Mark Muir for city council?

The grapevine is abuzz with talk of Fire Chief Mark Muir wanting a city council seat. It's no secret. He's long been eyeing political office after he cashes out from the Fire Department with his six-figure pension.

Muir is a well-known political ally of Jerome Stocks, and if the Stocks majority wants to put Muir in Maggie Houlihan's seat, well, they have the votes to do it. The only thing that might stop them is that they fear public backlash.

Will you be there at tonight's special council session?

  1. Nice!!! Perhaps his supporters will use a wheelbarrow to get him from the parking lot to the council chambers.

Hasn't Mr.Muir sucked at the Govt tit long enough?? I guess not.

  2. I worked with Mark Muir as a Firefighter. While I'm not his greatest fan, I'm not his greatest detractor either. When you descend to the level of personal attacks, you automatically lose the argument. I suggest you change your moniker from Anonymous, to ignoramus. Then you will be perfect to run for public office, instead of kibitzing from the sidelines about something you obviously have no knowledge of or experience doing.

  3. Apparently he has now applied for the vacancy. My question - will he step down as Fire Chief if appointed to the Council? Otherwise, doesn't he have a substantial conflict of interest?

  4. From the City website:
"A career Fire Service person, Chief Muir has promoted his way through the ranks to his current position as Fire chief."

Interesting language - he promoted his way through the ranks. What exactly does that mean? He's a good salesman?
