Beach sand replenishment underway

47 comments:

  1. To those that are concerned about sea level rise and harming vulnerable and disadvantage peoples throughout the world,

Does this project help or hurt the underlying cause of sea level rise?

How many millions of gallons of diesel and how many tons of carbon released into the air did this operation take to get the contractor Matson down and pump all of these hundreds of thousand cubic yards of sand and then travel to their next destination?

Who is going to pay for all that sand that got stripped from the Cardiff beaches? Is it going to be replaced with sand moved by solar equipment or is it going to be replaced with equipment that is currently being used that emits massive greenhouse gases furthering sea level rise and destruction of beaches around the world?

So we get to a 50 foot wide beach in Encinitas’s for a season or two, as the City’s actions accelerate the islands of the Maldives getting covered and thousands of lives ruined. Is our converting diesel fuel to sand, moving operations really worth raising the sea level up for the millions of people that will be flooded from our actions?

What does the City’s climate action plan say about this issue?

What emits more greenhouse gases, our sand moving operations, or engine powered weed whackers?

    - Inquiring environmentalist that love mother Earth would like to know. Thanks!

    1. It helps.

      It’s called climate adaptation.

Decades of warming are already baked into our future, and we need to take measures to mitigate damage.

      “Millions of gallons”

      Bullshit. Drama queen.

    2. oh got it. Driving my Hummer and pushing all kinds of sand around for no reason it’s called climate adaptation. Got it.

Seems like it’s add to the cause root of the problem to me.

    3. Relocating people off low lying atolls like the Maldives is going to burn carbon too.

I guess according to you we should just let them die.

    4. Absolutely love it. Burning millions of gallons of diesel for a year or two of results is part of the plan…. Classic.

This has to come from that brain trust at CDC. 🤣🤣🤑

or better yet do you have John Kerry working on it with Al Gore? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Jesus the swamp monster politicians like all these losers, get funnier and funnier… We need to get Biden, and Gore and Kerry playing checkers instead of fucking up all of the worlds issues. Definitely old male Karens. 🤑🤑

    5. wouldn’t have to relocate them if there wasn’t a bunch of Sand projects like this wasteful wasteful wasteful…. Pollution, pollution, pollution for no cause.

Focus on route problems, not solutions that make the root problem worse!

    1. it wouldn’t matter to you anyway. You don’t know anything higher 5. I know it all becomes a blur when the numbers start approaching 10 or higher … you could never count anyway.

Hey, Kranz quit fucking around with your pet project and open Beacons!

I’m surprised the natives haven’t cut down that fence as well.

Surfers could establish a very nice switchback outside of the little slide area in about one hour.

Pull your head out of your ass and get with the program.

  5. so it sounds like some people squawking might know the answer to how many gallons of diesel, and bunker fuel and tons of carbon this exercise emits into the atmosphere further damaging and flooding small island communities.

in addition to all of your insults. Can you please provide some facts. Thank you!

    1. So you are asking if anyone can Google “environmental impacts of sand pumping” for you?

Are you retarded or just lazy.

Never mind. I found it for your retarded lazy ass.

The answer is 1.007 Kg of carbon per M² of sand, when the dredging and deposition happen nearby and there’s no sailing between locations.

See the chart on page 7 for marine bank dredging.

    2. Thanks. That sounds like a lot of carbon released …

So burning all that fuel and releasing all that carbon contributes to sea level rise correct?

How do we feel about contributing to sinking them Maldives and flooding all those other nice island folks homes?

      Delete
    3. 2:59 1.007Kg is a little less than the amount of farts you suck out of steve garvey’s ass but more than Stan released when fleeing to the other side of the country.

How about you providing unassailable facts? You never have.

  7. The whole sea level rise fairy tale is laughable. Nothing more than the 40m oceanfront owners perpetuating the political class they of the plebs $$.

Maybe spend the money building/repairing dams/reservoirs for starters.

    1. I guess you don’t get it, Tony, Krantz, and other super woke cars don’t burn carbon, And their gas that they burn at home is good gas unlike everybody else’s….

