Union-Trib: Judge doubts Pinesy's mental state.
Criminal proceedings against a controversial foreclosure attorney from North County have been suspended after a Superior Court judge expressed doubts about his "mental competency," said officials with the San Diego County District Attorney's Office.
Judge Runston G. Maino has ordered a Friday hearing to determine whether Michael T. Pines, who advised clients to retake possession of their foreclosed homes, should undergo a mental evaluation to see if he is fit to stand trial.
"The hearing judge expressed a doubt as to Mr. Pines' competency," said James Romo, the prosecutor assigned to the case.
Judge Maino has appointed a lawyer to represent Pines for "the limited purpose" of Friday's hearing, Romo added. If Pines is found mentally competent to stand trial, then the preliminary hearing will be set for Sept. 6.
Of course, a common indicator of insanity is the denial that one is insane:
Pines, 59, calls the judge's order "a delay tactic," saying he's an experienced attorney.
"They're trying to get more time because they realized they have no case," he told the Union-Tribune on Monday.
The judge might want to consider Pinesy's letter to the state bar and his lawsuit against banks, cities, the county, the state bar and others. They contain subtle indications of BATSHIT FRIGGIN' CRAZY!

Michael T. Pines stole money from my family and caused us to lose our house. He gave us false hope that he would save our house. He took $12,000. We had to borrow $10,000 from family members and he never did anything with our case. Now we have to repay the money he stole from us. Pines kept the money and ignored our calls and emails and then sent us a rude email telling us we owed him more money for him to continue working on our case which was never filed. Pines deserves to be behind bars for the pain he caused us. We have filed police reports and will probably join a class action suit against him since there are 5 other families I found online who also lost over $12,000 given to Pines who had us go to his bank and deposit our money into his bank account at Wells Fargo.

It is full of complete legal citations, annotations and irrefutable legal proof,"...and is the legal under-pinnings for his actions that have brought him to jail,...for no other reason than him fighting the powerful interests (banks), involved in the fraud & theft he refers to. I mean,...calling for his competency to be tested rather than put his allegations to the test,...and be done in the first place,...c'mon?!? Seems obvious once you've done some research and have knowledge?!?
From my own extensive research, I find his arguments are spot on?!? So, I wanted to know if anyone else commenting has done any research or read the book?
As far as his other cases or any threatening actions he may or may not have committed,...I simply couldn't comment on because I have incomplete background information and facts in order to pass any judgment?

Update: Pines moved from Medical Unit to a regular housing unit (8C) in the San Diego Central Jail. Once again the Sheriff is GUESSING at Pines height and weight. Sheriff says 5'7", maybe, but I'm going with FREAKY Napoleon complex and giving him not a centimeter over 5'6". And 200 lbs.? The Sheriff must be blind, not have a scale in the medical unit Pines just spent a week in, or just trusting Pines' word, which we all know if he's talking he's lying (or harassing or threatening). Pines is a rotund 250-270 lbs easy.

This is news? Attorneys do this often-very often. I can see how this man lost his home and is crazed would go looking for ways to make money. I mean who didn't- who doesn't have their hands just hovering outside of your pocket these days? I gave 12,000 for a divorce never filed, never ascertained the custody of my child, never served papers. But he did take the money and still sends more bills because he said he tried to call out of state. A very bad deal for sure but it's over. I'm not getting it back. I got my divorce for free with the help of the divorce workshop at county justice. Holding hate only hurts the hater. Oh yeah I also lost my house that year- had 500,000 in cash equity. Anyone who has lost a house esp during this countrywide take-over was put through hell and while it was happening all we heard was it's all your fault...you wanted a house. Lost our credit and couldn't even go get a decent apartment. Ease up on all this blaming, be vigilant about your money and those who take it from you. Don't sit there speak up and keep it up until you get what you need. And most of all let go of the hate, it certainly won't get you where you want to be.
