Solana Beach kidnapper Jack Doshay back in custody on charges for second attack

CBS 8:
A man accused of trying to kidnap a little girl outside a Solana Beach Elementary School is back in custody on a new charge related to another alleged kidnapping victim. He is now being held on $5 million bail.

Jack Doshay was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday. The prosecution said there may be changes to the charges he's facing. The preliminary hearing was set to start at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, but the courtroom was switched, causing a delay in the hearing.
Back in April, we pointed out that DA Bonnie Dumanis' inexplicable decision to charge Doshay with simple, rather than aggravated, kidnapping meant that he could be back on the streets preying on children before he turned 30. Perhaps this second incident will cause prosecutors to take the case more seriously despite Doshay's family's wealth and political connections.

The new charges are related to a previously reported 2010 attempted molestation of a 5-year-old at Doshay's former elementary school.

UPDATE: From the Reader:
On September 2, prosecutor Ryan Saunders informed a judge that he was able to get an indictment on ten charges from a grand jury last week, after he brought forward new evidence against Doshay.

Some of the new charges include lewd acts on a child with force, kidnap with sexual intent, and a charge of multiple victims. The maximum prison time if Doshay is convicted of all current charges is 50 years to life in prison, according to prosecutor Saunders.
It's going to be very hard to prove that older case unless they've got some physical evidence they're not telling us about. They'd better bring more serious charges in the 2015 case.

  1. Diddler
One who thinks sexually unlawful things about children. Derived from "kiddy diddler". One doesn't actually have to touch a child to be a diddler. Anyone who promotes, is involved in, or looks at child pornography, can be considered a diddler. Goof-diddler is a stronger variation of diddler. It suggests that the person being called it (a diddler of high recognizance) went to prison for diddling. Diddlers make you feel guilty for having a girlfriend younger than you because of the unsettleness in society, having heard too many stories of diddlers being put behind bars.

  2. I have no idea what 8:01 is talking about, but I would like to add a few things. Pedophilia is not something to take lightly, as Bonnie Dumanis should have known. There are no known psychological interventions that work with this particular disorder. And yes, it is a Psychological Disorder. And NO, there is no effective treatment. The rate of recidivism is extremely high. Why the DA's office didn't know this in April completely baffles me. Are mental health experts never consulted when something like this occurs? I don't understand how she could have let this man out in the first place. If there was an effective treatment, then I would say "let him go there and I think most of the public would agree to spend tax dollars on a person that is a pedophile". However, there are no effective treatments, short of Depo Provera, which is basically chemical castration. Personally, I have no problem with using this particular drug on pedophiles. And, a lot of them, say they don't mind taking it. Pedophiles have a serious psychological problem. They obsess on young girls or boys. They keep obsessing until they cannot stand it and then they do something about it, namely, find a child to molest. It is sad for everyone, but especially for the victim and the family. I truly wish the D.A. would at least have someone on her staff learn a bit more about this before letting even one more pedophile on the street. I don't expect her to know everything, but I do expect her office to find experts in this are, and listen to them. Disgraceful.

    1. It's always easy to say you would abandon your kid. Not so easy in practice. I never hold it against parents for defending their child. They are not objective, and that's why we have judges and juries, who usually get it right. It's the corner cases where they get it wrong that draw media attention, so it seems more frequent than it is.

Don't expect Pfingst to hold back. Most parents would direct him to do whatever it takes, even if that means throwing the parents under the bus.

    2. Pfingst. What a feller. Defending shady folk now as defender, but fighting tooth and nail for the largest conviction rate in CA, then as DA. Its all about the hat.

    3. Look what Pfingst did for the Coronado "suicide" case - investigation closed in record time. I think the Sheriff's Department got a 10 year supply of donuts.

    2. agree, 7:04. The system of justice has been corrupted by political cronyism, non-objective judges, and too often lying government attorneys.

  5. This predator needs to be put down, or at least have his shaft and balls removed, to prevent the risk of future actions on his part.

Its that simple. All the predators need their weapons removed with options including the balls, shaft and head.

    Its that simple.

  6. Let the legal system handle it. Yes, rich people have an advantage because of the laywers that they can hire, but that's the sysem we have. The era of lynch mobs are over.

Gee, can't we just argue about Gaspar?

    1. If Dumanis continues to undercharge him so he can be out on the streets preying on children in just a few years, I'd say that's a legitimate matter for public discussion.

    2. Guess it's not your kid being molested is it MGJ???
Not to worry in 50 years "unions" of perverts and children will be legalized, can't practice discrimination can we???

    3. 9:50 - and what if it was MGJ's kid being molested? What business is it of yours? It's between the perp, his victims, the parents, and the judicial system now. As for "discrimination", you've missed the mark. Move on.....

    4. My point was related to what I perceived to be a lynch mob mentality over this case. I want this guy arrested and tried just like anyone else. I want him tried to the full extent of the law.

What Dumanis does or doesn't do with the case isn't something I control. I voted against her. At this point, we know his family will probably hire a good lawyer, as they would expect. It's then up to the prosecutor's office to do their job based on the evidence they have.

As far as 9:50 trying to twist what I'm saying, tiny minds will have to just stew in their own juices. Now I have to get back to ordering Gaspar a ticket to Idaho so she can run for CFO of the potato company...

    5. MGJ,

Dumanis is a political creature. If there's enough of a public outcry, she'll file more serious charges. So it is something we, the public, collectively control.

      Delete
    6. Not necessarily.....she'll file the charges she think a jury will convict on, regardless of the public outcry. Overzealous prosecutors who don't win cases can enrage the mob more than the original crime!!

    7. Seems to me the case for aggravated kidnapping is pretty straightforward. I'd love to hear the argument against.

    8. Sorry WC, I have to agree with the Sculpin on this one. Our justice system doesn't have that kind of purity, it's filtered though the jury system.

Vote against Dumanis during the next election, I will.

  7. This one is simple and a lynch mob is just what we need.

Shame the parents out of the country. They knew the pattern and allowed it.

Put down the loser predator and save all those millions of dollars on useless lawyer babble. Lets this loser live is just wasting millions of tax dollars on a risky rotten soul. Put a single bullet in his skull and lets spend the millions on educating our healthy youth!

  8. While I don't agree with 7:15's methods I will say, once again, that the recidivism rate for pedophiles is higher than for any other group of criminals. I can understand any parent wanting this perpetrator put in jail for a long time. Dumanis is a political animal and rich people do have an advantage. This person has now done it twice. How many more times before we say enough? I think it is perfectly reasonable in this case to protest, be angry, and want to do something. What that is, I don't know.

  9. I don't want him jailed, I want him death.

Save our tax dollars and save our children. This predator deserves to die. And his family is partially to blame.

Sculpin and MGJ rather give all the rapists and murders free passes to Disneyland and big screen TVs with a nice low income subsidy for a place up on Neptune for $5/ month. Nice Bleeding hearts are losers in my opinion and kill just as many people as George Bush. Both groups are whacked.

Sculpin's bleeding heart group is a big part of the reason there is so much misery in life. Deal with the evil, move on, and quality of life goes up. Promote the cancer and live with the eternal pain.

  14. The lynch mob should convince the DA to put down doshay as quick as possible and as cheap as possible.
