Pretty sure this isn't legal.

Have other council members gleefully celebrated the project in their newsletters?

This was a Blakespear pet project pure and simple.

  12. In other action Wednesday night, May 20, the council agreed:

To reduce speed limits along the southern portion of Coast Highway 101 to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety. The speed limit will be lowered from 45 mph to 40 mph from K Street to Chesterfield Drive, and from 45 mph to 35 mph from Chesterfield Drive to the Solana Beach city limits.

    1. There used to be a bike lane without barriers so bicycles could safely go around pedestrians.

  14. Dennis C good question. Wouldn't it have made more sense to continue the SB trail up the East side of the 101 and cross the street at Las Olas?? There is space for it on land on the East side. Does this pretty much boil down to an excuse to remove all the parking on the West side of the 101 for cyclists? The quality of life in Enshititas has really plummeted.

  15. All of these issues came up well before Blakespear deemed herself smart than every other pedestrian and bicyclist design expert and proved her ignorance. The bike coalitions and hundreds if not thousands of pedestrians and bicycle advocates did not support the plan. That should tell you something. The people that did support it, just supported doing something to improve the existing condiditons becuase they suck so bad but I doubt they though they were supporting a plan to make unsafe conditions.

Blakespear ignored all the comments from bike and ped advocates and professional road designer and supported this severely flawed plan. Now she is held accountable for the injuries (so sad for all families and the needless pain and suffering, and the huge payouts in lawsuit claims.

I voted for Blakespear in the past. I thought she stood for Active Transportation and community quality of life. I am sorry Encinitas I failed you and I promise i will not fail you again.

What she stands for increased homeless, increased homeless crime, increased density, increased traffic, increased pollution, increased crowds at beaches, increase carbon footprint, and lower quality of life for all existing residents.

Karen is a colloquial term that is used to typify a person perceived to be entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is considered appropriate or necessary. One of the most common Karen stereotypes is that of a white middle-aged woman, typically American, who displays aggressive behavior when she is obstructed from getting her way; such women are often depicted as demanding to "speak to the manager" and sometimes have a variation of the bob cut.
The Karen archetype carries several stereotypes that are common to "basic white women"; the most notable is the stereotype that a Karen will demand to "speak with the manager" of a hypothetical service provider.[1] Further common stereotypes associated with the Karen pejorative include anti-vaccination beliefs, racism against black people, use of Facebook and a bob haircut with blonde highlights—pictures of Kate Gosselin during the airing of Kate Plus 8 were used in earlier memes about a "can-I-speak-to-your-manager haircut",[2] and continue to be used in Karen memes[1]—engagement in multi-level marketing schemes, and Facebook posts sharing trite motivational messages.[1]

    Label:

a word or phrase used with a dictionary definition to provide additional information

Labels are certainly necessary in this histrionic day and age we find ourselves in. They are becoming much like fables

    Fable:
a short story, typically with animals as characters, conveying a moral.

Now, the current state of the City of Enc could even be described as a Fabliau. Study that word a bit and maybe you'll agree.

In this particular context it applies to certain and maybe all decisions by many of the current local leaders recently.

One for instance would be the Mayors email you speak of.

The kind of man (or woman) who wants the government to adopt and enforce his ideas is always the kind of man (or woman) whose ideas are idiotic...H.L. Mencken

    As opposed to fables

He was writing about a radical challenge to Whig control of the Liberal Party in the 1870s, and was touted as a future prime minister, although his aspirations to higher political office were effectively terminated in 1885 after a notorious and well-publicized case of butt-sex with a young prostitute in the basement of Trinity Hall at Cambridge.
