This map was put together by Susan Turney, a candidate for city council.
Measure U citywide impact.
Measure U was the high-density development plan rejected by voters but then imposed on the city by the city council anyway in the face of state pressure to add housing.
In this Coast News op-ed, Turney points out that the numbers given to the public are quite different than the numbers given to developers.
In other news, Gaspar gracefully accepting career change.
ReplyDeleteGood for you, KG.

She has many talents and doesn't try to run our town into the ground like our crappy Mayor.
DeleteWe love our own Encinitas resident and County Supervisor Kristin Gaspar!!!
ReplyDeleteShe’s a drinking bird toy lookalike, and about as smart.
DeleteShe’s already gone. It won’t be close. She squeaked by a guy plagued by scandals. Since then, the district has shifted left with way more registered D than R voters.
Her response was to sue her former opponent for being a big meany, standing in front of a camera touting her vote for Trump, then later backtracking, then going to visit him in the White House, then joining a lawsuit that was tossed out by the Supreme Court yesterday. Along the way, she voted to send taxpayer dollars to an org she was on the board of without disclosure. She’s also known for unprofessional drama queen stompy feet exits from meetings where she’s not getting her way.
She gone, brah.
Say bye.
Much better than our sad joke of a Mayor.
DeleteOur city council is inept. They should have figured out a way to put a bunch of affordable housing on the L-7 parcel on Quail Gardens. Way more bang for the buck. That way, we could have met our state requirements re affordable housing in as efficient a way as possible. And we could have kept Prop A in place. It feels like something shady may have happened behind the scenes when the L-7 parcel was taken off the list. Not cool. The city council members need to be voted out in the next election.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it true that the city owns this parcel and could get almost all of the need taken care of at once? Some of the residents in this area are very vocal about putting density onto other sites and openly bribe council candidates with offers of campaign donations. That on its own makes me want to put high density this site.
DeleteMosca, Kranz, Muir voted L7 off. They made some deal with the L7 neighbors that if they got the site off the map the neighbors would get them reelected. That map still shows the L7 neighbors getting screwed royally so that's how much the trio came through for them.
DeleteIt was too close to Ecke's place - {who runs Barter Town? - Ecke runs Barter Town!)
Delete(refer to Mad Max movie)
Clark St. neighbors outed some very questionable behavior regarding L7:
ReplyDelete"Further, the email sent by David Meyer to the City suggests DCM is working with the property owners to file a density bonus application. And that they have given DCM their permission to express interest in a land swap for L-7 OR a rezoning to 30 units per acre."

My favorite thing about our Mayor is she is a Developer's Whore.
ReplyDeleteShe works so hard for us to turn Encinitas into Huntington Beach but even better with more drug addict bums. Isn't she great!?
What do you love about our Mayor?
9:34 -she's like every mayor Encinitas has ever had. No difference.
ReplyDeleteYou, as a resident, are a willing bottom
SHE isn't like any other mayor. SHE is the monster from the black lagoon. Vote her out.
DeleteMy favorite thing about our Mayor is how she ignores known hazards and is forced to give away millions of our tax dollars to so many people harmed. Its our silly mayor. People get run over because of hazardous conditions, they have to sue because their lives are gone or ruined and then our Mayor doesn't even address the known hazard. Oh our silly Mayor. You have to love her.
ReplyDeleteFollowing the three mowed down on N.C. Hwy101 and the other known accidents due to the hazards in Cardiff, our City will have zero money to do anything but get further run down. The Walker lawsuit is dropping now - Item 8 on a long list of current litigations on today's Closed Session City Council meeting. Following Walkers $5,000,000 plus payout, many more to come for Stephanie Berger, and the other fellow mowed down. Wait for the Cardiff suits start dropping.
Hey gotta love our Mayor. What do you love about our Mayor?
There's never been such a long list of lawsuits against the city as was posted this week on the closed session agenda. Total payouts could reach eight figures, all credited to our mayor and her professional staff.
ReplyDeleteGood job Susan Turney!! It will be refreshing to have someone on the council who is smart enough to do her own research and who isn't afraid of hard work.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you call a day when another candidate is discovered to have posted **HOURS** of bigoted rants on Facebook?
ReplyDeleteIf the party is the GOP, you call a day like that: Wednesday (today).
Friendly reminder to all voters. Election Day is coming, and one of the major parties has a major problem with racism. If you don’t condone yourself a raging racist, consider whether it may be time to send them a message. If you can’t bring yourself to vote for the other side, then maybe just stay home until they get the message that pandering and playing footsie with racists isn’t cool.

