Comments

We had to remove a few comments.  We are free-speech absolutists, but some of the comments were personal attacks that bordered on libel.  The Internet is a permanent kinda thing, and it can be damaging to someone's reputation and career to have personal attacks out there.

Please keep the comments to issues, not personal attacks, especially if you are using someone's real name and especially if the target is a private citizen, not a public official.

If you are the target of a comment you believe should be removed, please e-mail encinitasundercover at gmail.

  2. The LA firefighter needs mental help. You need to look very careful at his background and history before you accept his expert (???) testimony.

  7. I'm D--- Sm--- neighbor. He needs help! I've witness him cry and rant on trivial issues. I didn't know if I should put my arm around him or slap him on the face. I've also watched him talk to himself on many occasions. At least when he was talking to himself he wasn't wasting anybody else time.

  8. Thank you, W.C. Things had gotten totally out of control, with a small number of anonymous posters trying to hijack your blog with personal attacks and absolutely nothing to contribute to a rational discussion. Please don't give in to the cries of censorship. All citizens have the right to go to city hall and exercise their right of free speech.

    1. Yes all citizens have the right to go to city hall and freedom of speech, but when the statements made are false and lies others of us have the right to oppose those comments, and we will continue to do so.

  9. Some of our biggest problems are when we're forbidden to speak on a matter. But there's never a constructive reason for a personal attack, even upon the intentionally subversive. If someone is presumed to be wrong about something, address the reason(s) you feel why. And if your reasons are sound, hopefully a majority in your favor will follow. I know that takes a lot of fun out of it for some, but you knew life wasn't going to be easy long ago.

  11. WC- please remove the comment about Muir. I find it offensive. And also the one about Fred, I find it offensive. Thank you for keeping a sweet edited "free speech" kindof blog.

  12. I wrote it but I really do not think Fred is a poopiehead head. I have always liked him and respected him.
I do agree we need to stop personal attacks.
But, Muir was caught bending over and putting signs up two days, not a few hours, early. Fair game.
