New Encinitas Residents web site

Somebody has put a lot of effort into compiling and disseminating information about the General Plan Update.

Check out the new site New Encinitas Residents whether you're a New Encinitas resident or just someone else who would be negatively impacted by high-density housing and traffic gridlock on El Camino Real and Encinitas Boulevard.

  1. It appears as though Ecke's Ranch is included in the high-density proposal zone. No small wonder that he is trying the back-door rezone approach to getting his property out of his own self-imposed "agriculture in perpetuity" promise. Watch for him to be funding $tock$ reelection and the Muir campaign - these two are loyal to the big money developers.

  2. These people are not related to Mike Andreen. They are homeowners from around the El Camino Real corridor who are not unlike many Encinitas citizens that assume that things are OK in our town until someone decides to invade their neighborhood with an attempt to steal.

Anyone who has become involved in City politics usually does so for a particular reason, and notice that more and more people are becoming alientated from the Council Majority and City Hall employees and staff. I beleive that New Encintias and Olivenhain will prove important in the next election. Sorry that we didn't listen to Leucadia and Cardiff residents long ago. You guys were right!

You hit the nail on the head. Most everyone started as a NiMBY some people quit when they got what they wanted, others lost hope and gave up.

But hopefully most will stay involved.

  4. I was talking to a Olivenhan resident and asked if he knew what was going on in City Hall. He was aware of Stocks and Bond as councilmen, but said he didn't follow what was going on in city government. This struck me as indicitive of the attitude of a good portion of the local electorate - they don't pay attention to politics and those few that do vote are influenced by the last minute mailers and other paid propaganda that they receive. Kristin Gaspar's election is proof that advertising sells; it didn't even hurt her that she and Dalager rode on the same bandwagon! Stocks and Muir will be heavily supported by the pro-development groups - this year will be crucial. If these 2 are elected, watch for Encinitas to decline appreciably in character and style.

  5. The last 2 posts sound a lot like Mike Andreen. Encinitas voters, a few special interests who get the majority Council members elected are making huge contributions for false advertising and also are paying Mike Andreen to attack candidates and representatives who work on behalf of Encinitas citizens. Why would they do this? The larger question is why Mike Andreen would do this for a living.

This is a case of muckraking for the sake of stealing from Encinitas voters and property owners. People who find out about what is at stake in the 'New General Plan' are learning fast, and we have an election in 11 1/2 months that more people than ever before will participate in.

    Awarenes is growing!

  6. Hello,

A group of us are behind the www.NewEncinitasResidents.com website(also www.SaveNewEncinitas.com). The name of our group is Citizens to Save New Encinitas. Our goal is simple: do our own outreach so that as many residents find out what's really in the plan the plan and how our quality of life will be impacted. Please go on-line and sign our petition. We need to create enough noise about the plan before the plan is presented to City Council (April 18th, 2012). Council members up for re-election better think twice before adopting the draft in its current form. Among other things (there is a long list) the way they vote will largely influence their chances at the next election.

  7. HELP!!! The City, in all of its wisdom, has taken a lane away from north bound Coast Highway in Leucadia. We have more traffic than ever, thanks to all of the massive amount of new housing developements. Where I live, Coast Highway is the only thoroughfare. If there is some kind of emergency or disaster we'll only have one lane to evacuate. This City has its priorities all wrong. We need to stop this madness NOW! Is there a way we can stop them from ruining or town any more?
