Mike Andreen has really gone of the rails with this one. Andreen uses his New Encinitas Network blog for a long and bizarre rant against Council Member Teresa Barth and candidate Lisa Shaffer, trying to paint them as wanting to push high-density on New Encinitas.
In fact, Barth and Shaffer are working to prevent high-density development, and Andreen's buddies Jerome Stocks and Kristin Gaspar had their campaigns heavily funded by developers (and Stocks is directly responsible for Encinitas' huge unfunded pension liability, for which his solution will certainly be lots of high-density development to increase the tax base).
Andreen is entitled to his opinion, but why are these Encinitas businesses sponsoring his nonsense? If you're a customer of any of these, you might inquire.

I read this after it was first posted. Do the sponsoring businesses even know the vitriol Andreen is spreading? Shades of his disgusting Fire Wire email tree of more than a decade ago! He lives in Oceanside now.
ReplyDeleteI understand why Gaspar Physical Therapy, DCM Properties, and Jerome Stocks Insurance are on the list. The three have sponsored his dirty tricks. Others need to be informed of what he is up to.
It's a measure of Andreen's frustration and fear in the coming election that Stocks might be defeated that he sounds like he's slipped into the realm of unreality.
Does his group have a non profit status? If so, his political stance is a violation, is it not?

ReplyDeleteI suppose it's time to ask the bank manager because even though I don't think they are aware that their name is being used, it looks as though Wells Fargo is supporting MIke Andreen and his opinions.

Good post about the "rant." I noticed that while Andreen takes personal credit for his "WaveBlog," he provides a personal disclaimer (in the upper right hand margin of his blog) that his opinions do not reflect the views of any organization.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I feel the different organizations which Andreen represents through his El Camino Real Corridor Chamber of Commerce, should be made aware of his political bloggings and "floggings" so that they can evaluate for themselves his online ravings and his seemingly delusional perspectives . . .
Andreen's latest post signals a shift from the ridiculous to the macabre. Only a mind accustomed to hatching such Byzantine plots would suspect them so readily in others. I don't blame him for getting a little paranoid though. Those damn "Dump Stocks" stickers are popping up everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThe developer controlled ERAC commission have claimed that they DON'T want voters to decide on the General Plan Update, and they, along with Peder Norby have said that since the State would like to see us raise our level of density from 25 per acre being the highest to 30, that they will call it '30 Plus' but that really means '45 Units Per Acer.' They are also talking about 5-stories and 0'setbacks.

We have a business and we had actually thought about joining the New Encinitas Network for networking events, but there is no way now!
ReplyDeleteThe nicest thing I can think of to say about this long time contributor to our community is that he has consistently and effectively presented himself to be a self serving asshole that has always left a vile unpleasant wake.
ReplyDeleteAndreen says in an earlier post about the GPAC and city staff want to, ..."create gridlock, the outlawing of personal transportation and the taking of private property." He then makes up a quotes and atributes it to a GPAC committee member.

They both tried to ruin Peder Norby's reputation and professional career. Its time to go after those who live in glass houses. Who's paying them? I think that Peder Norby made a mistake with the Cardiff Plan. Some people are happy with him as the consultant for 101, but I think the General Plan is a disaster. Who has even read it? It is over 1,000 pages long and this is for an area that is 19 square miles. Everyone still hates it, Patrick Murphy and the Planning Department.

DeleteMike Andreen is spreading his lies and his distorted sense of reality blaming all the opponents of Jerome Stocks for everything that's gone wrong in the General Plan Update. Blaming Barth for the GPU and making it sounds sound was in cahoots with MIG and the planning staff is ludicrous.
ReplyDeleteThe Encinitas Right To Vote initiative will put the control back in the hands of the residents of Encinitas. Unchecked aggressive growth dictated by the State/SANDAG/ and the pro-developer council members will soon get a dose of reality check: Residents of Encinitas do care about their community characters and don't want to see height limits increased, deteriorating traffic, and fantasy concepts about smart growth.
Future up-zoning fueled by outside pressures will only be approved if approved by the residents that actually live in Encinitas, and not Oceanside like Mike Andreen, or Rancho Santa Fe like some influential members of the ERAC.
