Yoga haters to appeal ruling

Because what the heck, they've got such a good chance of winning and the school district has plenty of time and money for this nonsense, right?

  1. You've had your say, plaintiffs. Stop the lawsuit.

Work with the district to find another form of physical education for the kids whose parents choose to opt out.

But don't waste any more of the districts time and future money over this.

  2. would you feel the same way if it was a parent who opposed what they thought was some form of religion being promoted in schools?

    1. Yes, because these parents *do* think it is a form of religion being promoted.

But its not, as determined by a reasoned and thoughtful judge after several days of testimony.

I understand that it *is* (and always will be) to some parents, and they can opt their kids out.

  3. Funny how folks so trusting of their own religion and god fear proximity to anything they think looks like a different religion. Where's their faith?

  4. if one form of religious practice is prohibited from the class room should all forms be prohibited, or only those you disagree with? sounds to me like that is your fear.

    1. Not at all, it just seems to me Christians, especially born agains, are the most freaked out by anything that doesn't smell like their god. I happen to be a strong agnostic who's sitting back and watching the show. :)

    2. thank you for your honesty that it is onlt the spiritual beliefs of christinas in schools that you oppose. Hooray fornthe intolerance of islam and the druids!

    3. 7:32 from your post you have indicated that you are ok with spiritual beliefs be in taught in schools as long as they are not Christian spiritual beliefs. Isn't this a double standard? Also, seems a bit intolerant to me.

    1. Indeed. If you say "lotus" instead of "crisscross apple sauce" you're likely to be unwittingly converted to Hunduism.

    2. a moment of silence followed by as you say 'crisscross apple sauce' would be banned and the school pilloried, we both know that.

  8. I continue to feel that Yoga is part of a spiritual practice, and to me, that's not a bad thing. I appreciate that Yoga can be part of integrating mind, body and spirit, which promotes healthy living, emotionally, physically, and mentally.

I also feel that "prayer" can be "secular," but I realize most people wouldn't agree with that. Higher power can be "within," and not necessarily related to the traditional Judeo-Christian beliefs and practices. However, I also can relate to how the Evangelical Christians could feel that they cannot practice their faith traditions, and the Jois foundation, through Yoga in schools, not limited to physical exercise, by the way, can.

I have compassion for the Christian families' positions, too, that they are being discriminated against in their spiritual practices, which are not allowed in Encinitas schools. I feel that we can respect their asking for equity without categorizing them as "haters," because they chose to file a lawsuit.

  11. Here comes another doomsday disruption. So far nearly every celestial spectical rumored were colossal duds. So at best, if comet Ison hits us, at least Coastal Eddie will keep us from fear - until you know, the last few seconds of our lives. In 7th grade, Jean Dixon predicted California would fall into the ocean at 2pm. Aug 4, 1967. Our shop class at Oak Crest got to count down the seconds aloud. The slightest earthquake that day would have soiled many shorts, but Jean was a sensationalist. The beginning of the end of my faith in adult psychic prophesy.

  12. The other thing you'll hear is that at the end of this year, comet Ison will be brighter than the full moon. Who wants to wager five bucks on that one?
