Parking Nazis hit Cardiff

Cars on and around Summit Drive that were parked facing the wrong direction got parking tickets last night.

All of the cars were completely off the street, but parking the wrong direction is still technically illegal.

It's ostensibly a safety issue, as pulling out from parking the wrong direction is not as safe, but for all practical  purposes, this is ridiculous on a slow-speed, low-traffic residential road with perfect visibility.

This is what broke municipalities do: they turn their peace officers into revenuers.

This is not your father's Encinitas.

  1. Who had the clout to get the Sheriff's deputies to come out and ticket? Seldom, if ever, will the department get involved in parking violations.

  3. So, let me get this straight. People who park their cars in a manner they undeniably should know is against the law get parking tickets, and suddenly we're talking about Nazis?

Yep, that seems like a measured and reasonable reaction.

    1. People who order soup in a manner they undeniably should know is against the rules get banned from the store, but they still call him the Soup Nazi.

    2. Yeah, but every store has the right to refuse service to anyone, so how is your Soup Nazi analogy even close to being relevant to a parking ticket. If I had to take a guess, Mr. W.C. Varones received one of these tickets and wasn’t very pleased. Even if the street has great visibility and low traffic, I guess that makes it ok to break the law and park in any manner that you please. So if someone can do it in Cardiff where there is low traffic and slow speeds, what will stop them from doing this in areas where the traffic and speeds are greater. Getting a Ticket! Yep that’s right a ticket is a nice reminder to follow the rules of the road. I like how you only took a picture of the tickets placed on the cars and not the actual way they were parked incorrectly. The cars also had to still be parked on public property because if they were not then no citation would have been issued. Maybe these people that received the tickets should refresh themselves on proper driving etiquette .I bet next time they will not park that way!

    3. Every store has the right to refuse service, and every police department has the right to ticket people for bullshit infractions.

How is that not a legitimate parallel?

    4. So now your ticket is a bullshit infraction? Sounds like a sorry excuse for you getting caught. One is a law that everyone has to follow; the other is a personal choice to disrupt a business. The law enforcement agency is only doing their job and enforcing laws that u obviously don’t follow. Two different parallels, maybe in your mind getting denied soup and getting a parking ticket for breaking a law is the same but sounds like your just sorry you got caught. Maybe according to you laws shouldn’t exist but obviously you don’t have any good point except for the one on top of your head!
