Barnyard robocall

Here's the robocall against Catherine Blakespear that everyone is talking about.

They don't say who produced it, but our guess is Lerchbacker supporters. Doesn't seem like a Graboi kind of move.

  1. I have no evidence of this at all, but, my guess Bob Bonde or an ally of his. This kind of exaggeration is his style. Have seen it election after election, usually agree with him, but not his means.

    1. 5:26 -- That's a ludicrous accusation. Bonde has never done robocalls. I agree with WC. It points to Lerchbacker, who has sent a flurry of mailers in the past week, most co-sponsored with Gaspar. There is speculation about who is behind it, a Republican trickster who is a master of dirty tricks. There are claims from HomeyTel, a provider of robocalls, that their phone number was falsely used to make the robocalls.

    3. Yeah, that's not a bonde move. Team Stocks, Bond and Meyer. I've seen it and heard it most every election, the Drugs one, the Teresa one. Embarrasing. Blakespeare will win anyway. Results around 10pm tonight...

  4. If any one thinks for a minute that this would be allowed to happen in our close neighborhoods (especially the HOA's) is more stupid than they look.

It will not happen here folks. I can guarantee it.

I bet Stocks or Gaspar's husband isn't too far away from this if you follow the trail.

  5. I didn't get that call but I did get one call from Jim Bond, asking me to support Gaspar and Lerch, and two from Lisa Shaffer and Teresa Barth (together) asking me to support Kranz and Blakespear. I think I'll support Graboi and Cameron as I do not like robo calls and haven't received any from either one of them.

    3. You can tell me so. And when this "environmental, peo-community character" council member votes repeatedly in favor of developers, you can be just as sorry as the rest of us. Anyone manufactured by team Barth/Shaffer is not good for this town.

    5. 7:06, I voted for Julie and Tony, so I won't have a dog in the fight, just calling it how I see it. Incumbents and money spenders usually win these elections...

      Delete
    6. 7:06 Yeah, you are a real Einstein- Gaspar and Blakespear both raised more money from developers, cronies, hihg density lawyers and special interest then any other candidate

whew- takes big brain to conclude they are the inside favorites

my vote can't be bought, I don't want a favor from the council, I want an honest council

Here is hoping for an upset

      Delete
    7. Exactly, that's why they win. This isn't a contest between you on me on who's smarter, it's about understanding trends from the past and now.

The trends say Gaspar and Blakespeare win. Conservatives and new Encinitas people vote more in these off year election. The only consolation is we will basically have the council we have now, with the addition of Blakespeare.

The big election is next time, 3 seats with Lisa saying she's not running and the chance to boot Muir...

      Delete
    8. 11:42 You are correct if Gaspar and Blakespear win. The council make up will be the same as it has been with Muir and Gaspar losing with their "NO" votes. Therefore, for the next two years we have a lame, ineffective mayor and all will remain the same.

So, the rants on this blog will remain the same until the next election when hopefully we can boot out Muir and hopefully Gaspar will have exhausted herself and realize that politics is not for her.

If Gaspar wins, she needs to call her sugar daddy husband "Ken".

We will hear and see more "plastic" than we care to think about.

      Delete
    9. Gaspar will either be a total figurehead like she is now, or she'll run crying from the dais if the heat is on. It will be interesting to see what changes occur with her as the mayor. It's kind of embarrasing to even have her on the council to me, so we've already crossed that threshold.

  11. Whoever did this add is going to run into some problems since the robocall did not specify who paid for the call

    ReplyDelete
  12. Whoever did this is foolish. Nowadays anything can be tracked and this will be uncovered. The culprit will be in trouble big time. I can hardly wait for the fallout.
While waiting I am voting for Cameron and Graboi, who will clean out the incompetence at city hall.

  20. Another Looming Pension Debacle

Sacramento Bee columnist Dave Walters writes about how the state controller dropped “a political bomb” the other day with little notice. According to a new database, pension systems in the state owe retirees almost $200 billion that they don’t have. And it gets worse: “that startling number assumes that pension systems will see asset earnings of about 7.5 percent a year — a number that some are beginning to see as unattainable.” So that $200 billion number might be low.

    • Good news for city employees and city retirees in the bankrupt city of Stockton “doesn’t mean that municipal employees — in California and across the country — have nothing to worry about if their governments seek protection from creditors.” (L.A. Times)

    5. No 401k here but a discretionary uptick in SS and no increase in a pension that's a tiny fraction of Muir's. CalPERS says he needs a COLA while collecting $170-$180K? Hah!

    6. The future of your tax dollars going to consume more and more of the state, county and city budgets to pay old burned out govt workers that contribute nothing to the economy. Most of them will take their retirements out of state. We are approaching 100,000 retirees with. $100,000 per year in benefits. It's not possible to stay this course....

      Delete
  21. Just 7 retired employees of Encinitas pull $1,000.000 in retirement benefits a year. That number is now probably in the dozens or more. No one addresses the pension crisis - as noted, it is unsustainable. Will Gaspar do anything about it - not on your life! This pork lbarrel rolls on and on - top city government workers are a parasite on the citizens.

    2. The CA pension system is going down the wrong track. The state will now have to borrow money from a water reserve account to help fund the pension problem. I wonder if it will ever get paid back -- probably not.

Some one needs to be paying more attention to this instead of letting it get out of hand.
