Where's the sheriff?? Blocking the intersection is against the law. Where's the city council ?? Why don't they demand the sheriff enforce the laws?? Mostly it's idiots and morons that block the intersection. Until the citizens of this city DEMAND accountability from the council and staff, the citizens will be shit upon.
Yeah. It's summer. This always happens occasionally. Wonder why the banners are all empty in Encinitas? The Del Mar Track usually has their ads up by now.
Ok, it's summer, but how much vibrancy and revitalization can we take before it starts getting stupid? 20 minutes of circling for a spot and I give up and go home. Guess as long as Gus gets his revenues to cover himself and staff, it really doesn't matter to city hall...let Norby keep doing his thing.
We will be watching if Council blesses Sad Sac with wasting more time and money on delay tactics to implement his big retirement scheme. Lets see the discussion and end resolution for tonights agenda no 8. Your citizens are watching.
I'm wondering if these were taken last Saturday, with the Pro-Am and Switchfoot concert either underway or about to begin. I've never seen so many cars and people in downtown. If so, it's not really representative of a "normal" moment at that intersection.
I live in the white condos on the southeast corner of that intersection. Traffic is constantly backed up there! Doesn't matter if it happens to be a weekday or a weekend. Or day or night. That section of Encinitas Blvd. is almost always a nightmare! People constantly try to beat the light and end up stuck in the middle of the intersection blocking the rest of the traffic. It is "normal"...and has been like that for far too long!
Note to incessant whiners: Lots of people live in Southern California, and a lot of those people want to live and/or hang out by the beach. Bitching about it won't change that fact. Perhaps provide some constructive thoughts, or find someplace else that better suits your delicate sensibilities.
7:41 want some whine with the cheese your serving? Taxpayers who pay the bills from Oceanside to Carmel Valley are battling back against rapacious developers seeking to reduce their quality of life and destroy community character.
Only Encinitas and Del Mar have the power to protect quality of life in the hands of residents. O-Side, C-bad, C-Valley, Sol Beach are all subject to the special interests, developers, unions and state lobbyists-
Besides traffic, the downtown drunken fiasco will continue. You will not see this Council curb business hours - there is just too much money involved. All they want to do is kick it down the road a bit further, hoping it loses momentum. They should have the Sheriff's Department personnel get out of their cars and do foot or bicycle patrols on Friday and Saturday nights; the Sheriff's deputies loathe to get out of the comfort of their air conditioned cruisers, but they'd be more visible out of the cars and act as a reminder to the crowds to remain civil.
It is like this every day, all day, all year. I go through this intersection on a daily basis. The police cruise by and do nothing. Nothing. Bigger fish to catch in Leucadia trying to cross the tracks, I guess.
I agree with 8:09. Why can't we have 2 sheriffs downtown between midnight and 2AM if there is such a problem? I haven't been downtown that late in a long time, but if it is as bad as people are saying, then the sheriff could move some people around and have at least 2 sheriffs down there between those hours. We pay a good price for the sheriff. If they sit and do nothing during the day, transfer them to night hours and make them work. Doesn't seem that difficult to me. However, i am sure the sheriff would come up with some lame reason why they just cannot do it. Maybe we need our own police force, although I have no idea what that would cost, so I am just putting it out there.
anybody watching planning director murphy spin his tale of the housing element? He just said 1000 people participated in the gpu, and other cities only have 30 people, ................if this is true why do we need the spin doctor for 135K, hmmmmmmmmmmm well there it is, he needs to bring back a unified mapping plan, aha, the spin doctors true goal, plan and bake a housing element map. so, who is the PR person? N orby?
the city should take her up on Middle Encinitas, it sounds like a great place for the low income affordable housing. also, wasn't thier only 1 affordable unit at Pacific Station? Just saying.
What the future dumping of Section 8 Housing. It can ruin an area. Council already dumped section 8 housing right in the beach area of our City doesn't make sense. Beach front property is more expensive.
These meetings are too long. Each council members repeats the same thing in a slightly different way. Is it any wonder why these yahoos excell at their govt jobs??
Shaffer making motion to ??? I have no idea what just passed 5-0. It makes no sense what so ever.
good thing we passed prop A. Now we need Prop P, for pensions.
also Barth let it slip that she wants a zoning change for the land use housing element on the 2014 ballot. I think they plan to get around Prop a by doing an uzponing land use overlay for all 5 communities that are interchangeable, if it passes power goes out of the hands of residents and back into the hands of the council. I hope I am wrong but it explains why the council wants to hire a pr person.
Council needs to fire Sad Sac and hire a City Manager that will clean out all the old deadwood staff that are lifers and useless. Its that simple. Our tax dollars are being wasted.
I predict next election both incumbents will be replaced. Gaspar has the stink of Stocks and Barth believes in converting Encinitas to a dense (real meaning of "smart" growth) growth City meaning more stack-n-pack.
Dr. Lori, Where is our term limit initiative? Two terms max.
Term limits right. Dr. L called it and then no one came out to help. Can't blame her. Get Bruce or Sheila, they are your new friends. She called Lisa, and no one listened. And she no longer will post under her own names, thanks to one flamer. Last time I heard she was over it, and moving on to other things.
Thanks 7:39. But, I a not Dr.L. I do know she told many people, including me, that Lisa would not be a good councilwoman. And Maggie, was on heavy pain killers while Lisa harassed her into making that video in which Maggie endorses her. But, Maggie only met Lisa about a year before, and was getting pretty ill at the time. As Maggie told it, "she was puking her guts out". Watch the video endorsement again, and remind yourself Maggie was on heavy pain narcotics at the time, and she actually sang the praises of our amazing community, of which she was so happy to be a part of. Lisa was an afterthought. Too bad the whole story cannot be told, but Maggie did not want it that way, and we all have to respect her wishes. I miss her.
That's called stupid drives that deserve tickets!

