The husband of San Diego County supervisor Kristin Gaspar says his wife's former opponent, Dave Roberts, defamed him and his business in an attempt to win the election. The Roberts mailer was a sleazy, cheap shot about a settled lawsuit over actions by one of Gaspar's dozens of employees, something Gaspar presumably had no involvement in or knowledge of.
Paul Gaspar, owner of Gaspar Physical Therapy, and one of his associates filed the defamation lawsuit in North County San Diego on September 6.
The lawsuit claims that Roberts, through his reelection committee, attempted to smear Kristen Gaspar in campaign mailers. The mailers accused Gaspar Physical Therapy — where Kristen Gaspar served as an officer — of elder abuse and medical malpractice.
But defamation cases against public figures, particularly in election campaigns, are notoriously hard to win.
At the same time Gaspar's wife Kristin was running (successfully) against Roberts for county supervisor, Paul Gaspar was running (quite unsuccessfully) for Encinitas mayor. He beclowned himself by sending campaign mailers dressed as a physician in lab coat and stethoscope despite being a physical therapist whose occupation does not generally call for such accoutrements. And Gaspar was earlier a central figure in the "We Love Encinitas" phony charity scandal.
Here's the plan:
ReplyDeleteFirst, wait until everyone has forgotten the election abd any claims made therein.
Then, do something to trigger a new round of press that will reconnect your business name to key phrases: "elder abuse," "malpractice" and "shady business practices." Assure that the original claims are recirculated.
Also, create column inches dedicated to reminding the public that you like to play dress-up, and "prescribe" things, and that you play fast and loose with rules around non-profit tax status.
Finally, do all of this by picking a fight that you can't possibly win in court.
I don't know what kind of school teaches this kind of brilliant business strategy, but I do know it's not medical school.
Apparently it's part of the same strategy that made you claim you had a non-profit, when you didn't....
ReplyDeleteGashead has exposed himself as an idiot. Would not be surprised if business has declined as a result. No way in hell would I go to a PT who wants to be a politician and poses as a medical doctor. Probably blames Roberts for his own failures.
ReplyDeleteRamblings like this are why we have laws against having babies with your sister.
ReplyDeleteHey dude, the Klan called, they said they are short an idiot. Have you checked in? Does your brother-dad know you are on the inter web?
i didn't know hillbillies could read, much less type. Crawl back under your rock, 3:29 and 3:30. You're embarrassing yourself, not that you could figure that out.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking out the garbage, WC!
ReplyDeleteDave Roberts is a CROOK! Really, HIS office games, cost the taxpayers $300,000. After getting beat in the election, he claim a workers comp claim from shaking hands and for being attacked by a homeless man with a "fork". Really! You can't make this shit up! For those of you that still think Dave Roberts is a good guy, pull your head out.
ReplyDeleteDave Roberts is living in Connecticut now. How does a lawsuit filed in a North County Court on September 6 have jurisdiction? And why now? It's been almost a year since the alleged actions took place. It smacks of a publicity stunt. The court filing suggests an attempt to win public sympathy and support for a possibly damaged business.
ReplyDeleteI think this further damages their business. They should spend those lawyers fees to promote PT. People who file frivolous lawsuits are a part of the problem. I hope they go out of business because, clearly, they can't do the PT thing very well.
DeleteThe partners should be sueing Gaspar, his actions alone cost the business, not a flyer.
We've been taking our daughter to Gaspar PT weekly. We're going to take our business elsewhere because of this silly lawsuit.
DeleteLet him know why you're moving your business.
DeletePaul Gaspar and his wife are bumbling idiots looking for more money to support their expensive life style. His wife makes a cool $176,000 a year plus, but that isn't enough for her. Apparently most of her job consists of reading to little children - go figure.
ReplyDeleteAs for losing business in their physical therapy gig, all they have to do is point the finger at themselves. I wouldn't want that man touching my body.
Frivolous lawsuit at best.
10:54pm. Slimy Jerome, you are the only crook around here, and as for Paul Gaspar, he was a willing stooge for you and slimy mikey to exploit.
ReplyDeleteThankfully, the voters knew better. Anyone associating with either one of you two cretins, comes away with an everlasting stain on their character. Talk about crooks, try looking in the mirror. Your bloated estimation of your bloated self has only served to show what a low mark on the evolutionary scale your life ha achieved.
Since Paul Gaspar allowed you to influence his campaign it is to his everlasting shame.
Going after Dave Roberts now is a feeble transparent attempt to keep your dishonored name above the fray of the litigation that Paul Gaspar has brought down upon himself and his physical therapy business.
Do pursue this attack on Dave and see how many clients you lose. Dr. Paul, what a joke. karma is a beyatch, and if you haven't learned that yet, you surely will.
If Dr, haha,Paul wanted to do something for his failing business , he should retract any criticism of Dave Roberts and show what a man he could be. Maybe some clients might stick with you. Continue this bs suit and there will no place to hide. I can imagine protesters outside of your offices calling you out for being so freaking petty over an imagined slight.
You deserve much more if you pursue this attack on someone who is not here to defend himself. Bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk. Go ahead and lay another egg and see what happens to your diminishing client list. Is this really worth all the bad press that this will create?
As clueless as a candidate that you were, don't spread that same ignorance to your business. Who ever is advising you should be sent packing. They are not your friends and are using you.
Kristin Gaspar is so hell bent on helping the homeless. Why don't they take the money that would go to a lawyer from their lawsuit and spend it to help the homeless. Seems to me that would be better use of their money. Oh wait, Kristin Gaspar can not relate to the homeless since she lives in a million dollar house. My bad!!!
ReplyDeleteMudslinging is a normal part of American politics and the November 2016 campaign was particularly nasty, at both national and local levels. There were lies, damned lies, and defamation all over the place. If a Gasbag can't play the game and roll with the punches he or she should not be in politics.
ReplyDeleteAnd if P. Gasbag misleads the public, he should expect the lies to be thrown back in his face.
DeleteNow he wants to blame the messenger.
Funny, considering how big the wife always acted on taking responsibility at council meetings. Perhaps this family value was not a topic at their dinner table. Or perhaps it was just for show.
Beware all men on the Board of Supervisors -- watch out for Ms. Gaspar. If you are not nice to her, she will sick her mommy and husband on you and sue you for not paying attention to her. She needs the money for a nose job.
ReplyDelete4 fire trucks, 2 sheriffs, 1 ambulance, 1 lifeguard at the corner of E and San Elijo. Why?? No signs of trouble that I could see nor danger nor an accident. What's up??
ReplyDeleteThe scary thing is that after the next election, Gaspar will become the senior member of the Board of Supervisors, due to term limits eliminating the other members.
