Sheriff Captain replaced

Encinitas Advocate
John Maryon, who previously served as the Sheriff's Department homicide lieutenant, recently took the reins as captain of the Encinitas Sheriff's station.

[...]

He replaces Theresa Adams-Hydar, who could not be reached for comment. Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Jan Caldwell in an email said that Adams-Hydar has been "rotated to oversee more of an analytical component of the department."

"This is a routine movement of managers and several have been rotated," Caldwell said.
The personnel change comes after Adams-Hydar's recent awkward and unpersuasive pitch for a new daytime beach patrol position.

The new caption will have to respect that inconvenient document know as the U. S. Constitution.

  5. The new captain, should not shake down families enjoying the beach they should put the squeeze on the bums drunk and panhandling around the 101.

I have yet to see a buggy beach patrols do anything of value. Yet I see bums peeing, pooping and doing all kinds of other vile acts which go unchecked.

  6. The new captain is well aware of the community's feelings about deputies having their bikini watch patrols that serve as nothing but time killers with a nice view for them.

That will not be a policy that will continue to be implemented. It has been pointed out to him that this community is better served with more foot patrols late night than this waste of time and our money for a patrol that history proves was never needed. Citations issued tells the story, past and present.

Sheriff John, welcome to Encinitas. [and the two other cities we have to share you with]

    1. Well stated. At one time, there were 4 Sheriff's personnel in that beach buggy. Absolutely ridiculous waste of manpower in an environment that is generally sparely populated. There is also some question as to the necessity of having a Sheriff's room in the new Eiffel Tower that will be constructed on Moonlight Beach. Does that mean occasional presence or a full time position? Either way, it is unnecessary.

  8. What are the jurisdiction limits of the lifeguards? That site has no personnel?

  9. life guards don't save lives. Only waste budget. what are the stats of fatality by drowning in Carlsbad vs Encinitas.

Carlsbad do not have one, Beach lifeguard.

Encinitas could save millions per year following Carlsbad lead on this issue.
