  1. What a mess in the video filming of the Council meeting tonight. Was this meeting pre-recorded and then spliced. It jumped all over the place. At 6:41PM the broadcast of the Council meeting was just cut off.

  2. Sorry I couldn't attend tonight, too busy reading the 150+ page Measure U textbook that arrived in today's mail. At least I don't have to share with the other voter in the house, who also got one. Why are our tax $$$ going towards this crap?

    1. The Planning Department can't handle getting this material out before the mail in ballots, and people are going to let them oversee development of the entire city with Measure U? No way! Vote No on Measure U!

    2. Agreed. The City is not managed well. Things always done half assed or not at all.

      Need new management.

    3. City is managed according to council direction. Don't hear the five complaining the mailing went out late. They're fine with it. Probably thought they were being clever.

If this latest "mistake" isn't a reason to vote no, I don't know what is.

      Need new council.

    4. Four voters in my house. We received five U booklets, with one of us getting two.

  3. 6:47pm You missed nothing. Not a single agenda item. What a waste of time. There was nothing to be missed.

Thanks for checking in and caring more than our city obviously does.

Next weeks council meeting is the last before the election. Want to take any bets?

Some of the dynamics were somewhat interesting however.

Tony and Tasha sitting next to each other with hardly a glance at each other.

    Little wonder.

Mark and Joe sitting next to each other , much the same.

    Little wonder.

    Catherine absent.

  4. Anybody know how much the latest Measure FU booklet cost us taxpayers?

Someone should be made to pay for this rag of a publication besides us taxpayers. What a scam and a sham.

Then again, we have seen this before. Shame on us for voting for any of them.

In some imaginary world, it would nice if we could vote them out, instead of voting for the least offensive.

Put that choice on the ballot and those results might be interesting.

    1. Isn't the pamphlet a requirement of Prop A? You can't have it both ways........

      Delete
    2. What "both ways?" You're treating two separate things as one and the same.

The pamphlet mailing itself is required in the name of true transparency. Prop A anticipated the city wouldn't tell us if it didn't have to. You may be one of those who trust our elected; many of us do not.

The size of the thing is the problem and that is the city's fault. If it weren't stuffed with everything the developers asked for, from reduced setbacks, to less onsite parking (both worse than they were in Measure T, btw), to the elimination of "constraints" that include Prop A itself, you would not have the massive paper waste.

The mailer isn't a waste. What's in it is.

  5. Some of you need to go out and enjoy your City while you're still healthy enough to do it. Or not.

  6. What a joke! I voted against that catastrophe of a Measure two days before I even received the pamphlet in the mail. Lets just say that someone at City Hall blew it. I don't think the City Council directs staff. I think that is the City Managers responsibility.

I think the City Manager keeps trying to point the blame at some Council members she doesn't like

  7. This City is so poorly managed. Everything City Hall touches is F'd up....

Housing Element, Streetscape, Quiet Zones, Coastal Rail Study, Beacons Beach.... Name it and they have Fd it up.

How City Council can stomach this incompetence is beyond belief?

    1. They're not complaining.

Conclusion? They're getting just what they want. The council is actively working again residents.

    2. Horvath is trying to defeat the Peter Principle by running for the Assembly - vote for Elizabeth Warren.

    3. The City Council is complicit in the incompetence.

  8. You got that right. Again against residents.

      whats that mean?

    2. Yes. Every time I talk with her.

Has anyone ever heard the City Manager say anything that is sincere and added value to a conversation?

    3. Don't vote for her until you see the whites of her eyes?

  10. Horvath's political smear mailer on Elizabeth Warren - "she is not the Senator Elizabeth Warren".. Horvath has no credentials to speak of - she is a dupe of the local insider political clique. Vote Warren.

  11. Tasha served on the Planning Commission, rather did, half way, before running for the city council seat.

Half way through her term on our city council, she started running for the state assembly seat.

    Anybody see a pattern there?

Can anyone believe Tasha deserves to be elevated to the state assembly seat, even if it would get her off of our council? I hope not.

Ambition, and personal, at that, don't reward her. We have more than enough of such in our political system, as it is.

Add to that, her tactics of attacking Elizabeth Warren's credibility is an example of how low she will go.

    Enough already.

I know there are some around here that want her gone from our city council, but rewarding her with a higher office is not the way to go.

Elizabeth has the heart for the job that we need her to do without looking for personal ambition driving her. She is the only candidate that deserves the state assembly seat.

Vote for our own Elizabeth Warren.

    1. Horvath denegrates her campaign to smears and innuendo. We don't need her in the Assembly - she sold her soul to the Machine.

  12. Its so weak when candidates run on other people's popular names. I can't wait for someone to change their name to Abraham Lincoln or George Washington and win the presidency.

Remember when we were stuck with James Bond all those years. Ha.

  13. 6:32am. oh mikey, mikey, why do you even bother?

You do know something about weakness , and in your case, of character.

Our Elizabeth Warren does not run on anothers' name. She runs on her own and has never attacked her opponent. That is the strength of her character, something you have never had.

Can't say the same for Tasha.

    1. Horvath is for the gas tax (Proposition 6) - her attitude is "Let them eat cake". If elected, she'll have her taxpayer paid State car and credit card - why should she care?

    2. Is this mikey whose name keeps coming up a real person or just a generic scapegoat?

  14. Horvath claims no outside money, but is supported by union PACs. She quietly supports outrageous municipal pensions and will do what she is told in the Assembly. She is just another cog in the wheel - no independence there. Vote Warren.

  15. Just some of the sponsors of Tasha Boerner-Horvath:
    *Chevron Corporation and its Subsidiaries/Affiliates
    *PG&E Corporation and Affiliated Entities
    *California Association of Realtors
    *Correctional Officers Union
    *Fire Fighters Union
    *Building Trades

And she claims she is working for the people?? Complete sham - she is bought and paid for by special interests. That is where her loyalty lies!!

Vote Elizabeth Warren for an independent candidate.

  16. I would bet that 80% of the voters in this election have already cast their vote. Now all we can do is wait, take down all those hideous signs, and wait for the results. I sure hope FU fails for Encinitas sake.

  17. Reading these posts you'd think that Tasha and Elizabeth were of different parties - but they're both D's! My how we are so willing to eat our young......

  18. I wouldn't vote for a demo. they believe in big Gov, and even bigger welfare which kills individual souls. The sad part is they are so stupid they don't even realize that by providing all the handouts, they are making the precipitants more miserable by giving up personal freedoms and free will.

    1. So, 6:40, you're gonna deny your Social Security and Medicare when you're eligible if you aren't already, you've never collected unemployment benefits, and you didn't go to public school, am I right?

You don't like the America that FDR, Truman, JFK, Johnson, Carter, Clinton, Obama and other Dems created — the greatest prosperity for the greatest percentage of the population ever in human history — am I right again?

Who jacked the national debt through the roof? Wasn't that Reagan and the second Bush? Who's amping it up even higher now? Isn't that Trump?

Who put California back on an even keel after Arnold and the Reps tilted it off the rails? Wasn't that Jerry Brown?

And by the way, you mean participants, not precipitants.
