Psycho killer targeting bicyclists on 101

A hit-and-run driver killed bicyclist James Steven Swarzman on 101 in Leucadia at 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

And the vehicle and M.O. are suspiciously similar to this January incident in Carlsbad which looks like a deliberate rundown of bicyclist Heath Bernstein:

Police are looking for a dark-colored, newer Ford F-150 Dodge Ram with obvious front-end damage.

It sounds like both incidents were late night, northbound, so we're probably looking for a local who spends evenings in coastal Encinitas and then goes home to Carlsbad.

  1. Case out the bars and saloons.

  2. Bicycling is a dangerous sport anymore. Motorists are too distracted or oblivious of what's going on around them. This pickup driver sounds like he is crazy!
