  1. Dude with mcmansion buildings looming over his back yard told by Blakespear to go see Brenda to see if there's anything in the "code cleanup" that will let him grow some vines to block out the monstrosity "staff" approved.

Dude just got the bum's rush and is about to find out just how little satisfaction awaits him.

    1. I missed that one. Did the approved project conflict with code requirements?

    2. The speaker wanted to go above the 6-foot height limit for fences in order to grow plants on a trellis. He argued that the fence didn't exceed 6 feet. Staff doesn't agree. Blakespear told him to work with staff to get the code revision he would need. Good luck there.

There was another speaker, a young man with MS in an electric wheelchair, who heroically spoke with difficulty to ask for help from the city. He told how he had been knocked out of his chair crossing 101 at Chesterfield by a too high curb and been rescued by two motorist who stopped to help him. He also spoke of his collisions with obstacles on Santa Fe Drive when going to his treatments at Scripps. Again the bum's rush.

I hope a good lawyer was watching to file an easily winnable lawsuit agsinst the city based on non-compliacnce of ADA. This is the paradise we live in.

    4. I missed it but if these "bum's rush" occurred during Oral Communications the council can only ask staff to look into it or request it come back as an agenda item.

    5. Come on, we all know what happens when Blakespear sends a speaker to talk with "staff." Black hole with no resolution.

"staff" in quotes, really? I guess you can't let go of a good story whether or not it's accurate.

    7. "Staff" is in quotes, sure. It's meant as a slam, of course, and rightly so.

  2. Was the "McMansion" not built to code requirements?

  3. Big house that neighbors aren't used to. That's OK. They have their rights to build whatever they want. Nextdoor neighbors want a little privacy, you have to jump through hoops. Whether or not "staff approved" anything isn't important. Catherine's vapid suggestion is a brush off. Of course one could say, "Well what can she DO?!!?" For one thing she could talk to the city manger and give this guy a little leeway, and maybe bend the rules, something they do for David Meyer and his ilk all the time.

    1. Good one, 5:07. About sums up what goes on down at the Planning desk. Brenda is the head of the snake.

    2. The photo shows a 3 story house which is illegal. Why did Brenda and the planner approved this house? The max height is 26 feet or two stories at 26 feet.

    1. Correction on spelling - melanoma

God for bid grammar grandma reads this.

    2. "Forbid," not "for bid." That's something entirely different.

    3. Also, a blackhead is a pimple—nothing to do with cancer.

  5. I hope the guy who went to the meeting is reading this. Our neighbor in front, with whom we share a fence, allowed her brother to park a camper in her back yard and we hated the view so we put up framed lattice on top of the fence to cover the eyesore. Our neighbor-from-hell immediately called Code and they took one look and said "What's the big deal?" If it's private property you can erect a 20 foot fence if you want. Same thing with easements or flag streets. We put up a 3 foot picket fence to keep our new dog in the yard. Once again, the NFH called Code and I went to city hall and found out once again, if it's private property, which is what an easement is, you can put up anything as long as you don't block road access. Hope this helps.

  7. 11:36pm Mikey, you are the cancer here.

  8. Now even Brust blaming everything on Mikey . Pathetic.

  9. As usual for you, slimy mikey, you are dead wrong.

Karen would not bother to respond to your criticism.

  10. Now the City Council approved an auxillary part-time fire station in Leucadia - $750.000/year! It "improves" response time by 2 minutes, according to their estimates. Some lucky firemen will be getting some sweet bonus overtime - $$cha ching$$$! The City Manager and Sabine were on board too....

    1. Good. Clears an issue of Streetscape. Money well spent.

    2. It smacks of the various schemes to jack up salaries and pension rates. In San Diego, firemen do airport shifts and get paid bonus overtime. That shift consists mainly sleeping or watching TV. In Encinitas, it is part-time stations. Money well spent for 2 minutes? All in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.

      Delete
    3. Also it is a pathetic effort to make streetscape seem safer - read the fine print, it's a "part-time" staff that will have to negotiate at least five roundabouts to get to the south end of Leucadia AND will service southern Carlsbad.

This comment from a concerned taxpayer was met by the usual blank stares from four and a halfhearted show of concern, ignored by the rest of council and "staff," from the fifth (Mosca).

      Money well spent, my tail.

    1. Sounds like you are bored and should leave. Put yourself and the rest of us out of your misery. Buh-bye.

    2. 3:27 PM Discuss something "pertinent" then....

    3. I'm not bored. You are, so this is your problem to solve. You suggest something "pertinent" and the rest of us will decide whether we find it interesting enough for discussion.

      Delete
    4. Wrong, he or she is unimportant. The blog is boring.

      Delete
    5. Then don't read it, fool. Just go away and take your damp whiny ass with you.

      Delete
    6. Now we are discussing something important. What's wrong with this blog?? WHY is it boring?? Why cant the owner focus on the streets, the rail road?? Easier to have YOU do the work and tell him/her what's happening at the council meetings....

    7. 3;27 is just another welfare case that’s wants everything done for them. Sorry, not sorry, the wait list for your welfare housing is 10 years in Encinitas.

Go read another blog. I would say start your own blog but you seem like the type that can’t do anything on your own, just bitch and moan.

Does you mom bring you a sandwich when you whine like that to her? You probably make her bring it to you in the basement and get mad if she doesn’t cut the crust off.

Seriously dude, you sound like a 10yo princess.

    8. Probably a taxpayer-funded, city-directed troll. It would not come as shock to find out they're told to watch and post undermining commentary.

  13. Corrupting of the city's municipal code and General Plan in the planning and engineering department.
Who's in charge - Brenda Wisneski and Roy Sapa’u (he is under Brenda Wisneski in the department list).

    ReplyDelete
  14. Wrong- Brust is in charge and giving bad recommendations to the city council and bad direction to staff.

And the city Council is responsible for keeping the low performing city manager.

    1. We all need to wake up and realize they're all in it together. Staff/Brust are doing exactly as the council wishes.

      Delete
    2. For sure. The Mayor and City Council need to wake up and hire a competent City Manager.

This one cost quality of life for citizens and tax pairs dearly ...

      Delete
    3. She's competent as far as carrying out the council's agenda goes. You're looking at the from the wrong side of things. Council has noooo problem with her performance.

    4. Looking at this...

      Delete
    5. Well if that’s the case, the City Council and Mayor support how every task and project attempted by the city is FUBAM.

Then the City Council must go!

      Delete
  15. Wow! Council is that bad!?

Nothing good gets done. This city is run like a complete shit show.

Time for much needed change to get positive things done and stop selling out to bar owners and Huntington Beach developers!!
