Group releases large report documenting Baird yoga & iPad conflicts

A 49-slide PowerPoint presentation documenting connections between EUSD Superintendent Tim Baird, the Sonima Foundation, and University of San Diego administrator Scott Himelstein who allegedly had a lucrative side business consulting for Sonima.

I don't know who the authors are, and I can't vouch for the information inside, but someone clearly did a lot of research and it raises a lot of serious questions.

Have a read yourself and see what you think.

  1. This is the same thing that our City employees do! They cherry pick the results that they want to support outcomes to benefit themselves and not the residents of Encinitas for whom they are supposed to be protecting.

In this case, while dealing with children, it is particularly abusive.

Our city staff have the excuse that they are stupid and provide weekly demonstrations to support this conclusion. These people involved in the research all have advanced degrees and research background. This is outrageous.

I personally like yoga and practice mediation, but there is no evidence that this program has helped anyone in Encinitas except Tim Baird!

    1. Agree, 4:30. The so-called "survey" results are skewed here, when the City has biased contractors conduct the surveys; the data is massaged and the surveys for the City are also not factually based.

Baird has not honored the Naylor Act nor has he honored the Brown Act. The compliant Board of Trustees of EUSD goes along with his every whim.

Baird has blatant conflicts of interest. That is serious, and should not be swept under the rug because, in general, many parents do appreciate Yoga. But there is a big difference, now, that the foundation will not be providing funding for instructors.

Through his behind the scenes wheelings and dealings, and our Council's naiveté and lack of experience with schemers like Baird, our City was essentially robbed of about $5 Million. Baird was hired to capatilize on part of our heritage, which had been donated land. Baird wasn't a local, but was brought in from Ojai, where he raised that community's ire by trying to sell a surplus school site there, not honoring promises made.

Gus Vina, Barth and Kranz were horrible negotiators re Pacific View. They were outfoxed, and just let it happen, because they decided it was "worth it" to grossly overpay and buy our own public asset back at a hugely inflated price.

Baird is expert at twisting the law and twisting facts. Don't "go along to get along," and just sweep it all under the rug, because you like Yoga.

  2. What a buch of hooey! Let the kids do yoga, the feedback in our community of the kids expressing benefits is everywhere. Think of the kids and the results they are getting! Best use of tax dollars I've seen around here, and that is rare. Helps offset the rip off mess of Pacific View, Kranz sure could use some yoga.

  3. I wonder if this was made by sore loser Sedlock, and released publicly after the OAG determined there was no legal conflict.

  4. I'm sure there is something to that as I've noticed many of the same parents who objected to free yoga for "religious" reasons are involved in spearheading this campaign (and I think the website as well). However, the objection from this much larger group of parents seems to be because the 9 schools raise probably upwards of $100K each every year to pay for vital services like extending library hours, science consultants to have better lab science, remedial reading teachers, PE teachers, etc.--so $800K seems a little overwhelming out of the general fund that could fund these academic needs in large part. Even very pro-yoga parents are against this. The website gets a little -- intense? though...

  5. Intense? You would wonder if these folks ever had a delightful stroll on the beach!

  6. Off topic: just realized that if Trump did build his wall, it would be bad news for Encinitas. Imagine the number of pangas.

We'd basically become El Paso, TX.

Thankfully, I think the chances of that are vanishingly small.

    1. Legal citizens would benefit if taxpayer money was used to benefit legal citizens. Instead, legal citizens are paying billions in taxes that are being used to benefit illegal non-citizens. The Hate Group called LA Raza, and Mexican nationalist are on record they are using illegal immigration to destroy the culture and sovereignty of the American Southwest thru Reconquista to repatriate California to Mexico sovereignty, yes the Mexico ruled by Cartels. Last week in the Sanctuary city of San Jose Mexican nationalist attacked legal citizens attending a rally to bully, intimidate and silence them, like third world brownshirts.

    2. Amen and thank you. The Democrats have worked hard to create these racists hate groups like La Raza to ultimately create racial battles. The sister of Encinitas "you can no longer use fireworks on the 4th of July" lawyer is the one of the biggest and most evil anti-white racists in the state, her name is Lorena Gonzales and apparently she's dating male prostitute and shill Nathan Fletcher. LA RAZA is coming for your kids lunch and their future livelihood.

    3. ^ losers living in fear of immigrants stealing their sorry ass jobs that mexicans probably do better anyways. If you can't compete with an illegal, your ass is sorry. You can clean my yard for 20 bucks though.

    4. From yoga to xenophobia in a minute. Someone give these haters something shiny to distract them.

  7. Baird needed to be fired years ago. That guys sucked then and sucks even worse today. Fire the dog.

    1. Yes, he should be fired. The only way to do that is to change the make-up of the Board of Trustees. Hopefully people will wake up and vote out the incumbents running in November.

    2. The Board are stooges of Baird's, who go on retreats and junkets at taxpayers' expense. You think they're going to depose their Sugar
      Daddy?

  8. Can Baird be recalled? What is the process for dumping this clown?

  9. LET'S DO THIS! Change.org petition or simple signature gathering like Carlsbad mall?

  10. Wow, look at who is trying to CENSOR/SUPPRESS/DESTROY free speech in the entire state of New York? Is Encinitas next?

  11. It came out in the meeting last night that going back to July 2014 not one single board member has ever voted no on any matter put before it. Before that, lots of the links to board minutes are broken, but a sampling of the ones that do work also so no dissenting votes from any current board members. Why not run amok when your board says yes to you on everything.

  12. the people that put this presentation together and have been leading the charge against Baird and his conflicts of interest had nothing to do with the previous yoga debacle. they are new to the District (within last two years) and this is their first involvement in anything related to Baird and the Board. They are continuing their research and to expose the corruption of Baird and this Board because they want their tax dollars to go to their kids education. Nothing else.
