    2. Says 56% of the anti-T monstrosity majority.

    3. I don't think "everyone" that voted "no" did so because of Bruce, aka the one-hit wonder kid. Most voted no simply because they didn't want the project.

If that was true, and Bruce wanted to serve, he should have played the card and ran in the election.

    4. 9:40 is the same person who called Bruce a "one-trick pony." "Most" would have drunk the city's kool-aid had Bruce not revealed the piece of developer crap for what it was.

  3. is anyone else having a problem with the streaming coverage? The U-Verse coverage is endlessly buffering... arghh... 1996...

  4. Mosca is talking right now. I really don't like him because he will not even answer Muir's question about his Sierra Madre experience.

  5. I have Cox and I am not having problems with seeing and listening at home.

  6. Shoulda brought his ukulele!

  7. If they are basing on tonight, I don't think they'll pick Mosca.

He wasn't prepared to address the elephant in the room, and had to be interrupted and redirected to address the issue, and didn't have a good response.

    I think he blew it.

    If he would have said:

There's a guy who lost an election to me, who orchestrated a campaign to make me look bad. As a less experienced person, I fell for it and had a bad night one time where I was provoked. I learned from the experience, and now understand that I should have ignored the provocation, but I didn't. The guy I beat badly posted a video of my reaction, but not the provocation.

I'm a passionate public servant, and for that I don't apologize. But Joe Mosca 2016 knows how to balance that passion with the wisdom to know when reacting is counter productive.

    1. It was not "a bad night," there are several videos out there of Mosca not making sense and acting inappropriately.

Had he said there was just one, he would have been lying. Trying to explain away several just doesn't work, does it.

  8. 7:08- I totally agree, but I will bet they chose Mosca, unfortunately.

  11. Kris Powell, who was Catherine's campaign manager, wants Mosca. The fix is in.

    1. If that's true, you have our condolences.

    2. And the council will have made its bed. Many sent the scary Mosca videos to the four council members; if they refused to watch them, they're on their own.

      Delete
  12. Ehlers also crapped the bed with his response to Muir.

Muir: 'Why didn't you take my challenge to come up with a productive alternative in 2015?'

    Ehlers: 'Uh. Pass.'

    1. Council, staff, consultants and lawyers took years to come up with a plan, yet one guy is supposed to come up with an alternative?

      Delete
    2. 7:50,

I thought he was supposed to be a leader.

      Leaders lead.

      Delete
    3. 7:54 That disqualifies the four on the council.

      Delete
    4. Ehlers and others in opposition to the Measure T monstrosity HAVE offered alternative plans over the past two years. When the city decides the residents' plan doesn't pay back enough developer favors, they ignore residents and pretend no alternatives were offered. They call concerned and engaged residents "obstructionists" (Barth) and "naysayers" (Shaffer).

Ehlers likely said "pass" because - let's face it - what's the point in wasting one's breath?

      Delete
    5. Link to the alternative plans please?

      Delete
    6. Go to the ballot argument and rebuttals. Challenge yourself, 9:36. Go see if you can find the links on the city website yourself (extra points if you can do this in under 30 minutes).

Do a PRA request for all communications between the community and the city on the HEU for the past few years.

Don't be lazy, do your research and report back. We'll be here.

      Delete
    7. A ballot rebuttal is not a plan.

      Emails are not a plan.

I want to see the upzoning map Bruce proposed.

Anything else is smoke and BS.

    8. "Ehlers and others in opposition to the Measure T monstrosity HAVE offered alternative plans"

Well then, if Bruce is too dumb to answer a lay up question, then I guess he doesn't deserve to be on council.

  14. Is Kranz doing it again? Tells a heartwarming, seemingly sincere story then votes opposite of what he said.

  15. Bitchy Mayor Blakepear moves to appoint Joe Mosca.

    ReplyDelete
  16. First big decision by the new council, and the majority did the very wrong thing.

    ReplyDelete
  17. And, it is Mosca. 3 for Mosca, and Muir for Brandenburg. As I said, the fix was in long before it got this far. Lisa Shaffer wanted Mosca and Catherine did as well.

  18. 7:21 was right. The fix was in.

  19. So much for preserving our paradise, Blakespear.

Vilification of the hypocrite amps up starting now.

  20. Gotta love this town...there's always a conspiracy. Let's ask Putin!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well I'm surprised. But I think Joe M. Is certainly qualified and smart. He has to know that some loons will surely do their level best to get under his skin and instigate a camera-ready reaction. I hope he's ready, and takes a chill pill before each meeting.

