Big new development being graded all the way from Quail Gardens Drive to Saxony.

  1. It's probably density bonus. And then they'll dump all their low income housing in Leucadia

  2. Can't they build a single thing in this town without manufactured pads to steal the views of neighbors? This is disgusting!

  5. Council members - Do you have a problem visualizing what it means to build up a pad? Move your little tootsies over to the above construction site. Look, observe, and measure the pile of dirt.

  6. I talked to Lisa Shafer and she told me that we need to accept large projects, density development and changes to our community. That's funny, because she told me something quite different during campaign.

    1. Shaffer lives off of Quail Gardens Drive. I hope she enjoys the added speeding traffic. The project was approved before she was on the council. The Planning Commission wanted it modified, but David Meyer refused. The PC denied it, he appealed, and the council supported his appeal. Is the council any different now?

    2. Maybe if we can bring it home to our Bait and Switch Council, they will understand what the rest of us are talking about. It is sad that they don't each have a hill of dirt to look at out of their windows. Maybe they would get it then.

  7. Term limits should start at 4 months. Adios to those council members that turn their backs on the community and community character.

  9. I guess I need to review the development agreement. If it is density bonus, where are the low income units?

    1. I like how this project was thrown out by the Planning Commission at the time, then David Meyer got a lawyer and threatened to sue the City. The City Council overturned the PC decision, and Jim Bond spoke about what a good personal friend David Meyer was.

Desert Rose was thrown out by the Planning Commission, and Tony Kranz talked about what a nice guy one of the developers was who attended the same church, coasched Tony's son, and took him out to lunch before the hearings. Their attorney, Marco Gonzalez allegedly threatened to sue the city if they didn't get it approved. Tony Kranz and 2 others voted to overturn the Planning Commission decision.

Now that Save Desert Rose has filed suit, Marco Gonzalez is claiming that he is going to stand, "shoulder to shoulder" with the City. This is surprising since there are many recordings of Marco threatening to sue the City.

All that I can say is that this is another terrible thing for Encinitas, and I don't think that Marco will get much work as an environmental lawyer going forward.

    1. NO. The property was owned by the Bahlmanns. The family sold its flowers through the Robert Hall sales department.

When I spoke with one of the representatives of Leichtag, I was told they would have liked to have bought it, but arrived to late on the scene. The Bahlmann family had already hired David Meyer to push the density bonus project through the planning process.
