Satire or reality?

Encinitas Guerrilla:
Following the recommendation in the staff's agenda report, the Encinitas City Council added an ordinance to the municipal code that bans common sense in city government. The council's action formalizes a practice that has been followed since incorporation in 1986.

Accordingly, the city will continue to maintain a bloated staff, and to pay salaries and provide benefits and pensions unmatched in the private sector. The city will also continue to pay at least double the going rate to consultants, to contractors for capital improvement projects and to property owners for purchases.

  1. Hmm, satirical question even.

The ban is de facto but not encoded — yet.

  2. Meanwhile your streets go unrepaired......

  3. 10:48, Do you have any idea how many streets get repaired in Encinitas each year? I see quite a few being done. Meanwhile, another town found a way to expedite repairs...

    1. Meanwhile my neighbors and I got tired of asking the city to fix the street so we did it ourselves, but we aren't paid the big bucks to do the job....
Meanwhile the city pays more for junk property than it is worth...

    2. Perhaps the "quite a few" streets 1:38 claims to see repaired are actually being fixed by residents.

      Typical fp comment.

    4. No money for roads. All the roads will look like San Diego's shit.

All the money is going to the Operational costs for the glorious sports park. I bet you spend every day there right? Me too. In fact, I have yet to go. No reason. What a huge waste of money and water. Fail.

We can do better. No Pacific View. Let the non profit pull together funds.

    5. 7:18, you may be right. All it takes is miles of asphalt, a steam roller and a few dozen volunteers in the middle of the night.

  4. How about dumping half of the city's administration? Sounds like they all out-source their work to consultants anyway. Just have one Consultant Czar that does all of the out-sourcing.

  5. "The maximum permitted sign area for each dwelling unit is five (5) square feet and the sign must be placed a minimum of two (2) feet from any property line or public right-of-way."

I have a neighbor who has placed a sign or two in the public right of way. Should I call code enforcement, or can I remove as a Good Samaritan?

    1. The real issue about the sign ordinance is that Sabine and Morrison fleeced us again by writing one that was stupid in the first place and that was being fought by the ACLU at election time.

Does anyone have an update on the case and on what other services our city attorney has over charged us for?

    2. Of course not. Sabine enjoys the Council's protection.

    3. Is the shrink still after Sabine? If so, get over him.

    4. A lot of people are after his firing. You can focus on the shrink if you like, but she ain't alone.

  6. Sabine being kept around with his bilking of taxpayers in legal fees would indicate council doesn't respect citizens calling for his removal which has been pretty constant.

  7. Sabine has milked this city for all it's worth - and he is still there! Amazing!