And when they fly on jets, it’s OK. But when you fly yet, that’s not OK.

Are you seeing the way It works now?

      Delete
    2. is that OK why Tony Kranz doesn’t pay any property taxes, but the rest of us have to pay it?

I’m starting to get it now. The woke crowd sounds like that’s the crowd that gets some pretty good special favors. Sounds like they’re carbon benders.

Their carbons, OK, but no one else is carbon is good. ✅

  8. How is Fletcher Gonzalez doing these days? how’s the latest hunt?

What are they doing with that $2 million of public funding?

How does City feel burning millions of gallons of diesel fuel in order to push sand around for a season to two while contributing to flooding disadvantage island nations?

Maybe Fletcher should get that $2 million to some of the nations that Encinitas is adding to their flooding problems.

  9. When is Kranz going to quit fucking around with his pet projects and pay Leucadia Boulevard?

That street is a freaking hazard and someone’s gonna get killed and sue the city again!

Kranz when are you gonna get that freaking road fixed?

    2. 3:21,

      Tony here.

I’m glad you chose to rant anonymously on a blog about it, because that’s the most effective way to get things done. I’ll get right on it. Just need my shovel, gloves, and a few bags of asphalt patch. Should be done tonight.

      Anything else you need done?

I called the county tax assessor and demanded he raise my property tax bill, but we’ll have to see how he responds.

      Smooches,

      Tony.

      Delete
    3. Nice. If you contact the county assessor and they review your assessed value and taxes that should be sufficient.

And if you do help Leucadia Boulevard by funding it at least that’s a start. Encinitas sure seems like it’s going down the shitter.

Thank you for responding though. Or was that Starvin too?

    4. 5:27,

      Tony here.

      You’re welcome.

You are the most important person in Encinitas—maybe in all of California.

Your opinions and ideas are the best. Every time, on every subject, you always are right. I have instructed everyone on city council and at city hall to consult you and take direction from you before every important decision.

      Thank you for being you.

    5. Tony (if that’s you),

Great. The city is going to run much better. Thank you for listening!

      First two things:,

1: no more favors to developers,

2: tell the city manager to bring back a work plan to manage the city within its means. no proposed tax hike. Reduction of fluffy services like parks and rec is expected. She will need to layoff some staff, which is the norm given the current economic downturn.

Let’s start with those two simple tasks and we’ll see how you do whether you’re reliable and then we can take it up a notch to make this city the best it can be.

if you do this, we will believe that you truly care,

Lets go Tony and see how you do!

    8. Kranz is a rube who does what he is told by the big developer interests. Look at the Liechtag "gifts" given to him after he was first elected. He is just another Dalager. (Appliancegate) The complete lack of any comprehensive urban planning with a workable balance between infrastructure and density is totally ignored. It will eventually take 45 minutes to go 4 blocks on Encinitas Blvd. to the I-5 freeway.

    9. You're right - it is already here. Make it 90 minutes.

  10. So I don't quite get it. Its a Marine Protected Area. I can't go fishing there because I might screw up the fishy environment. Yet they are going to suck up thousands of cubic feet of the ocean floor sand and somehow that's not going screw up the fishy environment?

    4. $30 million a pop. But who’s counting. We’ll just text you more.

And the diesel and bunker fuel being burned doesn’t count because it’s climate adaptation. Burning these huge quantities of diesel and bunker fuel is actually good for the earth. it’s climate adaptation, clean burning hydrocarbons don’t you know.

      Get with the times!

  11. Hey clueless person, commercial fishing is not allowed. Personal is. Just as when lobster season opens in Oct. a personal take is allowed and always has been.

  12. I’m so stoked that we get a summer of sand and get the contribute to all those poor people on the islands, who now get to swim in the ocean more….

See. It’s all perspective some people call it flooding and getting their homes ruined, I tend to call it climate adaptation, and the people on those low islands will just have to turn into mermaids and live in the Ocean just like avatar 2. I love being woke!!