We should all wish wisdom and success for our leaders.

    Welcome Joe.

Also, I do hope this sticks in the craw of the SM Tattler sour grapes loser. Time to move on with your life, buddy. Focus on building something positive, not tearing anyone else down.

  22. Blakespear now justifying the 45% pay increase.

Council members are effectively volunteers. They're not supposed to be in it for the money.

Theoretically, they do it to contribute to the community, but what it's really about is power and ego.

Their pay is like an honorarium. If they were paid what the job deserves, they would get a whole lot more than $1720 per month.

It is 5% per year starting in Dec. 2008. It is a 45% increase in salary.

      Delete
    2. Mayor Blakespear said state law limits the increase to 5% per year, and each increase must be voted on seperately. No autopilot annual adjustment allowed.

Therefore the current vote can only be for 5%.

      Delete
    3. No, the State Code, says that it can be raised 5% per year, retroactively, so totaling 45%, since it hadn't been raised in nine years, The State Code does say it can't be compounded, or it would be more than 45%. I notice they didn't talk about the percentage, only the total raise, over $533 per month more?

Disappointed in Council, tonight, but not surprised.

      Delete
    4. Watch the video. Blakespear rounded down to $1719. Standard rounding would make the new amount $1720.

    5. 9:00 PM
Mayor Blakespear must still be giddy from appointing Joe Mosca. She approved a 45% increase in council salary.
      This state law -
“The salary of council members may be increased beyond the amount provided
in this subdivision by an ordinance or by an amendment to an ordinance, but the
amount of the increase shall not exceed an amount equal to 5 percent for each calendar year from the operative date of the last adjustment of the salary in effect when the ordinance or amendment is enacted. No ordinance shall be enacted or amended to provide automatic future increases in salary."
The council just isn't getting automatic raises like the County Supervisors.

  24. So now Kranz wants to remove benches downtown so homeless can't congregate! How about NOT APPROVING more bars that is attracting this element?

    1. Kranz needs a wider stumbling path, natch.

    2. Kranz did make Encinitas a welcoming city.

    3. 9:03, I hope that wasn't Gaspar's suggestion for eliminating homelessness by removing benches in San Diego. Sounds like the next thing will be taking wheels off of shopping carts. Hmmmm. Maybe that's the real reason behind the plastic bag ban.

      Delete
    4. Let's not confuse the homeless problems and the bar issues. Homeless DO congregate/sleep on the benches. Homeless do NOT typically patronize the downtown bars. While the bar crowd may be a problem, the homeless population in town is a menace. Bar patrons don't typically shit on ur sidewalks while there are several documented instances of homeless doing so.

      Delete
    5. 9:03- That was actually Tony Kranz's suggestion at last nights City Council meeting.

    6. Poor guy, his dim bulb duller from frequenting establishments downtown, or tripping on a bench.

    7. Bad guys rob banks?
      Get rid of banks.

      Bad guys drive drunk?
      Remove roads.

      Bad guys sit on benches?

      Delete
  25. I don't think a lot of homeless go into bars. They may go get a bottle at a liquor store, if they can afford it.

Our milder weather here attracts the homeless.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The homeless hang out at library, sleep between cottonwood park and trail up along freeway. Drugs and drinking are part of their life, it's a fact, much evidence left behind.

    ReplyDelete
  27. There is a saying that water seeks its own level. This council is all pro-builder, so naturally they get another to work against the interest of Encinitas residents. I expect no more from this loser council that is beholden to developer interests.

  28. From a Pasadena newspaper - 2011

"In October, Matheson's laptop was searched as he passed through airport security at Halifax Stanfield Airport.

Authorities said they found 2,500 pictures of naked boys, some engaged in sex acts; 280 videos of boys, some of which also showed children engaged in sex acts.

In addition to the videos and pictures, Matheson's laptop contained lurid short stories, one of which detailed a sexual relationship between a pre-teen boy and a priest.

City officials said they had no idea if any of the underage youth in the photos or videos were from Sierra Madre or surrounding communities.

Matheson maintained ties to several local politicians, including former Mayor Joe Mosca. Besides signing nomination papers for Mosca in 2010, Matheson hosted a fundraiser for Mosca at Matheson's Liliano Drive home.

Mosca moved to Great Britain earlier this year and was unavailable for comment."
