Leucadia Blog endorses Kranz, Blakespear, Prop F

LB:
On Tuesday November 4th 2014 I'm voting:

Tony Kranz for Mayor
Catherine Blakespear for city council

I've found both Kranz and Blakespear to be calm, intelligent, professional and reasonable people and Leucadia would do well to support them.

Also, I'm voting Yes on F

94 comments:

  1. LB jumped the shark a long time ago.

  2. Fitting since they don't get much of anything right. One of the candidates is the polar opposite of reasonable, you can figure out which one. Vote for Julie & Sheila.

  4. I agree completely with the Leucadia Blog,s endorsements and the the rational for doing so.

I miss the Leucadia Blog. I do not like the heavy bias of this blog, its habit of deleting comments that question the bias, the far more massive unintelligent comments, unfair attacks and consistent negativity.
If you know the issues and the players and care about the issues of the coast, the choice is clear.
    Kranz and Blakesphere.

    5. true about the bias towards KLCC on this site. thats for sure. But this blog allows more anon blogs to stand. LB died when JP shut down the comments. So will this blog if they shut them down anymore.

the publisher just can't stop himself. Its like the power of the ring in lord of the rings. Editing is soooo tempting. My precious.

    6. Yes, the LB is worthless. Note that there are zero comments; it is no longer a forum for anything but Lamey (JP) Lamey's viewpoint.
It was more interesting when it was hijacked by commercial concerns.

  5. To be fair, I have seen WC deleting comments, unless they were totally inflammatory. He has his take, we have our take, there's some good info. There's also some of the wild west, personal attack stuff that was just as prevalent on the LB.

I'm voting for Tony, but I have to go with Julie instead of Blakespeare. This is the last day of the election, so best luck to all and thanks to WC for the platform.

    1. To be fair, I did delete a couple of non-inflammatory comments from one or two obsessive commenters who kept insisting that they knew what I meant and implied better than I did.

I tried to explain nicely, but eventually I warned them that I was going to delete further comments that falsely put words in my mouth.

Comments alleging bias on this blog are welcome, especially if they are supported with evidence.

    2. Sorry, I meant "haven't seen", with the exception of the ones WC references above. There were some real trolls on that day.

Keep the conspiracy mindset out of it and we can have a good discussion, people.

    3. To be fair, WC doesn't recognize his/her own bias and can't handle being called out on it. Hence, the deleted comments.

      Delete
    4. To be fair, the comments were not alleging bias but rather ignorance and an absurd attribution of fault.

  6. I went with Gaspar and Graboi - I believe the 2 have some common ground and can build on that to achieve a reasoned consensus among the other members. Sorry, but Tony is in way over his head, and similar to Barth, he has poisoned the well. If Graboi gets in, and she can develop some consensus among the council, 2016 will have much better candidates for it.

    1. I had to look up "poisoning the well." I think I get what you mean, but Tony hasn't done the classic definition of poisoning the well, as far as I know.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poisoning_the_well

There was of course an excellent example of another council member "poisoning the well" with respect to Julie Graboi this year...

      Delete
    2. Sculpin is a Barbie advocate - figures. Maybe he is Ken in disguise?

      Delete
    3. EU has the definition right in respect to Shaffer's disgusting little trick...especially disgusting in light of her "dirty politics suck" reminders...the height of hypocrisy.

Graboi had the grace not to call Shaffer out publicly, which is far more leniency than Shaffer deserved.

      Delete
    4. Who knows who'll win this election. But we're lucky in our feeble minded town that two candidates on a slate don't have signs saying VOTE FOR KEN AND BARBIE. It would be too cute not to.

      Delete
    5. After looking up the Wiki definition, I think EU is referring to the issue of the "lewd and lascivious" CTF neighbor being thrown into the mix to poison the well against Blakespear.

There's also an attack robo call against CB, with cows mooing and roosters crowing, saying that's what it will sound like next door, if Blakespear is elected. People are attributing it to Lerch, but it will probably help Julie Graboi.

      Delete
    6. By the way, hens are already allowed, roosters aren't, in single family residential zones. Cows would not be allowed, but the attack robo call features goats bleating, too.

      Delete
    7. Don't they have to state who paid for the robocall?

I hear it's pretty funny. Anybody have a recording?

      Delete
  7. You have to be crazy to vote for Kranz and Blakespear. Flip-flop Kranz does not know the difference between yes and no. Blakespear, along with Lisa Shaffer, wants to redefine community character, agriculture and culture in general. She does not have a clue about city government and land use. Enhancement to her means urbanization. Both will waste your tax dollars. Vote for Cameron and Graboi. You can trust THEIR words.

  8. That's what I call playing the odds. JP has his store in one of the centers, so perhaps that's why he is doing it.

    ReplyDelete
  9. JP's landlord seems to have exerted some influence over his thinking about many important community issues but I also can't imagine many out there would voice opposition publicly that went against the person they pay their rent to if they wanted to stay at that location.

Whether JP would feel differently if Keith wasn't his landlord is beyond knowing and he deserves the freedom to think what he wants to. I just wish JP was a little more open minded sometimes on some issues but we all can't believe the same on everything or the boredom would be intolerable.

All is forgivable and we can thank JP for all the good things he supports and pays forward to our community.

No. Don't think it would matter but appreciate Sculpin, MGJ, and others sharing.

    5. It's a difficult choice this time, definitely a lesser of evils approach. I can't go Gaspar, because she won't take a stand on tough decisions and is backed by the same group that backed Stocks and his gang for years. If the FF, cops, out of town Developers, Rotarians, and cranky folks picked a different tack, I might be down. As it stands, I think Gaspar is not all bad, and could probably do some good things. But if you want the definition of over your head, look up her name in the dictionary.

Sheila would be the call if this is 15 years ago, but after all the past ugliness down at the City and her inability to work with others, I can't give her my vote. Too bad, becasue she has been our biggest advocate in Leucadia.

Tony is the only choice, he has quietly been doing some good things. I don't think he's in over his head, but he has a steep learning curve.

And finally, I back Julie, although Blakespeare should take it pretty easy. Hard to know what we'll be getting there. I'm not as paranoid about some of the density and community character talk, a lot of that stuff on the farm is a tempest in a teapot. I mean, if we can't get roads paved, how can we inflict new density standards on a town where quite simply there aren't that many places to stick the density?

However, if I have to chose, and I do, I will go with Graboi and Cameron. Neither of them seem to want either one the options I mentioned.

  11. Kranz has done nothing positive for Leucadia. He can't even get the city to water the medians. Blakespear wants to maintain "community character" which is code for keeping Leucadia crappy. Sad to see the man that coined the term KLCC has joined their ranks.

    ReplyDelete
  21. 8:18 you obviously have not followed politics in this city. Up to this year the mayoral position was on a rotational basis until several council members became greedy and jealous and tried to turn it into a high school popularity contest. Thus, because council members got passed over because of their dislike by their comrades, we now have an elected mayor process.

The elected mayor has no more authority than the other members on council. They will be doing exactly the same thing all the other mayors have done in the past.

We have had tons of mayors, some who did not even pocess a college degree. That's how silly this little Mayberry By The Sea has operated.
