucrative taxes from the marijuana enterprises. The failure to implement the will of the electorate is appalling; but they're quick to accomodate the building industry.
2018 was not a choice. The initiative proponents missed the deadline for 2018 by several hours. If it was that important, why not get it all done days ahead of time. Council could have implemented it immediately, but that seems pretty undemocratic. So, 2020 it is.
On Oct 17 2018, the third largest country in the world, CANADA, will legalize pot completely for adult usage. Our city council is a shill for the alcohol industry and a whore for the developers. They deserve these insults. Their careerist mentality is detrimental to the Common Good. Shame on them.
The hate speech coming from Roger Thomas Ogden is worthy of being trashed every time he invades our local blog from his hovel down in a San Diego neighborhood. He deserves no quarter in our fine town.
Thank you WC for continuing to take his trash out. He has no place in our community. I feel for his neighbors who have to put up with such a black heart in their midst.
