Another injury at Blakespear's bike obstacles

 Facebook:

I just found out that on Dec 10th one of the guys in my riding group went down hard riding north just before Chesterfield. Among other injuries he was knocked unconscious but remembers hitting a wheel stop after being pressured by a car merging into the right lane. This is the second guy in my group to have a crash in that area where cars have that short window to get into right turn lane. ... [I will check and see how he feels about sharing his name]. I think he broke his pelvis and possibly shoulder.

  1. So, it wasn't the fault of the car that "pressured him"?
It was someones fault that wasn't there?
How about if the injured ran into a power pole. Would that be the fault of SDG&E? A hydrant, the City of Encinitas?
I'm starting to think cyclists are now a protected class.

    1. Cyclists should not be an endangered class, is the point 11:07.

Blakespear's and her professional staff are creating issues where virtually none existed before. Blakespear ignores experienced cyclist input and goes with her inept staff and hubby input instead.

Blakespear is responsible for 20+ accidents, some of which have sent cyclists to the hospital. Again, in case you missed it the first time: these accidents that she calls "incidents" or "anecdotal and unverified" are new to Cardiff, thanks to her idiotic design. She's been in hiding since the first started coming fast and furious back in Aril.

One lawsuit filed and more pending - so much for her promise to "stop the bleeding" from lawsuits. Criminal, many call her.

Blame falls squarely on her. There's your mayor for ya.

    2. Back in "April." Correlation is not in dispute. She calls it a "learning curve" so acknowledges in part that there's something wrong with the design but in typical Shaffer fashion, blames the victims.

  4. The rumor is that Hubbard is stepping down in January. It's getting real. Who are the replacement candidates? Rumor also says the mayor will refuse to hold an election: "too expensive," not that that's every stopped her when she wanted something. And we know the last something that she wants is Thunder from Cardiff elected to the Cardiff seat.

    2. Not at all. Kneejerk much?

Blakespear's legendary need for control aside, did she hold an election to replace Boerner Horvath or did she plug #2 choice Hinze in without even a thought to appointing the next-highest vote getter?

      Study your history : https://www.sandiegoreader.com/news/2019/jan/14/stringers-hinze-appointment-shows-encinitas-splits/

"The January 9 unanimous appointment to the Encinitas City Council of Kellie Shay Hinze, executive director of the Leucadia 101 Main Street Association completes a singular vote for Encinitas of what one longtime community activist labeled as a “raping of the community.”

Once again, the fix is in.

    3. An appointment is not only legal but also fiscally responsible.

And your article is a joke. It never should have been run with an anonymous quote from a "longtime community activist" comparing the political appointment of a qualified community leader with rape. Cowardly.

1.) You switched from "projecting" to agreeing that Blakespear will not hold an election and are already making her excuses for her.

2.) "Qualified community leader" is hilarious. Check Hinze's voting record compared to the mayor's and tell us how she's a leader. We'll wait.

3.) Fair enough on the anonymous quote. Here's another, attributed: "Hinze is the fifth member of a corrupt club. The council represents special interests and themselves, not the majority of residents.” News flash: many, including loyal Dems, agree.

  6. Want to make city council decisions?

    Step 1: win an election.

I love how the dumb fucks claim to represent the views of citizens and yet can’t win an election.

    1. Having a tantrum, are we? Let's go back to the original comment that set you off:

The rumor is that Hubbard is stepping down in January. It's getting real. Who are the replacement candidates? Rumor also says the mayor will refuse to hold an election: "too expensive," not that that's every stopped her when she wanted something. And we know the last something that she wants is Thunder from Cardiff elected to the Cardiff seat.

So 5:16 you're in agreement that it will be an appointment and no election. It's kind of hard to win an election if it's not held, so not sure how one would complete your Step 1.

Back to the question: what does Blakespear's appointee list look like? Don't play dumb that she doesn't know yet, of course she does. Heck, she listed the Saxony parking lot as an "accomplishment" for 2019 even though the vote to approve it wouldn't happen until 2020.

Honestly, I don't know how you Blakespear supporters do it.

      There are no participation trophies.

Don’t expect anyone to hand you anything.

      Elections have consequences.

      The end.

      Delete
    3. Just predicting, not any handouts. So now that we agree that the mayor will be sidestepping an election and appointing, who's your pick? Short list so far based on the assumption that they'll vote as told:

      Jim Wang
      Lisa Shaffer
      Susan Sherod
      Molly Woods Drake

Which will be handed the trophy without having participated? 9:53 typical Blakespear follower. All Kool Aid, no logic.

    4. It’s all hypothetical, based on rumors you pulled out of your ass.

But the current council earned the right to appoint. And so far, every appointment has been validated as a fine choice by the voters.

You are a petulant child who wants something without earning it.

      Step 1: win an election.

      Delete
    5. Not hypothetical or pulled from a body part, intel from within her cabal. My money's on Shaffer.

"The council earned the right to appoint" missed that during the campaign but I suppose so. Now the Kool Aid drinkers get to enjoy the fruits of whatever the BIA has in store for them. This council is merely the willing conduit.

      Investing in popcorn.

      Delete
    6. If step 1 is winning an election, then I’m not sure calling the voters “Kool Aid drinkers” is a good approach. Voters tend not to vote for people that call them names. This may explain why your candidates have been consistently losing. That, and demonizing the BIA while running the concrete queen, whose campaign was literally funded by the family BIA-member business.

      But, you do you.

      Good luck.

      Delete
    7. I'm an observer, not a candidate, so when I meet a Kool Aid drinker I invite them to get their spun news and false facts from sources other than the mayor and her attorney bff. Denial is a powerful drug and knowledge weans you off it.

