Gaspar, Desmond push for reopening business

Coast News:
In a media interview last week, Gaspar said Newsom should give counties and cities the authority to determine how and when businesses reopen.

“Sacramento can’t possibly know what’s best for San Diego! Here we have talented clinical leadership, collaborative hospital partners, responsible business owners, engaged residents, and a strong faith-based community ready to guide San Diego out of the crisis if only Sacramento would get out of the way,” said Gaspar, a former Encinitas mayor who represents Encinitas, Escondido, Solana Beach, Del Mar and a northern chunk of the city of San Diego on the county’s Board of Supervisors.

Since the pandemic began on March 7, 430,000 people in San Diego County lost their jobs as of May 2, according to estimates compiled by Thousands Oaks-based research group Applied Geographic Solutions Inc.

During that period, the county’s unemployment rate increased from 3.3 percent to a projected 28.7 percent of the county’s labor force.
When the lockdown began, there were 34 cases of Covid-19 in Encinitas. Those cases have presumably all cleared, and in the past two months, six additional cases have been reported.

  1. We need a Mayor like Gaspar, not a homeless building, density loving, crowded City supporting retard like Fakespear. Every decision she makes in Encinitas is bad for the citizens and the community character. THE WORST. Even Worse than Jerome Stocks who was really bad!!

November can not come soon enough!!!

    2. "ABC" is going to be repeated between now and November, so get used to it. It's a legit shortcut to legit complaints.

    3. Got used to it at least a month ago. Now it's just an annoyance. You're doing your cause more harm than good.

If you have legit complaints, let's see the well-researched details rather than your easy rants.

You are kind of stupid aren't you.

8:37 clear explained what she does not like about Blakespear.

Blakespear promotes homeless building, density loving, crowded Cities.

If you do not support pushing people into homelessness, or making Encinitas look like Huntington Beach, then you really will not Blakespear.

  2. Are you high? Gaspar along with Dallager are some of the worst council people we've ever had in this town. She's a no-thinking, take all the credit fraud. She was a put up by the rotary club and developers in Encinitas. She doesn't give a rats rear about anyone who actually works...

    1. 10:59 OMG, having your head so far up your ass may help you during the Coronavirus, but it doesn't help you to be logical. Gaspar was definitely our all time best Mayor, ever! That is part of the reason she won her Supervisor job. Quit hating and give examples! You people just love to throw shit out there, but never want to give examples or both sides.

    2. Bob Holt was the best Mayor. Gaspar was had the best presentation but you can see that some parts of her tenure success claims were fake. She was a communications major with plans to run for office using her wealthy husband's springboard and her mom's knowledge of local cities. She was not put up by Rotary. She USED Rotary for her own purposes.

    3. Typical, best Mayor we ever had, even though they can't even say his right correctly or has no clue what city they live in, then goes on with stupid stuff, nothing to do with a Mayor or council action! Get real and give examples! Oh wait, I can hear it now, their just stupid.

  4. It's not surprising that the same people working so hard against the current council are also the ones that were never on board with the city consensus that criminal Dalager, louse Stocks and vapid Gaspar were some of the most reviled and shameful politicians to emerge here. Who can forget the chamber turning their backs on serial harasser Stocks, dumping him came far too late. Gaspar still can't manage to win Encinitas, her home town. Her support comes from places like RB. I suppose that's because we know her best. Throw disgraced Muir into the pile and there is trail leading to Julie Blunder and her team of know nothings, do nothings.

    1. They are sad. Sad that Encinitas has transformed from having comfortable, if corrupt red majorities (Stocks, Bond, Dallager, Guerin, Muir, Gaspar, etc.) to the deepest blue city in San Diego County. At the same time, almost all of the region’s federal House seats have flipped from red to blue. And now the GOP seems to be giving up on the Trump-cozy Gaspar and redirecting resources to more competitive contests in what’s shaping up to be a huge turnout year for Democratic voters. It wasn’t that long ago that all the county supervisor seats were in Republican hands. But the shift started a few years ago, and a new Dem majority is likely to take over this year.

Ronald Reagan famously kicked off his presidential campaigns at events in San Diego, as he viewed it as a symbolic core of his home state support. Now it’s all a memory.

So the rage we see here and other online venues at our current leaders isn’t really about them at all. It’s about sad old men lashing out with tears of rage at all the losing. So much losing.

I get it. I feel for you. Strong women running things. Young people represented. People of color having a voice. LGBT people getting rights. It must be terrible for the old and afraid.

      So sad.

    4. 3:52 is living in an alt reality.

Just had 2 seats go red by large margins in special elections. Public fed up with pols like Blakesfear - a shamefully embarrassing Garcetti clone making a complete mockery of reason and logic. Just burn it all down close all the streets and make them sharrow shames. Approve drinking establishments the entire row of Enc 101 District then lock them all down. As the recovery fails to materialize things get real and 101 becomes Lumberyard boarded project. Don't forget to be sure to open Moonlight Beach as the only open beach for 100 miles but keep the parking lot closed LOL... Shit- lets build a windmill farm in its place...at least we'll kill some of those annoying orange pigeons.

    6. 3:52 just did the old bait and switch with "the opposite" way they think. It was a joke to get people worked up as no one could be that inept.
The problem with writing "dark" is one needs to be careful not have it come off as going too far, or having people believe you are serious and not joking. It's a thin line and very hardto get across sarcastic dark humor without over doing it.

    Well for one -

" So the rage we see here and other online venues at our current leaders isn’t really about them at all. It’s about sad old men lashing out with tears of rage at all the losing. So much losing."

What a hug baseless assumption. You do not know shit about me or many other posters on this blog. I can't stand the GOP or losers like your Fakespear.

I would like a fiscal conservative with a liberal view on social issues to run. They would get my vote. For the last 20 years plus all we have are total sellouts to big business and developers. Plus both parties support printing money and have no clue (IMO) on good fiscal policy.

The rep. cannot blame the dems for this. It is all on them alone.

Who could have imagined our democracy was so fragile?

We, sadly, have been shown how little it takes to destroy what was once a beacon of light and hope for the world.

  12. Observation after holding my breath and clicking on the EU link to Encinitas Votes:

    1) Full echo chamber
    2) All opinions/responses are for keeping lockdown in place maybe forever except maybe 2
    3) Complaints surfers are not wearing masks
    4) Droning "REAL" Karens have the opinion that if you have been to/are at/ or attend any pro-opening gathering you are a child murderer or worse
    5) Wackiest ideas from those who believe their own BS with dozens of responses extolling the folly
    6) Lorri Greene is not influential
    7) Repeat # 6 one hundred thousand times
    8) Very old (past their human expiration date) posters most of them childless who truly believe it's a good idea to lock kids inside for months and preferably years
    9) They deleted Marco's intelligent argument over pro-bluff structural engineering support before anyone could even respond
    10) I'm not a fan of Marco
    11) I'm not a fan of Blakespear
    12) I'm not a fan of Thunder
    13) I likely pay more property tax than all of them I know I know you give zero fks
    14) without real and true change Encinitas is totally fkd
    15) EU should remove that link it's a total joke that site

    2. Karen is a slang term that is used to typify a person perceived to be entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is considered appropriate or necessary. One of the most common Karen stereotypes is that of a white middle-aged woman, typically American, who displays aggressive behavior when she is obstructed from getting her way; such women are often depicted as demanding to "speak to the manager" and sometimes have a variation of the bob cut.

The purpose of that site isn't of the admin/host to be influential, it's to give people a platform about what's going on in Encinitas. It's what this site used to be before it was taken over by wingnuts and cranks. Sculpin, where are you?
