San Dieguito grad & Seaside Market employee sentenced to 21 years

Last year we brought you the strange tale of longtime local 53-year-old Robert Parker, who had a bad morning and robbed a restaurant and was shot by cops after crashing his motorcycle.

He was sentenced to 21 years, which is way more than people get for trying to kidnap and rape underage girls these days.

Which one do you think is a bigger threat to the public in the future?

  2. Why is EU so obsessed with crime stories?

  3. If you rob a store at gun point, lead police on high speed chase and then point a gun at police, what the hell do you expect? Lock him away. He was a danger to every citizen of Encinitas that may have been around him at the time. What liberal clap trap would think otherwise?

  4. Great. Now who will make my sandwich?

Surely we can agree on early parole for prisoners who can make a tasty hoagie?

The officer wasn't killed or wounded. In fact, he never even fired his gun. And also, his hoagies are really really good.

    Let's be reasonable here.

    1. Making tasty sandwiches is the definition of good behavior, IMO.

  6. There are some strange characters that post here.

  7. He had a younger girl friend with expensive tastes.
A sandwich jockey apparently didn't cut the salary grade, so he attempted to augment it with armed robbery. Should have been a lawyer.

  8. Clarification: the rapist dudes need to get locked up for a long time.

They committed a serious crime, and to my knowledge, they have never made any good sandwiches for local citizens.

    Not one.

  9. Del Mar to start streetscape improvements.
DM a city that gets things done.
Encinitas, 15+ years of PLANNING( sitting on their can) for Leucadia streetscape.
Enc a city that sits on its hands and passes gas.

    Encinitas equals FAILURE!!

  10. Del Mar's efforts seem to be ignoring the biggest thing that could improve that street for its community. Roundabouts.

Roundabouts are good. Traffic Signals waste life, time, emissions, and kill community character. Come on Del Mar- you can do better!

    1. The people who can afford to live in Del Mar are older than dirt. Old people generally are more resistant to new things, even if clearly better. Del Mar will always be home to flip phones and terrible traffic.

    2. Not enough room for roundabouts on 101 in Del Mar.

    3. Not true. Sounds like one the idiots spreading false information in Leucadia. Some old hag dogs living in Leucadia, lie and can't be thought to speak the truth. Right hags?

  11. 9:56am The same is true for the streetscam of a plan for the Leucadia corridor.

If a genuine effort to control traffic flow along the 2.5 miles was true, the roundabouts would be evenly spaced, and not as they are, with 5 or 6 north of Leucadia Blvd and one south of there.

This is a cluster frack in the making. Take a poll of businesses on the Leucadia 101 and residents west of the 5. The truth will bear out the fact that the current plan is motivated by profiteering and not the will of the majority of residents. All the mainstreet groups are stacked with real estate interests. Not all, but a significant portion are.

    Take the poll now!

  12. Poll, smoll..... same old crap from the same old hags.

The City needs to build the long overdue streetscape already!

We are pissed its taking 17 years to even get to this point with no schedule to ever build the needed improvements.

The above comment sounds like one the idiots spreading false information in Leucadia. Some old hag dogs living in Leucadia, lie and can't be thought to speak the truth. Right hags?

The hags call themselves, Keep Leucadia Crappy Club (KLCC). I took a poll, and everyone in Encinitas, except the 7 CLCC standing club members, want the streetscape NOW.

  13. They repeat the same BS over an over like a mentally-challenged parrot.

You can't have a fact-based dialog with them, because they make everything up.

Just pat them on the head and say "That's nice, dear."

The city needs to get moving. They'll get over it.

  14. One lane in each direction on 101. Six roundabouts with five of them from Jupiter St to La Costa Ave. Longer emergency response times. What's to like?

Mention those features to anyone and the response is, Has the city gone crazy?

  15. ... thats nice dear. City get busy building it!