As they have been the last 10 years.
ReplyDeleteTry 26 years.

ReplyDeleteThank heaven for Prop A.

Just saying-

The traffic signals here and all the way to the freeway are poorly synced - it always jams up at the rush hours.
ReplyDeleteit did not jam up before there were so many people
ReplyDeleteIt is like this every day, all day, all year. I go through this intersection on a daily basis. The police cruise by and do nothing. Nothing. Bigger fish to catch in Leucadia trying to cross the tracks, I guess.
ReplyDeletePeople are so rude and need to learn not to block intersections. When one blocks me, I lay on the Horn and yell at them not to block the intersection.
ReplyDeletePlease join me at teaching the morons!
"People are so rude..." and then you "lay on the horn and yell at them". Am I the only one who sees the irony in this?
Delete- The Sculpin
Yea.
Deleteagreed, however scuplin is the site's resident devil's advocate
DeleteMove the red light camera from Encinitas Blvd & El Camino Real and make some real money for the pension fund.
ReplyDeleteHow will the council embarrass themselves and the citizens tonight??
ReplyDeleteNot a matter of if, bit how?

ReplyDeleteI would cost to much for a small town like ours. Don't even go there unless you want to donate millions of dollars more per year for the service.
ReplyDeleteLeucadia gets dumped on again. 23% of low income housing to hit Leucadia only 15% to dump in Olivenhain.
ReplyDeleteWhy - Whats the reason and what do the other communities get?
Deleteanybody watching planning director murphy spin his tale of the housing element? ReplyDeleteShaffer talking like the life long bureaucrat that she is.. Now she wants a new community for the city. Wants new community called Lisaville.
ReplyDeletethe city should take her up on Middle Encinitas, it sounds like a great place for the low income affordable housing. also, wasn't thier only 1 affordable unit at Pacific Station? Just saying.

DeleteCouncil dumps section 8, we dump Council.
Shaffer trashed Norby and his way of facilitating a meeting. Yet she herself made no offers to facilitate any community gatherings.
ReplyDeleteGaspar trashes Norby. Calls for new way of gathering community information.
ReplyDeleteBarth wants low income housing to remain low Income forever, regardless of market forces.
ReplyDeletegood thing we passed prop A !
ReplyDeleteBarth wants city staff to ask public the draw boundaries of communities on a map.
ReplyDeleteKranz wants to experiment with how to place items on the agenda.
ReplyDeleteGus complaining that meeting last too long. Seeking pay raise?? Overtime pay??

ReplyDeleteShaffer wants to take over the town. Has anyone Googled her. She is scary.