I did not run Thunder. The BIA does a fine job of demonizing themselves without anyone's help. Their endless "won't pencil out" plaint is repeated gladly by this council you apparently support.

My wish for you: may you experience one or more high density housing developments on your block. You are in serious need of a reality check.

      Delete
    8. Ah, yes.

I’m sure you subscribe to the position that Encinitas is embroiled in far too many court cases. That the legal and financial risk posed is unacceptable.

And yet, at the same time, you think it’s perfectly reasonable to flip the middle finger to state law, and engage in a massively expensive and quixotic legal battle against Sacramento.

Makes perfect sense. Very rational. Very consistent.

Or are you in the magical fairytale camp that believes we can use the Jedi mind trick on the State, and convince them that we are compliant without changing anything material?

      Voters are smart.

They didn’t fall for magical fairytales, and they won’t in the future.

    9. Geez it would take more time than it's worth to unravel your misinformation and you wouldn't listen anyway. Do yourself a favor though: take a break from the mayor's newsletter and do your own homework. Notice the discrepancies.

And see how far you get with Blakespear when you're begging for your block but she's got Gonzalez threatening to sue. See who wins and who loses. Spoiler alert: Gonzalez is not above dissembling, but the mayor will lap it up anyway and rule against you. You'll feel real smart when you're screwed and you learn whose team she's really playing for.

      OAO. Back to my popcorn.

    10. The appointment, if it comes must be a Cardiff resident. We have voting districts now for those who forgot or never knew. Jim Wang lives in Cardiff and is a favorite of Blakespear. He's surely on the list. Julie Thunder lives in Cardiff. She surely NOT on the list. It will be an appointment. It's the CB way.

  7. So what about the bike obstacle courses? Another down in the fantasy "improved safety" cycle trap, a poor fellow dead and a driver who will never recover thanks to the "improved safety" lane bollards lanes on Leucadia Blvd., and truly bizarre Willowspring "improved safety" restriping that neither keeps bikes out of the dooring zone nor accommodates vehicles within a normal street width.

I don't know how much more "improved safety" I can take. Have to follow on to 5:44: how do you Blakespear supporters do it? Manage to keep up the pretense?

BlAspear is so bad for Encinitas. Pain, Suffering and massive waste of taxpayers $$$$ to attorneys and those run down and maimed. After this one, there is still Stephanie and the others to go. I wonder when the City will finally address the known hazard?

    1. Blakespear immediately barfing all over the Coast News that this stretch of road was a "known issue" will serve only to get more money for Walker.

But here's the deal. It was pitch black out, Walker had ridden this section tons of times, but she suddenly didn't understand the "confusing road signage." The street she claimed she was turning off onto the 101 had a stop sign.
Did she come to a complete stop, see the truck, and go anyway? Story's clear as mud.

The sheriff won't release the report and that's odd. He also wouldn't release it pre-lawsuit so what was the holdup? Inquiring minds....

  16. Anyone who has seen the Leucadia Post Office parking lot in the wee hours, knows it is completely empty.

No way did Roberta ride her bike down the stop sing and make a sharp right turn.

She angled across the parking lot and moved out onto the 101 in the dark without slowing down.

Little wonder the driver was not cited.

Roberta should own up and accept some personal responsibility and not try to fleece the city. Any other avenue is a scam on every tax payer.

Enough of this bs crap. Just because our mayor is a friend is no excuse for avoiding her choice to ride where and when and how she did that fateful morning.

    OUR city owes her nada.

She owes OUR city an apology for trying to milk us all.

Not to mention the driver who will have to live with what happened through no fault of his own for all his days.

Roberta needs to do the right thing and not blame her accident on anything but her own actions.

Anyone want to take a bet on whether she was wearing head phones at the time?

This whole issue stinks. I am sure lawyers are pushing renumeration to the max. That is what they do.

Roberta, by continuing this lawsuit against the city you are absolving yourself of any responsibility for your own actions.

Step up!! Your choosing to blame the city disgusts me.

Blaming the city and every tax payer for your choice to ride when you did, and how you did, is on you and you alone.

  18. The worst time has passed”However, it is true that there are more improvements than before...because of the rising numbers of people living with HIV in the state of Nevada. How could they stigmatize all of them? Therefore everything becomes a little easier and we start to share everything... We also started to invite and visit each other in a community. You know, it is six years since I started taking antiretroviral drugs...Yet whatever problems I face, the worst time has passedWhen I was evicted from the family home by my mother, my father rented a small room for me. But my mother and brothers believed that having HIV was my own fault – and that I deserved to be punished...I also considered myself unworthy and without hope... But I have a child and eventually I convinced myself to live for my child’s sake.
My mother knew nothing [about HIV]. She didn’t understand anything. Do you know why? She didn’t have [the chance] to go out of the house and communicate with society. However, my father does interact with the community. I know his friends are mature and dignified africa america. So he has a better understanding than her.My father came call me on a sadfull day sitting on my couch about a friend of his from africa who introduce him to Dr Itua Herbal Center in africa in which he advise we should purchase his herbal medicine to cure my hiv so we did and Dr Itua prescribed I should drink the herbal medicine for two weeks to cure although we were so curious about the whole thing ,I finished the herbal medicine like he advised then he talked to me to visit my nearest clinic for check up I did and now I'm totally cured from Hiv my father was my rock and I and my family are now happy together also Dr Itua has be helpful in my community ever since he cure my Hiv so why I'm leaving  my story on here today is to reach out someone out here to hope on God and never give up no matter the situation you that you are facing especially through this pandemic seasons which has really taught us all on how we should be helpful to each other and cherish one another.Dr Itua cures the following diseases.....  Brain cancer,Gestational trophoblastic disease,Head and neck cancer,Ovarian cancer,Hodgkin lymphoma,Herpes,,Liver cancer,Throat cancer,