1:30 are you referring to an Encinitas council candidate or just finding a random thread on which to post your information?
DeleteHe's just LARPing as usual. Maybe he's actually Rick Wilson?
ReplyDeleteLooks like Elitist Sal got caught virtue signaling at his 2000 person strong no social distancing event during the worst virus in our lifetimes...
Oopsie
The deceit is strong in this town...

More high intensity development blocking sun and views, more traffic and congestion, more crowded beaches, more pollution, more bars and wastiods walking our streets causing trouble and crime, nore lawsuit payouts of taxpayer's money for unsafe roads, more drugged out bums, more bum crime, more high intensity development blocking sun and views, more traffic and congestion, more crowded beaches, more pollution, more bars and wastiods walking our streets causing trouble and crime, and less freedoms from our Mayor!
ReplyDeleteWow. What a great job Mayor and cronies! Just what I had envisioned for Encinitas. Now I do not need to move to Hermosa Beach after-all. Keep up the great work.
ABC
And your solution is to hire a BIA member.
DeleteBrilliant.
Thunder's husband is a member as a requirement to be a sub contractor - all contractors are for all phases of construction.
DeleteWe see how Blakespear is destroying our town. There is no defending her pro-development "my hands are tied, wish I could help, sorry" voting record.
ABC.
Are you seriously saying the Thunders’ hands are tied regarding BIA membership while criticizing the mayor for using the same phrase?
DeleteTo change the zoning in East Encinitas from horses to ghetto dwellings. Fakespear, I will do everything in my power to see you and your dolts do not get re-elected. Ruin my neighborhood, I ruin your employment. And that other clown Moscow. You hacks
ReplyDeleteOlivenhain got the least units of any community. Leucadia got over 40% of the units.
DeleteSo now you think Olivenhain should have even less? That your tiny share should be sent into someone else’s neighborhood?
Selfish much?
. . . and the horse you rode in.
10:38 apparently you do not know the area where the rezoning took place. Olivenhain has historic value, not ghetto value. But, typical people like you don't care.
DeleteRuin everything no matter what.
Oh. So your neighborhood is special and fuck everyone else.
DeleteNice.
10:49...just your boyfriend.
DeleteLets not turn this into a Mosca drama queen venue.
ReplyDeleteWe know he got run out of his last town for not being honest.
ReplyDeleteIst that what will repeat itself? Geeze Mosca, ever learn?
This upzoning and high density plan is a total capitulation and sell out to the developers. This entire council and the Mayor need to go - this "plan"represents the total destruction of the composition/atmosphere that makes this city a pleasant place to live.
ReplyDeleteThe council and obedient staff are intent on destroying the very things that make Encinitas a great place to live. Kick three of them out in November!
DeleteOnly one correction, 10:50. Flip the order for the real order of operations down at city hall: "staff and obedient council."
DeleteKick all three out is right. Bad players on "staff" should then self eliminate.
All of this leftist garbage is coming from the America hating left in Sacramento. The nut case newsom and his girlfriends are behind this. Try and focus. Oh' gee, I forgot to mention the mayor and the others are leftists, sorry, forgot.
DeleteAgreed. We need leaders who want to maintain the positive character of Encinitas. All must go.
ReplyDeleteWe can have State Wiener leading Mosca on votes on Encinitas land use.... oh that does sound bad.
